  • How does the US government justify abstinence-only sex education?

"TEENAGERS in the United States who pledge to remain virgins until marriage are just as likely to have premarital sex as those who do not promise abstinence and significantly less likely to use condoms and other forms of birth control, a study published yesterday says."

    http://www.smh.com.au/news/world/virginity-pledge-...

How can the government and religious groups claim that abstinence-only sex education has any place in schools when study after study has shown how ineffective and dangerous it is?

  • Hot chocolate or a cup of tea?

Temperature here is about 5C and icy cold! I am just about to make myself some warm, buttery raisin toast as a late night snack, and hop into my snug warm bed and read a book.

Should I make a cup of tea or hot chocolate to go with it?

  • Has anyone tried acupuncture for their dog?

Our 3 year old Labrador has congenital megaosophagus. We have been reasonably successful in managing her condition, however, recently it has become worse and we are at a loss as to how to improve it.

I've read a few things suggesting that acupuncture can be helpful, so we were keen to find out a bit more about it, especially the cost and the number of treatments required (we have already spent thousands on trying to diagnose and treat her, and we really don't have a lot of money!)

Has anyone used acupuncture for their dog, particularly for megaosophagus and was it helpful?

  • Bikini waxing advice, please help!?

I know what a bikini wax involves, and I know what Brazilian wax involves. But what happens with a G-String wax? What is the difference and how much do they remove?

  • Where do you feed a snake?

From the reading I've done, it seems like most people recommend that you feed a snake in a separate container to it's usual enclosure. But I've also read that snakes need to be very warm to digest their food, and you can't handle them once they have been fed. So how do you do it? Do you need 2 separate containers all set up with heating etc?

  • My 2yo daughter obsessed with crying?

My very happy, content, bubbly 2.5y.o. daughter has a great imagination and is always playing games with her toys - she makes them talk and play and have adventures etc. (very funny to watch!) Lately she has lots of games where her toys are crying and inconsolable. Sometimes it is Cinderella crying because she can't go to the ball, and sometimes the toys are just sad. i can't really get a reason out of her. She also makes me draw sad, frowny faces whenever we are drawing.

Our daughter rarely cries, herself, because she is sad. Only if she is cross because we won't let her have/do something (typical toddler!) She doesn't have irrational fears, night terrors, hasn't had any major changes in her life, and she has a mum and dad who love her heaps, and give her loads of love and attention.

Any advice? Does she have some deep-seated sorrow that she just can't express? Or is it just a silly phase that she is going through while she comes to terms with her different emotions.

I am looking to get a corn snake for a first family pet snake, and I'm having trouble finding out whether they are covered under the NSW reptile keepers licence.
