  • Would it be weird to gift a TV to a female co worker I have a crush on?

I won a 50 inch TV worth about $500 at work in a stupid work raffle. I don’t want it and am thinking about offering it to a female co worker who flirts with me. I don’t think the flirting is serious, but am attracted to her. Would it cause awkwardness to gift her the TV? It’s not like I bought it for her, but it still feels like it like kind of a beta move. I wouldn’t give it to anyone else there.

  • Can I verify whether I sent an accidental friend request on Facebook?

I suspect that I may have sent an accidental friend request on Facebook, which if true would embarrass me greatly. As far as I can tell, you can only see a friend requests you've sent if the recipient has not declined it. Is there any way (without contacting the person) that I can verify whether I sent the accidental friend request if the recipient did decline

  • The company I deliver for has not given me a contract. What should I do?

I have been delivering newspapers as an independent contractor for four years. A month ago, the distribution company I used to work for lost their contract with the newspaper company, a new distributor took over the contract for the area, and I agreed to continue delivering for them. However, the new distributor did not give me a contract to sign specifying important details like pay rate and dates or how much notice I have to give if I want to quit. With the old company, I always had a contract specifying these details in writing. The fact that I do not have one with the new distributor makes me very uncomfortable. They told me verbally that I need to give two weeks' notice if I want to quit, but with nothing in writing, I am worried they would not give me my last paycheck if I were to do so. What should I do?

  • How many discrete joint capsules are in the human foot?

Obviously there are 13-14 joints in the digits that are individually encapsulated, but what about the rest of the foot? Do all facets of the subtalar joint share a single capsule? What about the mid tarsal joints and the interlocking joints of the midfoot? If you wanted to hit every joint surface in the foot with a cortisone injection, how many injections would you have to give?

  • How to make an airtight seal around the vent?

I cohabitate with a smoker whose cigarette fumes travel through the ventilation system into my living area. The vent opening is a small square hole in a wooden surface in a hard-to-reach place under my bathroom sink. I closed it off somewhat by putting a block of wood over it and some 10lb weight plates on top of the wood, and while it helps, it isn t airtight and I still come home every day to a room that reeks of smoke. How can I make an airtight seal over the vent hole?

  • IPad and iPhone alarms not going off?

I have an iPad Air and iPhone 5S. For years I have had occasional problems with the iPhone alarm deactivating spontaneously. After another incident caused me to be late for work recently, I tried switching to my iPad, but it too spontaneously turned my alarm off. What the Hell is going on? Has anyone ever heard of this happening?

  • Am I responsible for the whole cost of replacing my apartment carpet in Washington state?

I lived in my apartment for three years and damaged the carpet to the point that it had to be replaced when I moved out. I understand that this is my responsibility and I will gladly pay whatever I legally owe. Most of what I have read online states that a tenant is only responsible for paying a prorated amount based on the expected useful life of the carpet and its age at the time the tenant moved out; however I cannot find laws specific to my state or jurisdiction. My landlord insists that I am responsible for paying the entire cost of replacing the carpet, which is ~$950. I want to pay what I owe quickly to avoid a dispute, but I don't want to be overcharged. Any advice?

  • Can a 20-year old car be reliable?

Thinking of getting an old, low-mileage Corolla to save $$. I could get a 1998 Corolla with 100,000 miles on it for $3500, which is cheap around here. Could a car this old be reliable over the next five years, or is it destined to fall apart?

  • What should I negotiate this 2001 Corolla down to?

I m looking at a 2001 Corolla with 83,000 miles on it. The dealer is asking $4,500 and stated that the condition of the car is "excellent" on their craigslist ad. I had a mechanic inspect the car today, and he found that it had serious problems resulting from severe rust and corrosion on the underside. The mechanic noted the following:

    coolant tank empty

    complete fuel system rusted

    front calipers rusted

    all brake lines rusted

all brake components and suspension components rusted

    exhaust system loose parts

    oil and/or fluid leaks

The mechanic suggested asking for at least $1500 off the price. I actually want even more off the price because now my trust in the car is gone. What say u?

  • Replacing door jamb only vs. replacing entire door?

I have a severely damaged interior door jamb where the vertical portion on the side of the hinges is split and cannot be fixed. The "easy," but expensive solution is to buy a whole new door + the frame for $200. the cheap, but complicated option is to buy a prefabricated jamb kit and replace the jamb only; however, I have no carpentry skills and am told that it can be extremely difficult. What are the difficulties of replacing the jamb and which option do you think I should go with?
