Say you are allowed to have children until you have a female, and then may not have any more. Assume every couple has children until they have a female. Will girls outnumber boys, boys outnumber girls, or will they be equal?

I don't need the answer, just maybe the first few steps to thinking about this. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you!

This sounds really dumb, but I'm in college and I haven't done probability since sophomore year of high school! The question I have is this:

1% of the population has a certain gene.

You test positive for the gene.

The test is 90% correct.

What is the probability that you have the gene?

I'm not looking for the answer, just something to get me started. Would I go about it saying that there was a 90% probability I had the gene? I feel like that's way too obvious an answer, though.

You place a dead body, in a casket, in the ground. No chemicals or anything. On average (assume temperate climate) how long will it take to decay?

We're filming a set of movie episodes for my school's winter production. I'm the title character in my episode (Jess-Belle of the Twilight Zone) and the whole storyline is basically about my romance. But I'm a bit shy when it comes to guys / haven't had much experience (I'm a senior and the last / only guy I kissed was in November of sophomore year... you do the math so I'm a bit apprehensive, especially since my co-star is a *bit* of a player. How do I make it look alright on-screen, but not try for too much or too little?

Or do I have to shell out $25-$30 for a dedicated iPod car music cable?

In the beginning of Sinéad O'Connor's song "Never Get Old," Enya recites Psalms 91:11-13 in Irish Gaelic. Does anyone know what she's saying in the original Gaelic? I know what it translates to, but I can't find the original transcription anywhere.

I have a layer which basically has some black text on a white background, that's all - just black and white.

Is there a way for me to be able to select either all the white or all the black pixels?

I want just the text, not the white background, and no, I can't retype the text onto a transparent background; it's from a photo.
