    I've noticed a lot of people respond to hypothetical questions about the moon being destroyed, moving out of orbit, etc, by stating that we need the moon to survive. I know the moon affects tides, but do we really need it to survive?

  • If I obtain British citizenship by descent, do I have to surrender my Australian passport?

    I'm thinking of living and working in the UK in the near future. Rather than trying to get a work permit, I was thinking it would be easier to use the fact that my mother was born in the UK to obtain a British passport. However, I don't want to give up my Australian citizenship. Can I be a citizen of two countries and hold passports for both?

  • What are some kid-friendly ways to prepare vegetables?

    I'm trying to teach the students in my class about nutrition and have just discovered that most of the kids in my class don't eat vegetables. I thought I'd show them some fun ways to get their 5 serves of vegetables every day. I was thinking of showing them how to prepare celery with peanut butter and a few other vegetable based snacks I know, and was wondering if any of you had some ideas I could add to my list?

    Just to make things more difficult, they must be easy for a child to prepare and involve minimal cooking.

  • How long should an arm ache after a tetanus shot?

    I got a tetanus shot on Monday. It is now Wednesday, and my arm still hurts to move or touch.

    I'm concerned because with every other innoculation I've had, my arm has recovered within a day. Is this normal for a tetanus shot, or should I be worried? How long should I let my arm ache for before I visit a doctor?

  • Shouldn't good people get into heaven regardless of religion?

    I'm a good person. I don't lie, steal or murder. I obey all laws. I give to charity and I'm compassionate. I have made a career out of helping children and I lend a hand to anyone who wants it.

    I'm also an atheist.

    So, assuming that your heaven does exist, would I get in? Would the sole factor of my lack of religion undo all the good I've done? Does Mark the Christian who does less good in the world than Fred the Atheist get in?

  • Teachers, what do you do to go "above and beyond"?

    Okay, we all know teachers work too hard. What many people don't realise, though, is that teachers do a lot of things for the kids that are optional, just to make school a better place to be. We don't get paid any extra for doing this, and it adds to our stress and increases our hours, but we do it anyway.

    So I want to know what it is that you, as a teacher, do to make your school special. Perhaps you organise a club or extracurricular activity. Perhaps you donate time to study sessions outside school hours. I'm sure everyone has at least one thing they do to improve the lives of their students.

  • Would it be fair to say that God is imperfect?

    Exodus 20:5 states:

    "You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me"

    So, since God admits to being jealous, and envy is one of the seven deadly sins, isn't this proof that God sins, and therefore isn't perfect?

    1 Cr 6:9:

    Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

    I see nothing in there about homosexuals, so how do Christians apply this to their homophobic crusade?

  • If God didn't want Adam and Eve to eat from the Tree of Knowledge, why did he put it in the garden?

    Seriously. What was the point? Why not put it just outside the Garden where Adam and Eve couldn't go? Or better yet, if it was so dangerous, why did God bother putting it on Earth at all?

    Also, why did God bother with it when he would have known ahead of time that Adam and Eve would eat from it?
