They say hard work never killed anyone. But why take chances?
Does anyone actually take Sarah Palin seriously as a potential national political candidate?
Here are the facts: she struggled for 6 years to get a 4 year degree with a C average while rotating through several second rate schools. She is completely incoherent. Her speeches are single 20 minute run-on sentences. She quit the only job she's likely to get that would give her some experience for higher office. She's a radical christian fundamentalist whose pastor was a witch hunter in Africa (seriously, an actual witch hunter). And she's shown no sign at all that she's got the IQ to run a habitrail, much less the United States of America.
On the up side, she has a cute wink and can see Russia from her house.
15 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoCan ANYONE hold a grudge longer than God?
I mean, come on, sky surfer dude, it's been like 8,000 years since poor Eve ate one little apple. You'd think that at some point he'd stop pouting in the corner like a petulant child and let us live for 900 years again, like in the good ole days.
I think it would probably help if Christians would stop humoring him. "oh, god, we looove you so much, even though you're a monomaniacal brat with a god complex!" I don't know who needs a spanking more, God or Christians!

I'm wondering because, for instance, the may fly has a life span of one day. Were the may flies that got off the ark 40 or so generations removed from the ones that got on?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs it possible to read the entire wikipedia entry on the platypus and still believe in intelligent design?
A platypus is a bizarre egg-laying, venomous, duck-billed, beaver-tailed, otter-footed mammal. The wikipedia entry is here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platypus
If you actually believe in intelligent design, kindly read the entire article (no cheating!) and tell me if it changed your mind.
For those who accept evolution, what percentage of intelligent design creationists do you think will be swayed?
17 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhen, where, and by whom were the following anti-Jewish restrictions put in place...?
1. Jews may not own real estate.
2. Jews must be confined to an area of the city contained by a wall with 3 gates which must be locked at sunset.
3. Jews may not wear the same clothes as others, but must wear clothes that include badges.
4. Jews may not hire Christian servants.
5. Jews will be restricted for working in skilled jobs.
6. Jews will have to attend weekly catholic services.

5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat do you tip for a massage?
I went and got a massage yesterday and it was $60 for an hour. I don't often get massages, but I think she did a pretty good job. When I was paying, I noticed a sign on the front desk that said the recommended tip for was $12-15 (!). I usually leave around 20% for decent service at restaurants, but 25% for a massage?! That seemed a little crazy. Plus, I thought it was rude that they had a sign telling me how much more I should pay. I gave the chick $8. Did I stiff her? What's the appropriate tip rate for a massage?
8 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoDoes anyone know when Mel Gibson's public stoning will be scheduled?
Mel Gibson a devout catholic, who has been married for 28 years, recently appeared on a red carpet with his new 38 year old girlfriend. As such a religious person, I'm sure he'll want to live up to biblical law and turn himself in for public stoning as soon as possible. Does anyone know when that will be?
Oh, and his wife has also filed for divorce, which should also get Mel excommunicated from the church. Does that usually happen before or after stoniness?
14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoRecommended prayer for swine flu?
Does anyone have a prayer they can recommend for asking Jesus to keep me safe from swine flu? If there was a bit about the protection of humanity in there as well, that would be super!
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy do Christians visit R&S?
R&S is pretty much dominated by atheists, at least as far as the thinking and knowledgeable posters go, so why do so many christians come here? Is it healthy for a good christian to expose themselves to so much unholiness and temptation? It's kind of like finding a nun in a strip joint.
25 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDo creationists understand the difference between a "scientist" and "some guy with a degree"?
When asked to recognize that science has rejected creationism completely; that there are essentially zero actual scientists in biology fields who give creationism even the slightest credit, some claim that us rationalists haven't done on our homework, and that there are in fact scientists who 'study' 'creation science'!
Here are some basic facts.
1. There has not been a single paper published in any significant science journal supporting creationism in the last One Hundred And Fifty Years (that's 150, folks). Why is that important? Why do journals matter? Because they work. All the stuff around you now.. computers, electricity, buildings, cars, planes was (and is) written in the pages of science journals. It's where knowledge comes from. If peer reviewed journals were not useful for making sense of the world, we'd still be struggling with the wheel.
2. The Discovery Institute famously published an add claiming that "700 Scientists Support Intelligent Design". Upon further review, it turned out that something like 150 of those were actually doing research in acredited universities. Only about 30 of them were actually doing research in some field of biology. All but one of those, when contacted directly, said that the DI either lied or exaggerated their position by putting their name on that list. So, according to the DI's own research, there is exactly 1 crack pot biologist who is actually paid to do research who believes in creationism.
Sure, there are bunch of dudes with degrees who write books and do "research" for crackpot organizations like Answers in Genisus. But they don't produce anything that's used in any way by real scientists. Their work may as well be, and essentially is, a work of fiction.
Seriously. If you can't get someone who actually knows something about biology to think about your ideas for 10 minutes after 150 years of trying, it's time to think seriously about giving it up.
Eh?
15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoTax churches to support national health care?
How much tax income could be generated by taxing churches? Would it be the $100 billion or so needed to finance national health care? I think quite possibly so. What do you think is more valuable to our society, mega-televangelist-churches like the Crystal Cathedral empire or universal health care?
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIf atheists have no moral compass, why aren't there more PhD evolutionary biologists in federal prison?
I think it's safe to say that christians out number atheists at least 4 to 1 in the federal prison system. How can this be when everyone knows christians are moral and atheists eat baabys?!
