I'm a BRIT. And although some people have no trouble with the concept, I'm gonna make a patronising point about this for the hoards of people who do. I am NOT English. Being British does NOT automatically make someone English. England is only one of four nations which comprise the political country and geographic area known as Great Britian. I was not born in England. I have never lived in England. My family are not from England. No member of my family is English and only one lives in England, now. That does not make her English either and it never will.
What laws do I break riding my motorbike through the local public park?
I don't have insurance or tax or a licence or a helmet and I'm 14 years old.
My brother is 16 and he's showing me how to do wheelies across the football pitch. What's wrong with that?
14 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoHow many atheists are proper atheists and how many are Christian atheists?
FYI, proper atheists reject any suggestion that any kind, including humanly inconceivable concepts, of god exist, even though they cannot possibly know that.
Christian atheists reject the idea of the anthropomorphic biblical god as nonsense and think that's enough.
20 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat gave Jesus the right to trash the ten commandments?
Isn't it a bit ungodly not to get the rules right first time?
Y' can't be much cop as a god if you need to rewrite your own rule book.
The need for the Christian Jesus proves the fallibility of god and a fallible god isn't very impressive.
31 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWould you expect to be allowed to add VAT to an invoice knowing this policy is in effect?
"As eBay is primarily a consumer marketplace, from February 20th 2008, users will no longer be permitted to add VAT to the final item price after the item has been won.
If VAT is legally due, the seller bears the responsibility of paying that VAT to the appropriate authorities according to any applicable laws and regulations."
3 AnswersUnited Kingdom1 decade agoIf you go to hell for worshipping gods other than Jehovah, why do Christians celebrate Easter?
Commandment One. The first and most important. Breaking this one is even worse than murder :
"I am the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not have any other gods besides me."
------------
Easter:
High Feast of Ostara, pagan goddess of springtime.
15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy take seriously anything said by professional nonsense-mongers like catholic cardinals?

People who insist that some guy you can't see and should be dead, anyway, for several reasons (like being born 20 centuries ago and being killed shortly after), is alive and the active CEO of their business, should be treated with the most suspicion that can be mustered, surely, and not given column inches to air their views for serious consideration by lawmakers.
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWho wants free buses in the UK?
Ask for it here: http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/free-buses/
I'd be interested in hearing people's views on this issue.
Unfortunately, people don't get to add comments when they sign the petition for it and the format doesn't afford counter arguments to the issues, either. The format, here, on Y!A, does allow comment. Have your say.....
(I know this is the same as my last question but that one somehow ended up only showing on the US site unless 'Show All English Questions' was selected. It's a UK question so I'm posting it again.)
12 AnswersCommuting1 decade agoHow long are journos going to keep falling for this spurious story.?

People on benefits don't get any discretionary payments over and above the absolute minimum they are required, by law, to be provided that they can, theoretically, have the minimal quality of life conscionable in a civilised country. There is no fat to cut off. When reports say they're going to cut people's benefits, they're lying. It can't be done.
6 AnswersMedia & Journalism1 decade agoHow do you trace the real source of emails using a forged address?
I receive delivery failure notices for emails that do not originate from the address they are "returned" to. These forged emails are commercial spam which have nothing whatsoever to do with me and I am offended to have my on line identity falsely associated with them.
5 AnswersSecurity1 decade agoWhy are mobile manufacturers allowed to sell damaged goods?
Most phones CAN use a whole range of sim cards but the manufacturers deliberately sabotage that ability by locking the functions to only work with a single network.
It is damage which can be fixed, easily, by paying a 100% profit extortion fee to the manufacturer or, more commonly and less expensively, to a common criminal exploiting the legal scam.
Network locked mobile phones are faulty goods.
4 AnswersCell Phones & Plans1 decade agoIs it sad or funny that Christians think non-Christians aren't open minded?
And that they are!!!
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy are they showing the 'Aah Night' Bisto adverts on Scottish TV?
There are no Scots accents among the varied cast, for good reason. The words 'aah' and 'our' SHOULD NOT sound at all similar and Scottish accents make the distinction very clearly.
It's, really, rather insulting that the Bisto adverts presume their audience members all suffer from the same speech impediment as the exclusively English cast. We don't.
