Hi I haven't been on a bike outside the gym since I was about 15 (now a distant memory) and have just signed up to do a charity bike ride from coast to coast in England. I have just over 3 months to train and was wondering if anyone had any tips on training technique, where to source a decently priced bike, and what kind of equipment I should be looking for. Thanks!

I have a population data set, within this there are 4 regions, I want to run some simple descriptive stats on this data; mean, SD, SE etc. However in some cases there is only values for 3 or 2 of the regions, the other regions having a value of 0. this is not a problem for calculating the mean, but I was wondering what the correct procedure would be when calculating the SD, do I omit the data with the 0 values and calculate the SD based only on the data with values? I would have included the 0's however, when looking at a published paper I noticed than in a similar scenario, they published the SD values omitting the 0 values. I have included an example of what I mean below.

also I know there are few points which makes the data unreliable but this is not the issue at this time.

I don't mind how I get there as long as it doesn't take more than a day, as I need to catch a ship in St John's.

I have to get from Vigo in Spain to Lisbon in Portugal, I know there are bus and rail services but my Spanish is non-existant and so I can't figure out how much it will cost or how regular the services are. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

just wondering if people outside of Scotland have trouble understanding Glasvegas, as most of their music is very Glasgow inspired.

I think they are awesome just wondering how easy it is to appreciate them if they are difficult to understand.

We are starting in New orleans going to the Jazz fest, and then travelling west to LA then back East cross country, we have 2 and a half months to travell and stop in different places.

we are both girls 21 and 22 from Scotland is there anywhere that we shouldn't miss out? and any places we should avoid? we will be staying in hostels the whole time so any recommendations on good cheap ones would be much appreciated.

I'm staying in new orleans for jazz fest in april but we have booked into the best western inn at the airport, didn't realise how far out of town it was and i was wondering if anyone knew how easy it was to get to down town new orleans from the airport or roughly how much a taxi will be?

its an old movie about a bus accident, where the only survivor is a little boy and his mum. the ghosts of the other bus passengers get attached to the baby and have to live out their unfinished business through him when he is an adult. Its a comedy, and i know i've seen it a million times but i can't for the life of me remember what its called.

My friend has recently broken up with her girl friend and is finding the pickings a bit thin where we live (most of the lesbians in our area are a lot older than her: she's 21).

I'm not gay and am about to move to Glasgow and was wondering if anyone could tell me any clubs round there that I can take her to, to cheer her up and get her confidence back up.

my dream featured myself and 3 friends, though one was just mentioned and a phsycic. to give you a bit of background, the 4 of us are really good friends who work together. myself and friend 2 are about to graduate university with good degrees and have put in a lot of work, friend no 1 is just finished her 1st year at uni and friend 3 finished uni ages abo and has done nothing with it since.

me and friends 1 and 2 went to see a psycic who gave us porridge, she then told us to put nutmeg on our porridge, friend no 1 did and that was fine, she sort of took a back step out of the dream. friend no. 2 then put loads of nutmeg on hers, i mean way to much, then i went to put nutmeg on mine but i kept putting on the wrong stuff like salt or cinnamon so i couldn't eat my porridge.

then we asked the psycic about friend no. 3 and she said that " friend no.3 has had her $5 and used it, she won't get any more" then i woke up, any ideas?

anyone else think that simon is awesome and doesn't deserve some of the stick he gets sbout not being mark?
