Does it mean anything to ask where the universe came from?
Does it mean anything to ask questions or to want to know why we are here? Is our existence meant to be much simpler? Is purpose simply a man made concept?
10 AnswersPhilosophy8 years agoWhy do people value life on earth?
Does it scare anyone that there is a possibility of no after life and that all you know and love now will be lost and forgotten? Do you think we should just accept the emptiness of our lives and fill it with a greater purpose? Perhaps a purpose such as the furthering of our exploration of the cosmos? What do you think is more important preserving our current lives or preserving our species in a galactic sense? Is it smarter to throw your life away on invisible Gods or visible, distant, worlds of unknown phenomenon? I know it's a lot of questions, but just answer whichever question you think you have the best answer for.
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoWhy do Christians believe in the bible?
The bible is no more logical than the cat in the hat, but I don't see anyone wearing a red and white hat praising Doctor Seuss around here. The point is that Christians need to open their options more and not shut the rest of the world out while they worship their evil, jealous, murderous, fake, god. If anything they spread laziness into the hearts of their followers. If we are not allowed to question who or what our maker is then we will become dependent on the writings of our ancient ancestors which in my opinion is a HUUUUGE step back. Way to go Christianity you are ruining our future and slowing human progress. If you want some statistics go Google how less religious country's school systems are doing so much better than the USA's. Inb4 TL:DR
13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoWhy do Christians think that with no afterlife there would be no point in living?
Why do Christians think that with no afterlife there would be no point in living? It seems to me that the initial fear of death that comes with wanting to continue a species has made us create something to cope with this fear. Is it time for us to drop these lies and face the music? or maybe even embrace it?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoIs the Bible a number of different books put together?
Doesn't that make even more ridiculous? To think that several people wrote different books and that they were archived into a single belief that explained things so well at the time people just excepted it as fact. With the modern era it's hard for families to understand this seeing as they were raised religious, but people just need to move on and get over that if it sounds like it should be in a a fairy tale then that's where it should stay.
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoI'm an Irreligious individual and wonder why people think atheists are a cult of some sort?
It seems like every Christian, Islamic, Jewish, Buddhist thinks of Atheists as some aligned group of people trying to prove they are smarter and shoving their beliefs at you. The truth is I don't believe in
any religion therefore I do not believe in God making me an Atheist, but I don't want to be tagged like every other hipster, narcissistic, tool bag out there who thinks religion is stupid. My question is why do people want to make the world simple and generalize every person or group they see?
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoAtheists: Would you like there to be a God?
Or do you think life would be no different whether there is one or not?
24 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoHow many Christians here can tell me what the burden of proof is and how it applies to them?
Please be specific and show that you understand why you and all other religions have the burden of proof rather than Atheists or Agnostics.
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoChristians vs Atheists: Would you rather?
Who would you rather follow? Story Time: You reach a fork in the road and both roads seem equally tempting. There is a man on one side and a man on the other. You walk up to the first man and say "What is beyond the road you stand by?" The man replies "This is the greatest road of all. You must believe in what I say is true for if you do you will reach beyond this road, but if you do not you must follow my evil brother down his road" you reply "What is it that I must believe?" To which the man says "Long ago a powerful being planted us on this earth with the intent of giving us a choice whether we should live eternally or die forever. He sent a part of himself down here to save us from our evil choices. I ask you to believe what I say and you may take this road." You ask "How do you know of this?" The man opens his robe and pulls out a book. "It is all in this book I found many years ago." You, never being one to make a decision without exploring all of your options walk over to the other man. you ask him "What is beyond this road you stand by?" The man replies "I do not know exactly what is beyond the whole thing, but from what I see there is vastness, beauty, and wonder. I have assembled a book of knowledge from what I have seen and I will continue to add to it and perhaps pass it down through my kin." You then ask "Why does the man on the other side tell me of a different story of a being who created all of this?" He says " My brother in his fear has never looked at his path, because he has so much faith in his book. You say " Do you know of this being in the sky?" To which he replies with a smile " If I see one, I will tell you." You must now make your decision... The first man whose ways seem misguided. Or the second man who studied his path carefully and collecting answers to certain questions. Which path would you take?
