How do I get Adobe Reader to automatically open when I...

click on a .pdf file in an e-mail or a .pdf link in someone's website? I downloaded a free version of Adobe 8 from the Adobe.com website and installed it on my laptop, but it doesn't open automatically. When I click on a .pdf file or link, my computer tries to open it in Wordpad and all I get is a bunch of unreadable gobbldeygook! Very frustrating! Thanks in advance for your help!

Click on your START button (assuming you have Windows) and go to "Explore". Find the menu at the top and click on "Tools" and then go into "Folder Options". Go to the "File Types" tab and scroll down until you find the one for PDF. Once you find it, you'll see where it says "Opens with:" and next to it find the program associated with PDF files. Click on the "Change" button and an "Open With" box should come up. If you don't see Adobe Reader listed in there, you'll have to click on "Browse" and go to C:\Program Files\Adobe and associate it with the .exe file in there. If you don't have that, you'll need to go back to the Adobe website and re-install the free reader.
