  • Is it safe to burn 2x4's that were in a house that has been gutted?

My dad recently gutted the home he just bought. He gave me a truckbed full of pieces of wood when he took apart the house. They have nails, hinges, etc in them and I don't know if they were pressure treated or not. How can you tell? Are these safe to burn in a fireplace? Thank you!

  • My mom is 66 and she is having major anger issues?

My mother is 66 years old, in my opinion...she has lost her mind. She calls and when we talk, I usually end up hanging up on her (I tell her in advance, I'm hanging up). Then a day or two later...she texts me like nothing ever happened. She is very angry and has major issues that I don't think she is dealing with. Her husband hates me and my sister, so no point getting him on board with this (he hit her a few years ago, she filed a report and got back with him). I'm concerned for her, but I cannot allow verbal abuse from her to me. I started looking up "Early onset Dementia" online...and she fits a couple of the categories. She would NOT take this well if I brought it up to her (my sister agrees and thinks we shouldn't do anything). I have kids and don't want her relationship with them ruined, and I'm not keeping her from them. She spends summers in mid-west and winters in AZ. So we won't see her until Fall if we do at all. When she comes and stays with me during the winter, we fight. My husband can't take it anymore so at this point, it's him or her. I choose him...but I'm sad that my mom can't get it together for a few days of visiting. My uncle, her brother has just been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Mom's dad was diagnosed with Dementia, so I think she is predisposed for it. I'm not a doctor, but I'm wondering if she has this. Most importantly, shouldn't she be made aware of it??? Thanks for your responses.

  • Is child support determined by where the child lives?

My ex is complaining about paying $400 a month for our daughter. He looked it up in North Carolina and it said he SHOULD be paying me $450. I live in California, and I'm sure if I ran the numbers it would be way higher for him out here. He said it goes by where the father lives, I say it goes by where the child lives. Our cost of living is much higher out here. Who is right?

  • How do you keep a sleep apnea mask on?

I am removing the mask in my sleep, and I don't know I am doing it. I was given the mask a couple years ago, then got lazy about it and didn't wear it. I wake up choking about 4-5 times a night, and dreaming that something is lodged in my throat. So I decided to start wearing it again, I know this is sleep apnea. I never really wore it long enough to get used to it before, and I know it takes weeks to months to get used to it. Any suggestions??

  • Is it normal for a man to tell his daughter that he doesn't want to be a "doting grandfather??"?

I have 2 well-behaved children who hardly see their grandfather. I have never really had a good relationship with my dad...there is always tension. I asked him today if we could see him more regularly, basically he told me that since he is retired now he has already raised his children, put 35 years into a company, and paid his dues. He said that he will keep himself busy because he likes it that way. He said he won't be a doting grandfather, and if it works out that we can see each other...then that is ok. I'm not asking him to raise my kids, we just want to see him more. It seems a little selfish to me...

  • Should I tell my 10-year-old daughter that her dad owes me money?

I was married to her dad for 7 years. He loved to spend money like water and I doubt his spending habits have changed. He is supposed to pay me $400 a month for child support. He is 4 months behind and keeps telling me that his job cut his hours. He is a fireman working every other day for a week or so, then has 6 days off in a row. The other job he works at while he is off the fire dept. on his 6 days off is the one that has cut his hours. Yet, he lives in a 3 bdr, 2 bath house and drives a gas-guzzling truck. How about taking in a roommate?? He is supposed to have a lead on another extra job. He sends my daughter extravagent gifts during Xmas time, and she just got $25 in the mail for Easter. He asked her if she wanted a laptop last month. My husband is having to pick up all the extra slack (and he doesn't mind doing it). My husband covers her on dental and medical. All I have asked is for one lump sum of $400 a month. I understand we are in a bad economical time right now, that is why I have let this go so long. He started getting behind last January. I really don't want to take this to court, because it is important for me to get along with him for my daughter. Taking him to court would really push him over the edge. Should I keep her Easter money he just sent her???

  • Need good advice on how to stop biting/picking at skin around my nails.?

I know this habit is dirty and disgusting. But I just can't stop biting the skin around my nails, I don't bite my nails. It is so bad that I carry antibiotic gel and bandaids around in my purse so that when I start in...I can cover it up. When I finally break this habit, I will put acrylic nails on to keep me from biting at the skin. I had them on before and it broke this bad habit, now..here I am again!!!

  • My 20 month-old continually sticks his hand down my shirt and feels my breasts. How do I get him to stop?

Seriously!!!! I stopped breastfeeding him 5 months ago and ever since he wants to touch them all the time. It happens in public and at home, whenever he wants. Sometimes he won't go to sleep unless he has his hand down my shirt. This is a serious problem, I asked my doc and she said to "gently tell him no" and take his hand out of my blouse. I'm trying to stay diligent on doing this, sometimes he screams when he doesn't get to.
