Hi. This is a question for the real tax experts out there. A friend of mine got a fairly large weekly per diem for job-related travel expenses. This amount was NOT included anywhere on his W-2, neither in box 1, box 12 or box 14. He is on an unaccountable plan. My question is: does he need to report the per diem as income and then deduct the actual expenses *or* does he not report it as income and not deduct any travel expenses? Please cite the reference(s) with your answer. Thanks!

I'm interested in hearing some serious responses on how you have dealt with extreme anger and hatred for a family member. I don't live next door to this person but because of other family members and because of a desire to avoid cofrontation, I cannot get this person totally out of my life. My concern is how to keep my own sanity in the face of such strong negative emotion. I only want to hear serious, thoughtful responses.....no platitudes and no easy outs like see a counselor. I believe this is a natural part of the human condition and that there is wisdom out there on it, so if you have the wisdom to share please share it. If you don't have any personal wisdom, please don't respond.

Moved into my new home a year ago. The livingroom/diningroom/kitchen have an open floor plan and all share the same floral wallpaper. It has a warm or peachy light beige background and medium-sized flowers. Flowers are delicate, colored slate blue, warm medium tan/brown, and light tan/brown. None of my stuff from my old home seems to go very well with the wallpaper and I'm having a heck of a time figuring out what will go well with it. I lean toward a warm modern style and lively colors. All I can think is to try to match the medium-sized floral theme.......???? Need help with colors as well as pattern! Thanks.

Sometimes I get e-mails with a way wrong date. Is there any way to avoid searching through every single e-mail to find that one unread e-mail?

Does anyone have a recipe for that fried shrimp dish that you get in Asian restaurants where the head, tail and shell are left on and they get all crispy and delicious?
