I grew up in a very small lumber town, but now live in a big city. The small town was peaceful, but boring to me as a child. The city has lots to do, and -- jobs! I have always been very shy, so Yahoo! Answers gives me a much-needed, safe way of expressing myself and communicating with other people from around the globe. I enjoy it; it's educational and fun! I currently work as a technician, but I want to be a writer (among other things) when I "grow up."

  • Definitions for some of the New slang....?

Okay, maybe I'm dating myself here, but I need a couple of definitions for some new slang I've been seeing on the Internet. I need to know in order to better understand and answer some of the questions. (Okay, yeah, I guess I'm mainly curious, too!) Okay, here goes:

    1) What, or who is an "emo" ?

    2) I never heard of this one until a couple of days ago, then suddenly it appeared 3 times in one day!--what does it mean when someone says they want to "snog" someone? (Is it what we used to call "make out" or something similar?)

Any knowledgeable help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I downloaded a free version of Adobe 8 from the Adobe.com website and installed it on my laptop, but it doesn't open automatically. When I click on a .pdf file or link, my computer tries to open it in Wordpad and all I get is a bunch of unreadable gobbldeygook! Very frustrating! Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Is there a way to change a "Thumbs Up/Down" rating the other way around once you've given it?

Earlier today I meant to rate someone's answer Thumbs Up for a Good Answer. After Yahoo got done "saving..." it, much to my dismay, it came out as a Thumbs Down instead! No matter what I tried, I couldn't fix the mistake. I apologize to the person who was affected by this mistake.

Note to Yahoo--can you please update the Answers software so that we can change our ratings in case that we make a mistake and/or change our minds? And bring back the Thumbs Up/Down ratings for Questions, too. Thanks!
