how easy is it to travel from kenner to the french quarter?

I'm staying in new orleans for jazz fest in april but we have booked into the best western inn at the airport, didn't realise how far out of town it was and i was wondering if anyone knew how easy it was to get to down town new orleans from the airport or roughly how much a taxi will be?

thanks x

you can get a catch a bus or pay to ride the shuttle.

Airport Shuttle: Shuttle service is available from the airport to the hotels in the CBD for $13.00 (per person, one-way) or $26.00 (per person, round-trip). Three bags per person. Call 1-866-596-2699 or (504) 522-3500 for more details or to make a reservation. Advance reservations are required 48 hours prior to travel for all ADA accessible transfers. Please call well enough in advance for the specially-equipped shuttle to be reserved. For group reservations of 10 or more people please dial 1-866-596-2699. Ticket booths are located on the lower level in the baggage claim area. $2 fuel surcharge added to total fare.

The RTA service to Fest has returned to 2005 (Pre-K) routes and prices. No more $3 like last year. Fare is $1.25 each way, exact change, coins or bills.

And the Jefferson Transit E2 bus from the airport is again running all the way to Downtown (Elks Place).

The Best Western at the airport is nice, I was stranded at the airport once and had to stay there. It's really easy to get to the Quarter from there. From the airport to the West Bank cost me about $55 the time I took a taxi.

The french quarter is very safe and you should not have any issues. You see a high police presence to make people feel comfortable and keep it safe. And the national guard continues to support and lend a helping hand so you may seem them around town as well. The smartest thing to do is the same as with any larger city... dont walk alone and at night stick to well lite and more populated streets. The city of New Orleans is really getting a bad rap in my opinion. The press likes to focus on the negative. Have fun!

Kenner is not too far at all from the French Quarter, will take you about 20 mins I'd say. The taxi's will run you a bit. But, so would parking your own vehicle.

You may want to try changing hotels, you can actually get one closer to the quarter without spending a fortune. Book it online & you'll save quite a bit.

Good luck & hope you have fun.
