  • CLYDE-WARE COOKWARE (POTS & PANS)?

I am looking for any information on Cylde-Ware Cookware (pots & pans). I have been unable to find anything online about them. I do know, from the back of them, that they are stainless, 18-8, and mfg in Chicago, IL. I would like to know if they are oven-proof and if so, to what temp. The lids are solid, not glass. Thanks for the help!

  • Straightening needlepoint pillows?

I have 2 needlepoint pillow tops that are approximately 40 -45 years old, if not older, that belonged to my grandmother. Due to everyone sitting on them (lol) they have lost their shape. I would like to replace the backs on them as the old ones have dry-rotted, but the fronts are mishapped. Any ideas on how to straighten them so I can put new backs on them and re-stuff them? I will be doing this all by hand, so as to be extra careful with them

  • Cats and essential oils?

know I asked a similar question a few days ago and got wonderful answers about making air fresheners, but in doing more research I've thought of something else. I want to make a carpet freshener as well, and I think I have a pretty good recipe for it. The problem is that is it involves essential oil and that you leave on the carpet over night and I have a cat. My questions are as follows. 1. Is this a good idea to leave it on overnight? 2. What oils are harmful to cats? 3. If this is not a good idea, what other suggestions do you have. I am on a limited income as I am on disability, and I really like the idea of do things more "green." The few things I have attempted thus... well, let's just say, I can't believe how different I feel every day! As always, thanks in advance for everyone's wisdom. Have a great and safe weekend!

Edit** The recipe I have is

    1/2 C baking soda

    1/2 C corn flour

15 drops essential oil (such as lime, lemon, orange, ect...)

I thought that combo would have helped to keep the carpet from staining. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I'll keep that in mind!

  • How do you handle a friend like this?

I have a friend, when it's convenient for her that is. Over the past few years, I've been made to feel like a third class citizen or a member of her enteronge. Right now, yet again, she is around her "champange taste, beer budget" friends as I call them. If you don't have money, don't tell her she looks hot, don't think she a princess, then in her book, you are lower than s***. She is at least 8 years older than I am, and acts like a young, spoiled teenager. I am in my early 40's. Here is an example that happens frequently. When we have went out in the past, she wears next to nothing so as to draw attention to herself. However, when people look at her, she whines about it, that she is being looked at. What a Drama Queen! If she doesn't feel she is being treated properly, she will run outside to call her Mummy on her cell - even at her age! During the winter, yet again, wearing next to nothing, because she has to look "hot" and show her tatoos, she whines that she is cold! I have seen squirrils with more fur on them that she has clothes. She was once a large figured woman who wanted to lose weight and she did! She did a great job! The trouble is, she has had, and still has, a problem with food. She litterly walked off the weight and starved herself. She lost approximatly 200 lbs in 1 year without seeing a doctor. Now she still isn't eating properly, still speed walks, still starves herself, thinks she fat when all you see is bones, will NOT go to a doctor to be checked out, complaines about feeling her heart beating so fast.... Still, most of the time, honestly, I can't help but feel that she is pulling her Princess rountine that she's so proud of and being the Drama Queen. After all it's about her and ONLY her. She has asked and I have tried to pliolly explain to her about these issues until I am blue in the face. She wonders why the women she works with complains about the she dresses. I've tried to explain to her that if I had kids, I wouldn't want her to dress that want around them. She works with special needs children. Don't get me wrong - she dresses very nicely - for going to a bar every night. The kids do not need to see that much skin at school. The kids don't need her to pull her Princess routine and not do her job because she's "delicate". I have now explain in the folllowing fashion simply because I am fed up: "You look like a dried up old hag attemping to dress like a 19 year old what-a-be. If you wear you top any lower, you t*** will fall out and if you wear you clothes any shorter you p***** will flash when you walk let alone when you sit and announce that you can cross your legs! I understand she's proud of the work she has done on her body, but she comes across as desprete. The conversation has been going on for years. I'm stubborn, I can hang on. I've been there since the beginning. The problem now is she's driving others away and she doesn't want to hear why. Do I keep be blunt and keep repeating myself?

  • Disability and garnishments?

I have been making payments on a bill (small, I agree, but payments). I have not been told in anyway that these payments were not satisfactory in any way, shape, or form. A judgment has been received against me and I have continued my payments, again nothing has been said, even though I have written letters asking questions and have receive no answers. I have kept copies of my letters that I have mailed out to the company. Now, I have a court date for a garnishment hearing in October. According to SSA, my SS check cannot be garnished, but the creditor can put a freeze on my account. What does that mean and how does that work? Does that mean that they can take all of my check in one month so that I can't pay any of my other bills? Or, does that mean that they will be taking a set amount out each month until this is paid off? Do I continue to make my payments, go to court (which I intend to do), show the judge that I have been making payments, show him my letters and proof of payments, and hope that I don't end up with a garnishment? My SS check is my only income. Any help would great. Thanks in advance everyone! Hope everyone had a great and safe holiday!

  • Weight loss advice while being partial disabled?

Ok, here's good one for every out there. And, please, no rude comments, as this is a serious question. I am diabetic, (this is under control), I watch what I eat, I weigh it, I measure it, I log it, my sugar, cholesterol etc is all down according to my last Dr. apt. However, my weight has stalled. I am partial disabled and am home-bound pretty much all the time. I am unable to walk much, so I ride an indoor bike for exercise. Any suggestions on what else I could do to lose the extra weight. I have limited control on my left side and limited feeling on both sides. Hope that's enough info! Thanks in advance! Oh, I also do exercises that I got from physical therapy to help keep as limber as possible every day.

  • ending olympic ceremonies?

Did anyone else think that the Mayor of London seemed to have an attitude problem let alone no idea on how to dress properly for the Ceremonies? He looked like a slob! He didn't button his suit, acted like he owned the place and that he was doing everyone a big big favor just by being there. Then, when he was handed the Olympic flag, he jerked it around as if he didn't know what to do with it (I understand there did seem to be a problem with wind, but the other two gentlemen handled it gracefully), then shoved it to the handler (as though he couldn't get rid of it fast enough), showing no reverence (for lack of a better term) at all for the idea or purpose of the games. He was more interest in waving and playing up the politics when Britain already has the next Games. I feel he is an embarrassment to the English people and it makes me wonder what their Ceremonies will be like. The British people are usually more put together than this and now this "hick" struts out this? What a difference between reverence to a tradition and cheap show. As a general rule I do not watch sports with the exception of the Olympics, and even with all the nay-saying that has gone with these I have enjoyed them. However, if the Mayor of London is already acting like this, he either needs to learn to dress properly, learn some grace, learn some manners, or perhaps, someone other than the mayor should be the person who face is the one who is seen. He is representing the country of the next Games. He needs to put the best face (and picture) forward possible.
