  • Lorazepam 1mg or .5mg?

The doctor presribed this to help me with sleeping. I took it for the last 4 nights and although I still woke up through the night, I actually fell back to sleep witch is just unheard of for me! I googled the med today (which I should have done before) and now I realize how addictive it can be. My dr. gave me 30 - but I am scared to take it anymore. I emailed her and she recommended taking it for one week straight - but then I read that even with a low dosage one can be addicted in a week! should I just flush them?!?!?

  • No Allergies - Sinus Infection? Zyrtec?

I had a blood test done and the doctor said, "I got back the inhalent allergy blood test and you did not show any signs of any allergies. You are not allergic to pollens, house dust mite, mold, cat or dog." First of all I am 34 years old and for at least 2 decades I have been claiming to have allergies! But now apparently I do not? Instead, I was sick with a head cold?!?! According to the blood test this is true, but I swear the zyrtec as been helping (I take it at night). But I should discontinue using it right? I mean, what is it helping? And all these sinus infections....what does that mean? Can a cold turn into a sinus infection? I thought I had allergies and they caused the sinus infection (which I get about 3-4 times a year). But if allergies are not the cause, then what is???????

  • Add Oil - BMW 330i (2001)?

My oil is low becasue I have a leak. I am hoping to take it in within the next couple of weeks to get it fixed. In the meantime I was advised to add oil before I drive if it is low. Where the heck does the oil go? I opened the hood and guessed it went, but don't want to put oil in the wrong place.

  • eye problem - scratched cornea?

Last Friday night my right eye was bothering me and so I rubbed it. I then rinsed it with water and could not get any relief. It felt like something was in my right eye. I tried lubricant drops, but nothing helped. On Monday I went to the eye dr. and she could not find anything stuck in my eye. She then numbed my eye with this dye that would show any abrasions and saw nothing. I felt relief while my eye was numb, but once it wore off, I again felt like something was in my eye. She said if it was an abrasion that did not go deep enough to show with the dye it would heal in 24-28 hours. It is now Wednesday and it still feels like something is scratching my eye. It is so irritating! Every time I blink or move my eye it feels like a piece of sand or something scratching my eye. What can it be? I am a healthy with no previous eye issues. I do not wear contacts.

  • Noise Disturbance - Apartment Issues - Advice?

My upstairs neighbor is obnoxious, loud and crazy. I hear her yelling, screaming, banging, everything. I have complained twice and both times she has retaliated the last time by sending the Police to my home saying there was fighting going on below her apartment. What in the world can I do? Today I got a letter from apt management giving me a warning. I am going to talk to them in the morning but do not want to get upset. This is harassment from them upstairs - it's too much. I have not done anything wrong and yet now I have a letter in my file because of this crazy lying neighbor upstairs.

  • Is it normal to have lumps or knots underneath a hermatoma?

fell on an escalator that malfunctioned. I ended up with a HUGE bruise on my right hip, escalator marks and cuts along my rights side and a sprained ankle. I say that to explain the fall was hard. It's been 2 weeks and the bruise on my hip is finally fading. It still has the ring in purple, but the inside has faded to my skin color. However, I can feel "knots" inside the bruise that are still very tender. Is this a normal part of bruising? A co-worker said they might be blood clots, which of course completely freaked me out! The bruise on my hip had about a 12 inch circumference.

  • Converting old photo's to digital?

Does anyone know of a company that will do this? Obviously I can sit there all day and scan pictures, but I would happily to pay to have someone else do it (since there are over a thousand!). Target maybe? Kinko's? Snapfish?

  • prozac & vicodin - can you mix them?

It started as vicodin for pain, but now I think the pain is gone and I don't want to take them anymore. However, I have been gradually decreasing - down to 2 (10g) a day. then next week will go down a half and so forth. On the flip side, I have been dealing with depression - big move, lost my father, injury to self, etc. So today the doctor prescrived prozac in the generic form (20mg) a day. This is not the same dr. that prescrived the vicodin and I did not mention the pain meds to this dr. Anyway, can I start the prozac while winging myself down from the pain meds? How long until I feel something from the prozac? I mean I know everyone says 4-6 weeks, but did anyone out there feel anything sooner? I do not want to be tired....will this make me tired? I do not want to gain anymore weight. Will this make me want to gain weight?

  • Ground beef - fat percentage - how much does it matter?

I have a pretty tough stomach - or at least I have always thought. I always cook 92% lean ground beef. I accidentally bought 75%. I cooked it anyway - the same way I always do. My stomach hurt immediately after I consumed it. I took Gas-X. It hurt all day and evening. I felt bloated, full of gas, just not a good feeling. I took more Gas-X - no relief. This morning I woke up and thought I was okay - skipped breakfast, but finally ate lunch - had a salad. Immediately felt the bloated painful feeling again. I bought some Maalox - took that with ginger ale. Is this from the 75% beef - that's what I think? But does the percentage really made such a difference?

  • Third Party Check - Bank of America?

My father passed away and my mother received a small check for the remaining monies on his worker's comp case. ($7800). My mother is in a nursing home, paralyzed, etc. I have a general power of attorney and handle all of her affairs. I have never had to worry about money situations because her social security check goes straight to the nursing home. How do I cash this check made out to my mother? She does not have a bank account. I bank with Bank of America, Armed Forces Bank, and Pentagon Federal Credit Union. Can I have my mother sign it over to me and deposit it? What options do I have? Help please....

  • No white food diet (what foods are allowed)?

Trying to expand my list of foods that are acceptable for a no white diet (no sugar and no flour). Can you eat corn tortilla's, corn, or salsa? So far I have limited myself to fish, green veggies, eggs, and fresh fruit. But as you can imagine, all of that gets old. I know barley is allowed - but not sure what to do with that. Brown rice is allowed - but not sure the calorie count is acceptable - I think I have certain beans, certain yogurt, what else? any ideas would be great?

  • How can I help my 6 year old stop throwing up?

Of course I called the dr. and I am waiting on the nurse to call back (it's Saturday) - she had congestion and a cough since last Saturday - I gave her mucinex around the clock since Saturday. She finished the bottle yesterday morning. She woke up with the same cough - like she can't get the mucus out - then she started vomitting, which I thought was from the mucus (as this has happened in the morning before). But now she has vomitted at least 10 times (small amounts) that make her heave terribly - she seems so miserable and is now lying on the ground by her bucket. What can I do to east her tummy?

  • What is the great obsession with a night nurse for a newborn?

Am I the only one who finds it completely ridiculous that parents-to-be are investing (a great deal of money) into NIGHT nurses for their newborns. I have a co-worker who is due in a couple of weeks and I heard her talking about the screening process for her night nurse. It's ridiculous to me because she is married and she is taking 3 months for maternity leave. Personally, I was a single-mother and I took 4 months off for the arrival of my daughter. Was I tired - sure, but it was part of being a new mother. I napped when my little one did. More importantly I did not want someone else taking care of my newborn through the night. Plus, I was nursing so it was easy enough to feed when she woke up. I don't know - weigh in on this....is this something the financially-elite are doing (i.e. my co-workers) or is this really a new trend in motherhood (and fatherhood I guess). I understand the night nurses can run about 5K for a week - so I know the average mother is not doing this......
