Colleges and University considerations...?
Hi I'm a 15 year old female who attends school in Maryland. I am an upcoming sophomore currently in the ib program. My grades aren't the best of my peers but I play soccer, softball and run track and received a varsity letter in the latter two as a freshman. Since my father is in the military I will be switching schools and possibly even moving states.
Being used to moving around I'm looking at higher level schools all over the country and even the world. I just don't know where to start. As of now I'm looking at University of Maryland (cp and bc included), U.Va, UCSB, UNH, University of Montreal, maybe a Rollins or another school in Florida, and Weslyean in CT.
In general I want to go to a universitie with a good vibe and is diverse and isn't just all ghetto people or hipsters. I'd prefer if it's more open minded about gays and such and a big plus for me is a place that has field hockey and lacrosse even if it's just as a sports club like at UCSB. I don't care much about about a schools prestige I just want a place where I can learn about the world and myself while enjoying the few years of youth I have. For what I want to study I really don't but if I had to choose now it would definitely be psychology and french or just any language worldwide. One more thing I prefer big schools with lots of people and a good amount to do in the area. Or at least aren't in the middle of nowhere.
Thanks

What is the equation of a parabola that goes through the points (0, 2) (-8, 0) and (8, 0). Can someone at least tell me how to find it.
3 AnswersMathematics8 years agoIs Lacrosse really fair?
I understand that they are 'separate' but should men and womens lacrosse really be so different. I just want your opinion on this. Because i am a girl who practically flipped a sh*t when i found out women's lacrosse is virtually no-contact. That was what i was expecting this whole time, and i am sure that there are some guys who wish they could play "women's style" lacrosse. Do you think this will ever change? Do you think it should?

Prompt; International Baccalaureate Diploma students have the opportunity to engage in a rigorous course
of studies with a diverse group of peers that highlights connections between the arts, foreign language, science, math,
English, and social studies. Please describe yourself as you study, work, and interact in your favorite class or activity
related to the focus of the International Baccalaureate Program. Be specific and choose your words carefully. Your response
must fit in the space below. Your response may be word processed and pasted in this space.
Essay; My work and study habits vary completely on the situation. For example when under pressure such as this essay I meticulously plan out every part in my head and end up revising all of it multiple times when is on paper, while light-heartedly cursing the creator of such a intricate writing prompt. Other than that, during normal conditions I get what needs to be done the smart way not necessarily hard way. Then I ask all the random questions that my curiosity comes up with later on.
In my favorite class, English, it’s another story. As usual, I get curious, but I take the path of most information to get to a solution instead of just the path of least resistance. Also, during English class I am able to find out how certain things connect to my life and other subjects. An example of this is when I read Animal Farm on my own I understood what the book was about. However, when I got into the classroom, I learned the history during which George Orwell lived and how the society drove him to write his novel. The best part about it is that we have the opportunity to philosophize with the class as a whole then express ourselves through writing.
Anyone can easily tell that English is my favorite class from my actions if not through the fact that I got over 250 on the most recent MAP-R. You could say that I’m a pretty mellow child normally but in actuality I’m constantly absorbing and connecting extra information. Sitting in the back and watching how the others react to trivial things is what I often do even when interacting. Whenever any class holds a Socratic Seminar or any philosophical discussion, though, I come out of my thick layer of thoughts and express my opinions. Often I’m taking a forefront in pushing the debate along. With all of this said, having lived on all four side of the U.S I am as open-minded as they come. Merging into a new culture is as easy as eating for me.
Everything I do whether it is studying, working, interacting, or finding connection between different subjects it is influenced by the fact that I’m a melting pot of cultures, and most definitely the situation. Having been introduced to more philosophy than the average teenager I always end up connecting different subjects. Whether it be consciously or not, finding an association between topics, using anything (from similes to complete philosophical theories), is a daily occurrence for me. All in all, soaking up information through work and study then revealing my true personality through interaction is my strongest talent, not including guitar hero of course.
thnx in advance for any comments
