Is it possible to use additive manufacturing (AM) aka 3D printing to create a soft foam part, such as polyurethane foam?
I'm talking about directly 3D printing the finished soft foam part through some additive method such as fused deposition, NOT milling or cutting or molding. Thank you.
1 AnswerEngineering7 years agoWhere can I find a small eye bolt with shank/thread diameter of 3/32" or less?
For a small, precise mechanism operation I need a very small eye bolt. Most applications use larger ones, which is why I'm not finding them much smaller than about 1/4".
BTW it needs to be a eye BOLT, not an eye screw. Thanks!
2 AnswersHobbies & Crafts8 years agoWhy don't widescreen Smart TVs come with integrated BluRay Players?
Disappointed that I can't find any that do. Why not? I wish I could have full functionality with just the TV, cable input, and speakers.
2 AnswersTVs8 years agoCan I view a first person helmet/suit cam video of Felix Baumgartner at the moment he reaches speed of sound?
All the videos I've seen so far are truncated. I don't know why they haven't released the entire 4+ minutes up until he pulled his chute.
2 AnswersAstronomy & Space9 years agoIs my royalty agreement still legally binding if the possessive forms of parties do not have an apostraphe?
Possesive forms do not have apostraphes (Grantors, Grantees). I am editing the draft, so should I leave it as the lawyer who drafted it prefers, or should I include apostraphes. Both the Grantor and Grantee are singular so the apostraphe for both would go before the s.
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics9 years agoHow do I have my royalty/licensing agreement inexpensively reviewed by a legal expert?
I am an independent inventor without a patent, but myself and the interested party signed a NDA before I submitted my idea to the interested party.
I was just presented with a royalty agreement. It is 4 pages and makes sense to me. It clearly states: exclusivity, lifetime contract with methods of termination by me, the percentage of net sales I would receive, how often, and my auditing rights.
My only concern: After the interested company's president signed the NDA and reviewed my idea (which is intended to be a temporary, reusable fixture for an amputation prosthesis), the president said his design team had an idea on how to develop it into a separate permanent fixture design. This clearly indicates that they got that idea from mine. The royalty agreement presents the "property" as my device concept, and makes no mention of the exact design I gave them. This seems to be broad coverage of my idea and all similar embodiments.
It seems wise I should have it reviewed by an expert like an IP/patent lawyer, but I don't know where to go. It would have to be affordable (pro bono or no more than a few hundred dollars), and I don't see why it would take too long as the agreement is 4 pages.
How should I proceed to go about this and find someone qualified to review my royalty agreement?
5 AnswersLaw & Ethics9 years agoIs there a free digital camera file recovery software that will see a USB attached camera as a drive?
The ones I tried (Adroit, Pandora, VirtualLab) don't see my camera as a drive, even though it shows up on My Computer. It is a Nikon CoolPix S8100. I don't have a card reader so it's going to have to be through the camera USB cable.

3 AnswersCameras9 years agoDoes there exist the opposite of an electromagnet, in which a permanent magnet is switched off by electricity?
The application here would be for a magnetic lock where something usually needs to be secured by the magnet, and only occassionally released. It would be nice to ovoid the energy demands of securing something long-term with an electromagnet, and instead only rely on a short burst of energy to unsecure the item by briefly disabling the permanent magnet.
2 AnswersPhysics9 years agoWhat is the best day to spend at the Space Needle/Seattle Center/Pacific Science Center in June? Sun or Mon?
My wife and I will be tourists in Seattle for the first time and have a Sunday and Monday in June devoted to the Seattle Center and Pike Place Market. We will probably devote a day to each. Which day would be best for which location to avoid a huge crowd yet see all the attractions?
5 AnswersSeattle9 years agoNashville area frozen blackberry pie, what grocery store sells them?
I only know of the Claim Jumper Blackberry Pie or the Marie Callender's Very Berry Blackberry pie, but I haven't been able to find either at my local grocery stores in west Nashville. Anyone know of a place to buy one? BTW I'm looking for an all blackberry pie, so one with raspberries like MC Razzleberry doesn't foot the bill
1 AnswerOther - Food & Drink9 years agoWhat do I do after removing a wheel from a truck at a junkyard?
I know that I need to use a jack and unbolt it, but then what? Am I allowed to just leave the truck sitting on 3 tires? Do I need to bring wood blocks to support the hub?
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoWhy did the dealer quote me so much for a new stock rim?
2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 wheel that is missing part of the lip due to corrosion/cracking.
My dad tells me it would cost about $150 for a new one. I called the dealer and they said it would have to be ordered and would cost $500 (not including labor). I made it clear that it is just the wheel, not the tire or wheel hub on the axle. Are they just trying to rip me off?
5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoIf the same size/model of tire comes in 2 load ratings, will the higher load rating be more durable?
my car requires 89H, and the tire comes in an 89H or 91H. Both cost the same. I do not need a higher load rating necessarily, but if it means more life out of the tire would get the 91H. Will a higher load rating mean a longer life?

1 AnswerCell Phones & Plans9 years agoWhy do I get Windows 7 Security popup windows for netsession.exe?
Ever since I installed a service pack for Windows 7, Windows Security occasionally pops up a message asking if I want to allow netsession.exe to run. It doesn't say what netsession is or what program might be needing to use it. It always seems to happen when I'm not running any programs in the foreground, so I click cancel.
2 AnswersSecurity10 years agoWhat are the newer or up-and-coming gym/fitness equipment companies that would be open to a product idea?
I have designed a cable and selectorized weight strength training machine for the muscles of the forearms. You won't find a forearm machine in most gyms and have to either use free weights (awkward) or that handle with the weighted cord where you roll up the cord on the handle. The companies I've approached have rejected my idea solely on economical grounds, stating most gyms have limited floorspace and would only want to fill that space with "popular" machines or ones for "standard" muscles. Interestingly, none had anything negative to say about the design. I designed this machine because I want to work out my forearms at the gym safely and effectively and think others would benefit such a machine.
2 AnswersDiet & Fitness10 years agoHow many hours before driving should the designated driver stop drinking?
I'm going on a boating trip with some friends. Me and another guy are the desginated automobile drivers but we'll be out there for several hours. How long before driving should we stop drinking? We're not heavy drinkers and will just be having light beer, not hard alcohol.
8 AnswersSafety10 years agoIf your flat screen is mounted over fireplace, what is a good way to store a cable box, dvd player, wii, etc?
I have cable box, dvd player, wii, playstation, modem, and router? I'd like a functional stand for them that doesn't make it look like the top shelf is wasted space like most TV stands that are designed with the expectation that you put a TV on top.
3 AnswersHome Theater10 years agoBuy a wedding gift for an acquaintance whose wedding I won't attend, knowing though that he may attend mine?
I can't make it to the wedding and frankly I'm not sure I would anyway because:
He did not invite my fiance even though he knew my fiance would be the only person I know there. I of course have planned to invite him and his future wife to my wedding.
Wedding invitation included a card saying "Please visit our gift registry at: ______"
My fiance felt snubbed and I felt corralled into buying a gift.
How should I handle this situation?
