My son turned 16 last weekend. My husband has the tradition of taking everyone out to eat for birthdays, but instead of taking my son out for his birthday, he handed me money and told me to take him out myself. I am so angry and sad about this. My son was sad about it. His family never acknowledges any birthdays of mine or my kids. We have been together for almost 11 years and this is just rude in my opinion. I am not going to anymore of HIS family functions including birthday dinners for his kids and grandkids. Opinions?

I have worn soft contacts in the past with not so wonderful results. It is time for an eye exam and I am curious about gas permeable lenses. Are they good for presbyopia, I am 52? What about extended wear? Last but not least, how much is the exam and lenses? Can I order them on the internet cheaper?

I still have many classes to take but want to know which materials would be helpful in passing this test.

I am using Open Office for a Master's class, but my professor is wanting papers in Word and she doesn't have Open Office. What can I do.

My Dad is not allowed to drive now, but since I am living in the same town, now I am responsible for taking him to his coffee group, the store, post office, etc. I have two siblings who do not live here but could come take him to the doctor or help with other things and tell me to "think outside the box" or other little hateful remarks. I don't want to have anything to do with either one of them! I am trying to forgive for things they have said and done in the last years (way too much ugliness to list here done not only to me but to my kids) I am accepting that I am the caregiver, yet I am not allowed to speak to the doctor (my sister can, but I can't) I am just the laundress, housekeeper and taxi! I have basically quit working to take on this mess. My Dad can see to walk down the street, but can't see well enough to sign medical papers at the clinic for his meds. (Through the VA) I am at my wits end about all of this. I feel guilty not working, but feel guilty not driving him to coffee. How do I get through the resentment?

After much drama, my 15 year old son has moved out of my house and into his sister's. I cried and prayed, but the last week has actually been calm and peaceful. As long as he is safe and goes to school, I think I might just leave well enough alone.

I am a single mom and a senior at the local university. I have been receiving loans and grants for school and I always have extra money after tuition and books to live on the rest of the semester. With the new student loan situation, will I still get my extra "credit" money to live on? I am graduating in December and will go to grad school in the fall.
