  • Bone marrow creates blood cells. But how do they exit the bone and enter the blood stream?

Is it a sort of diffusion? Or are there pores? (Which I seriously doubt) Diffusion seems the only plausible explanation (and it usually is that in other parts of biology lol)...

I want as simple answer as possible, using A level knowledge or lower...

I'm doing a sports course (National Diploma in Sport) and although this isn't a question that will be on the test, we were doing bones in the lesson and although I previously knew bone marrow created the red and white blood cells, I had never thought to ask how it travels through the bone tissue to reach the cappillaries that surround the outer layer.

    Thanks for the help.

  • Why do the majority of personal morals nowadays persist, despite being redundant?

Fighting is wrong, no matter the context

    Incest is wrong

    Prostitution is wrong

Eating meat is wrong (Granted, not a majority, but still highly accepted throughout developed countries.)

If you think about the biological and evolutionary reasoning behind why these things are wrong, it makes no sense. Fighting (Physical or mental) determines the greater man. Incest is no longer wrong because of such great lengths contraception has gone through. (There is no reason why they should be having babies anymore). Same for prostetution.

I'm sure there are more examples, but overall, the majority of peoples reasoning for regarding these things as wrong are either outdated or based on a thousand year old religion that put the point across when thigns were very different.

  • Is your view of Christianity flawed?

The old testament is mostly about how to live your life in a good way. 7 of ten of the commandments are about living life well.

You shall have no other Gods but me.

You shall not make for yourself any idol, nor bow down to it or worship it.

You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.

You shall remember and keep the Sabbath day holy.

    Respect your father and mother.

    You must not kill.

    You must not commit adultery.

    You must not steal.

You must not give false evidence against your neighbour.

You must not be envious of your neighbour's goods. You shall not be envious of his house nor his wife, nor anything that belongs to your neighbour.

most, if not all of Jesus' teachings were about how to live your life.

There can only be two correct interpretations of the bible. Either it is a book that tells you how to get into heaven, or it is a book that tells you how to live your life to the biggest positive influence to humanity.

Granted some points are out dated. Homosexuality, women's rights, sacrifice of animals...

If you think of these things from a point of view where in that time those things were considered to be the way of life, then it all makes sense. In 1000 years time it is possible, if not likely, that some ways we live now (for instance, we burn fossil fuels) will be deemed morally wrong and they look back at us in disgust.

    tl;dr

Don't be too hasty to view the bible as a religious doctrine, or a stupid mans way of life.

    Your views on this??

  • Is selling your body to medical research worth the money?

I am not in a massive financial crisis, just a student looking for a bit of extra cash. Assuming I don't have any medical problems, would you say it would be worth my selling my body to meidcal research for approximately £100-£150 a day.

Bare in mind that your answer may change my choice in the situation if i see logic and reasoning in it :)

  • What is the memory usage for the following...?

How much 'space' is occupied in memory for Integers, Reals and Chars? It's an assignment question and I've looked for ages to answer my question. The idea is that I find out, how i find out doesn't matter so don't worry about breaking rules :)

If you only know one that would help a great deal.
