Out of Dog Food - What Can I Give My Boxers to Hold Them Over?
I have two boxers who each had a small amount of their dog food late morning, and when I went to give them their dinner (they typically mostly eat at night only), I realized we were out. My little human kids are now asleep, so I'm unable to run to the store. My husband is picking up their food on the way home from work in about 5-7 hours. They normally don't whine by their food bowls when we've ran into this situation before, but they are now! Any ideas on what I can give them to hold them over for awhile? I'm hoping for ideas are as healthy as possible for them so they don't just throw it back up. In the past I've just cooked up some pasta for them (I know it's bad), but now they need something a little more filling and healthy since they seem so famished. Thanks for serious answers, all!
8 AnswersDogs8 years agoHip, back and leg pain after 1 dose of Prednisone?
I was perscribed Prednisone today after having pretty bad headaches for a week and a half. I took 30 mg and felt great, but now, about 6 hours later, I am having pretty bad hip, back and leg pain. I do have some SI joint and sciatica issues, but this is totally different. This is my first time I have ever taken Prednisone. I've read over the pamphlet and I have a call into the doctor, but was wondering if anyone had a similar experience?
7 AnswersPain & Pain Management9 years agoGood websites to post jobs on in Minneapolis or Detroit?
I need to post a job online for a position in Wisconsin. I want to post on some Minneapolis or Detroit local websites. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know about CareerBuilder, Monster, etc. but I'm looking for something that a tv station may have or a place that locals can go on and look for jobs.
2 AnswersMarketing & Sales10 years agoHow do I get my two toddler boys to go to bed?
I have two boys, ages 2 and 4. It is H*LL getting them to bed. We've tried separate rooms, but we had to go between both rooms arguing with them to go to sleep and then spent all night comforting them whem they woke up scared. When we moved them together, once they're asleep, they stay asleep, so that solved one problem. They play hard all day and don't nap, and I'm lucky if I can get them to sleep by 11 pm (and we have to wake up by 6:30 am). We've tried reading them to sleep, comforting them to sleep, rubbing their backs, ignoring them, yelling, taking privledges and toys away, etc. We've tried tips of sitting in their room with them, sitting in the hallway so they know we're waiting for them if they come out. We've tried the ignoring method, where if they get up, you put them in bed, say nothing, no eye contact, and leave. Nothing works. They are small children and need more than 7-8 hour of sleep a night. Because of this lack of sleep they are also very crabby throughout the day. I'm sure this is common with toddlers, but there has to be something that works!?! I'm convinced it's a lack of respect in a way, so we are trying to work on our lives together as awhole, but they just aren't cooperating. Any suggestions?
1 AnswerToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoAny good workout DVD's that can compare to 10 Minute Trainer?
I'm thinking of getting the 10 Minute Trainer but want to see if anyone has another set of DVD's that may work just as well, but is cheaper. Don't tell me to just eat better and workout, as I'm not that unintelligent where I wouldn't be aware of that. I need a DVD to guide me to tone up and lose these last few pregnancy pounds. Thoughts? (besides eat better and workout more? :-)
2 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoHow do I get my 4-yr-old and my 2-yr-old to go to bed?
I have two boys - 2 and 4. They had separate rooms at first, but we spent most of our nights going from room to room because they were (we're assuming) scared. We recently moved their beds into the same room and it worked wonders, until the 2 yr old learned to climb from his crib. Now they spend 2 hours every night running around, bouncing on beds, and basically doing everything but sleeping. We have tried to establish a calm, relaxing routine. We have tried yelling and hanging outside their room and putting them back to bed whenever they get out. Any suggestions? I don't need them to go to bed at the snap of a finger but I'm exhausted spending 2 hrs every night struggling with them. Help!
1 AnswerToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoWhat were your symptoms before you were diagnosed with endometriosis? Tell me your story!?
I have been feeling pelvic pain on and off for a few years now but in the past year it has gotten worse. I went in to a specialist a few months ago and since then went through 4 ultrasounds (to track a few ovarian cysts) and a lot of questions. My doctor suspects Endometriosis, but said the only way to diagnosis it is through surgery. I'm not against surgery but want to explore options before I jump into anything.
I have a lot of pelvic pain, cramping and back pain which is worse during and after sex and during my time of the month. This pain has doubled or tripled over the past year. The week before and during my period is VERY uncomfortable and sometimes requires painkillers just so I get through work and home life.
What I'm looking for is your story - your symptoms, how you were diagnosed and what made you decide to go with or without surgery. Anything would help. Thanks!
2 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoGood websites on potty training?
I'm planning to potty train my 3 year old son this weekend...and I'm in need of help. He's a very stubborn boy and would rather run, jump and play than concentrate on potty training, so it will be a challenge. Does anyone know of any good websites that go over how to do it?
4 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoLooking for others who have had gallbladder issues?
I've been talking with my doctor over the past few months about some pain, nausea and vomiting I've been having. He seems to think it may be my gallbladder and we scheduled an ultrasound and HIDDA scan. I'm simply looking to see if anyone had similar symptoms and still had their gallbladders removed.