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agohelp with starting C++ ?
So I am thinking about learning C++ for coding and I have some questions. How hard is C++ to master?
Is the syntax for C++ similar to Java?(I currently code in Java a lot. I know all the syntax and can code well in it.) Is C++ Object Oriented? I would Google this, but I feel someone who uses C++ would be able to give me a more in depth description.
2 AnswersProgramming & Design8 years agoIs there any point in arguing?
So this Christian kid named Kevin at my camp will not stop telling me about how I am wrong being an Atheist, and everyone backs him up. One day he asked me what my religious beliefs are. I stalled (preparing for a shitstorm) and said I don't believe in a god." So he gets in my face and starts angrily...
"Well why not?!! There has to be something that created the universe!!" I said "Yes, but I don't see a God so why should I resort to that conclusion?" He did not like this and said "Just read the bible and i'll prove you wrong!" To which I replied "Why should I believe in a book when i could look for myself?" now he has been on me everyday about reading the Bible and I'm ready to greet him with the business end of my shovel. Is there anyway I can tell him off?

6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoIf God is good why did he create evil?
If he wanted us to be happy why would he create pain, suffering, and all that is sin. He also gave us a choice to go on to heaven or hell. Wouldn't it be easier to say he does not exist and except the our growing knowledge rather than take a leap of faith on God? If God knew Lucifer was evil why would he create him in the first place? Why bring evil into a perfect world. All religion at this point crumbles in my mind. So please tell me why you still believe in this bologna?
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoCan you decipher this code?
"rot hex rev rot 120234655564 15 142565543502N584N565O4R4N5"
I believe the numbers need to be converted multiple times, but I don't know how.
My first thought was ROT13,HEX,REVERSE,ROT13 but that didn't work. Any hints or ways to figure this out?
1 AnswerProgramming & Design8 years agoWhat is the ideal graphics card for my pc?
My current setup is:
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570k 3.40GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6670 (HIS)
Memory: 8GB 1600MHz
PSU: Antec 650w Earthwatts (or something like that :P)
My price range is no more than $200.
I would like to get 40fps average on battlefield 3 maxed out (1080p, ULTRA preset) if not more.
Any ideas or links maybe?
Thanks in advance!
P.S. my motherboard supports PCIE x16 3.0 if that helps in my decision making.
6 AnswersOther - Hardware8 years agoWhy do Christians say that morals came from the Bible?
If you believe in the Bible you most likely cherry pick all the good info and forget about the bad. Doesn't that mean you had some sort of morals before you read the book? And why is it that people say Atheists have no morals when we have about the same understanding of life as you. So in short why can't we just agree that we both have the same morals it's just that we choose which source to cite for them.
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoHow long was the first day?
In the book of genesis it is said that the sun was created on the fourth day. Without being able to know day from night could the first day have been oh I don't know 4.45 billion years?
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoWhy do Christians do this?
Whenever Atheists explain how the population is becoming more and more Atheist rather than religious.
Then I will see new messages on here or youtube about how Christians are saying that Christianity is becoming more popular among the population. Do they say this just to calm themselves down or something? I DON'T GET IT!
13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoAtheism vs Christianity?
*Please ignore title* Is the only point of posting anything on the R&S section on Yahoo Answers to just start a fight and inevitably be proven wrong or just pout and remove your question. I sometimes wonder if people come on here just to fight with everyone who disagrees with them. I refuse to tell what my beliefs are because it does not matter, but why can't we bring back questions that don't involve theories that haven't been proven or a book from thousands of years ago? If people haven't been able to give you a straight answer thus far don't go and ask Yahoo Answers as if some all knowing being will reply with an informative answer. There I'm done.
