Factor or Solve x^2-x-56=17x?

Ive tried subtracting 17x from both side but i get a run in with where to place the negatives. So then i just tried factoring without moving the 17x but i don't know what do do with it afterwords. Ps im going into eighth grade geometry.

    Yes, subtract 17x from both sides:

    x^2 - 18x - 56 = 0

    Use the quadratic formula:

    x = 9 ± √137