For the past few months I've been getting sick all of the time. I throw up a lot of my food, especially dinner. No certain foods seem to trigger it. I get a sharp pain in under my right rib cage when I exercise, and sometimes it remains sore for a few days afterwards. I'm tired, I get headaches, I get dizzy. Sometimes the right rib cage area and my back get sore for no reason; it can last a few minutes to a few days.
From the research I've done it seems people with gallbladder issues get severe, painful attacks often caused by certain foods. This doesn't happen to me. Maybe I have a good pain tolerance but when I do get an 'attack' it's painful, but typically tolerable, I just can't move around much. I can also eat greasy food and not have problems. I'm sure certain foods trigger my nausea and even some pain, but really it seems random.
Has anyone had or heard of similar issues and it was the gallbladder?
3 AnswersOther - Health1 decade agoI am looking for a tall stand for a 58 inch plasma tv. Any suggestions/websites?
My 3 year old took a bat to our last television, so we just bought a new 58 inch Samsung plasma. Now, we need a stand that is a little taller so little fingers can't reach it. Does anyone know of a website or a place that we can find taller stands for tv's? I'm thinking at least 2-3 feet tall.

It's not the end of the world if I don't get that that much off, but I would like to get as much off as possible. I know it's not healthy, but it's not like I do this all of the t ime. Suggestions?
43 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoHow do I get my 2 1/2 year old to stay in bed?
My son is 2 1/2, and we have a heck of a time getting him in bed at night and staying there. We've tried everything, including weeks of patient calmly talking to him saying he has to stay in bed. My husband and I eventually put one of those door knob covers on the inside of his room so he couldn't get out, but I took it off b/c I felt like we were trapping him inside...which in my mind seems wrong. Any suggestions on how to keep him in bed? Is the door knob cover wrong? Really, he can get out of he really tries, but it seems as though if it's on, he doesn't try. We take it off an it's a night of walking him back to bed. Any help would be wonderful! Oh - and he doesn't talk a whole lot, and at least pretends not to understand some things, so sitting him down and talking to him doesn't help with anything!
11 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoI am looking for some kind of backyard fencing for my dogs?
We recently moved to a place with no fence in our backyard. Our previous place did have one, and we're finding it difficult to train our dogs to go to the bathroom on a leash. Plus it was nice to just open the door and let them run! Invisible fencing seems to be quite a pretty penny, so I'm looking for other options. I am wondering if anyone had any ideas outside of that invisible fence, or a whole backyard fence. In the future we are planning on fencing in the backyard, but right now we just need something- anything! We have a great dane and a boxer, so the can jump over a little thing. My dad mentioned he used to see 4' x 12' sections of fence that you can put together and make as big or small as you would like. That sounds great - but I can't find it! Ideas?
8 AnswersDogs1 decade agoCan you buy any garage door remote and program it?
I am about to move out of my current duplex and need to replace to garage door remotes. Both of them have basically shattered over the past few years and yes, I was stupid not to keep them. Can I get a generic opener and program it to work on the garage?
1 AnswerMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoAdvice on how to prevent painful shins after working out on the treadmill?
I started working out on the treadmill about 3 months ago and now that I'm getting more running into the routine, my shins are killing me! I never really had to work out before, but did on occasion so I'm not going from couch potato to trying to run 10 miles. I guess I'm just trying to get healthier and lose a few pregnancy pounds. Anyway, I do intervals - fast walking, then run for a few minutes, then fast walking, then run, then walk, then sprint, etc. I've been doing this routine for a month and a half and I'm struggling with very painful shins. It doesn't hurt while I'm doing it, but it does throughout the day. Does anyone have advice on how to prevent this? More stretching? Different shoes?
3 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoMy two-year-old doesn't talk?
My son turned 2 in early January and he only says a few words. He says 'ball' and 'mama,' occasionally 'addy' (for daddy). He babbles jibberish constantly, so I know he's trying, but he just can't make out the words. Any suggestions on how to expand his vocabulary? Is anyone else going through the same thing? I may be overreacting, but when I see my friends' children saying more at 12 months, I'm starting to worry! He definitely understands what I say because if I ask him for something he'll bring it to me, or if I say certain words he'll run to whatever I'm talking about.
18 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoWhere can I find eye brightening drops in the US?
When I search on the Internet for them, I'm only getting UK sites, so part of me is beginning to think they're not approved in the US. Plus I'm not familiar with the websites I am finding, so I'm not very comfortable putting my credit card info in there. Any suggestions? Those Eyedew drops look great!
1 AnswerMakeup1 decade agoToddler's 2nd birthday ideas?
It's my son's 2nd birthday tomorrow and my fiance wants to pick him up from daycare early and do something with him...the problem is that we can't figure out what! He's too young for a Children's Museum, and he would get lost in the pit of balls at Chucky Cheese. Any ideas? Right now our whole state is covered (literally) in ice, so we can't take him playing outside in the snow, so it's inside activities only!
4 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoFree iTunes download?

OK, with a little over a week til Christmas...we haven't gone shopping yet. I was wandering through a store today and couldn't decide my 2-year-old son. Everything seems to be made for infants or 3 and older. Any suggestions?
