  • Recommendation on spirits (e.g. sherry)?

I need to buy a present for a uni professor, the typical scholarly approaching-70 type. I want to buy a bottle of something, I was thinking sherry, but maybe port/whiskey/scotch.

So which would be best for a someone like him, and what are good brand names or varieties to look out for? Clearly it needs to be a drinking (not cooking) variety.

I'm not looking to spend too much, about £20-£25 a bottle, no vintage items!

  • Approx. weight per dress size?

I was wondering what the approximate weight of a woman is for each dress size. An average of course, the usual 8-16 sizes I suppose.

I'm quite dense in terms of weight, and all the people I know who are the same dress size as me are 2 stone lighter (we're the same height)! I was wondering what the "weight" is per dress size, and therefore how many lbs between each.

I'd prefer a chart or list if anyone has one or can find one, otherwise I'll settle for your own estimations (all you yo-yoers out there!), or even your own weight and current dress size (and height too) - be honest!

  • Style of shoes for my new dress?

I've bought this dress for a party: http://www.divacatwalk.com/product-types/sale/sati...

I have it in red, and don't have any bright red shoes (I guess that would be the best, or only, colour to go with it).

I've been looking online, and on ebay, for shoes the right colour. My only problem is, what style goes best?!

I'd like 3.5-4.5 inches heel, preferably not strappy sandals, and not a pointed toe.

Otherwise I don't have a clue on whether it should be peeptoe, slingback, bow detail, patent, satin to match the straps...

I'd like an idea on the best style and features to match, but if you can find your own pic or product to suggest, even better!

  • Victorian literature - first or third person narration?

I'm writing about Modernism but I got myself confused with narrators. So, does Victorian literature (typically) use first or third person narration? Or is it the case that both are used in equal measure?

Please give a URL to back it up, or one example of a novel that uses whichever you say it is - I don't want people posting any old answer just for the points, cos if they say the wrong one it really won't help me!!

  • Nokia mobiles - features help?

I'm looking to buy a new mobile for a relative after hers has broken. She wants Nokia, and the following models are the right price:

    1650

    1208

    2310

    2630

    2760

    6111

    7360

However, I am unable to find info about features other than bluetooth and camera. I need info about:

Speakerphone (with volume control if poss)

    Strong vibration

    Loudness (messages, calls, alarm, reminders)

In that order of priority. My relative is hard of hearing, so the mobile is largely used for texting, although she can use a mobile with a speakerphone at times.

So, if anyone has used or knows of the models listed I'd appreciate it if you could let me know whether those 3 features are available (the guys at Phone4U etc don't want to know! "They're old models").

  • Help with my eyebrows - wonky and odd shape?

I used a stencil years ago to shape my eyebrows and have been plucking ever since - but over time it has 'shifted' and my eyebrows aren't positioned symetrically on the horizontal OR vertical, and they're a pretty odd shape anyway: http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll7/danilouprec...

Taken from different angles, you can see how one's sparser than the other!

I'd like to keep my eyebrows a flat shape, but I want them to be regular. So 1) pick a style: http://www.eyebrowz.com/viruse.htm 2) advice on getting there - 'shifting' back!

Any help on getting regular eyebrows, pref over time & not just with pencil/powder, would be much appreciated. Ill lock myself away while the hairs grow back if need be lol!

  • Good value prices for Hollywood bikini wax?

Im looking to get a Hollywood and I was wondering what a reasonable price is. The place I usually go to is £25 (Im in the Basingstoke area), so I was wondering if there was a chance of finding it cheaper - if it's gonna be a regular thing then the few pennies saved by going elsewhere will add up!

And no silly answers for the sake of it, I'd actually like to know what a good price is

  • R40 HMRC what to send for tax repayment?

Hi, I am filling out a tax repayment form (R40) for the HMRC, do I need to send any documents or proof with the form? The form consists of 4 pages which has my details, totals for income etc. I know it says don't send any documents but the help notes then suggest you might - it's unclear. Am I to send photocopies? Also, what address do I send it to? I have the address for my tax office if that's where I send it to

  • Cystitis from 'rough sex'?

Hi, I first got cystitis a few years ago when I didnt drink anything at a theme park on a hot day - lesson learnt! But I occassionally get it now from rough sex - is this kind of cystitis bacterial, and as such is it worth going to the doctor? Also, is there any risk my partner could get it (as I read on another 'answer')? If so, how? What are the symptoms? I didn't know that men could!

And I haven't tried over-the-counter remedies, but I'm chugging water and cranberry juice!

  • mp3 player with menu?

I'm looking to buy an mp3 player with the following:

    - menu to scroll through to select a specific album/track (without having to scan through all the tracks)

    - mid range, so relatively cheap

    - no preference for rechargeable or batteries

    - NOT iPod (but similar menu function)

    - doesn't have to be the newest, top-notch technology

As product descriptions online won't tell you if they have a menu function in order to select songs, I'm having trouble finding something. So if you know what's what, or already own something that would suit my needs, I need your suggestions! Thanks!

  • Tube: circle: do you have to get off at end of the line even if you wish to go further on the line?

I want to travel from King's Cross to Tower Hill, but apparently the end of the line is Liverpool Street or Aldgate. When the service reaches whichever of these stops, do I have to get off & wait on the platform for a train to resume the 'circle', or can I stay on as it travels in a circle as there is no such 'end of the line'?

  • Where is there free parking in London, outside the congestion charging zone?

I'm doing a little research now as in 2007 I hope to commute from Basingstoke to London. However, as a student I won't need to be in London 9-5 every day, yet I will need to be close to the congestion charging zone, without entering it. I would like free parking but a multi-storey with cheap rates for a few hours at a time would be ideal. Travelling closer into the city by tube or bus would be inevitable, but the shorter the distance, the better!
