  • American boyfriend move to Canada with Canadian Girlfriend temporarily?

Hi, all the immigration stuff is fairly complicated so hopefully someone here can clarify it a bit and help me figure out what applies to my situation.

I am trying to figure out how it would be possible for my American boyfriend to move to Canada and live with me temporarily while I finish school? It is tricky to understand what applies to us. Some information implies that he could move here tomorrow with no problems, just not work. Is that accurate?

Could he just move here to live with me? How would he go about getting a work visa from there? Could he work as a contract worker without a work visa? We would only be living here for maybe 3 years. I read something somewhere saying after 6 months of living here, it would be alot easier for him to get a work visa if he can find a job.

We just don't want to spend the next 3 years apart. Could anyone clarify things a bit for me? We just want to be together while I finish school, and then we'll go from there.

  • HELP! Attach paper to fabric!?

Ready to rip my hair out over a project that is already overdue. How should I attach heavy brown paper to light fabric? Paper on paper is not working. It is having trouble adheering to itsself in a permanent way while still remaining somewhat flexible. I figure if I use fabric as a base, it will be flexible enough to manipulate as needed.

I have on hand, fabric stiffner, white glue, and carpenters glue. But I can probably get something else fairly easily.

  • How do I remove my sliding closet doors?

The closet doors in my new apartment bedroom are broken. And I don't want them, they make it extremely difficult to get into the closet.

They hang, and should be in the lower track but most of them aren't. I've tried lifting them, but it didn't work. So I climbed up there to look at the track and the roller things. I can't even find a picture of the hardware on the internet to show you what they look like.

But there is only one roller, and it fits completely in the track, as in you can't lift it up and out. I am assuming they are fairly old. I need to get them out ASAP, and I'd rather not have to remove anything I don't have to because I'm going to be putting them up in another room.

Up there on the hardward there are some little things that stick out, that look like notches or something, on the main piece of metal. I can't see any screws to remove, or anything like that either.

There is one long screw, that LOOKS like you unscrew it to lower the door/raise the door. If I unscrewed both sides, would that possibly give me the space to remove the doors?

Any suggestions welcome, other than asking my landlord to do it. Thats useless, if I want it done I'll have to do it myself.

  • What is a healthy weight for the parents of a tiny dog?

Please read: I do NOT want a 'teacup' or 'purse' puppy.

I am looking into getting a small lap dog, I am thinking a Maltese x Shih Tzu. But, I need one small enough to travel with easily to take home to my parent's house for the weekend sometimes.

Some of the advertisements say one of the parents was only 4 lbs. That seems kind of scary. Would a dog between 6 and 8 lbs be considered a healthy weight for an adult small dog?

I don't want a little baby who is going to be sick within a few weeks of coming home with me, and I don't want to encourage people to breed unhealthy dogs.

I know a Yorkie that is only 6 lb right now, but she is still a baby. She should be 8 lb fully grown. She is active and healthy, and extremely playful.

Can that be applied to Maltese x Shih Tzu, or other crosses with those breeds? Will a 6-8 lb adult dog be healthy?

  • How do I make store-bought gluten free bread edible?

So, started a gluten free diet. I didn't know how tough the stuff you get in the stores is until it was too late. Is there any way to make it more tolerable? In the future I will make my own bread or buy it from a bakery I think lol.

  • Why am I vomiting white foam?

I'm used to throwing up, I do it several times a week (no, I'm not pregnant, and no I don't know whats wrong lol) it always happens in the morning, and usually its just clear liquid/yellow bile. Recently I've started to vomit up white foam. I have not changed my habits at all, everything I could find says its from an empty stomach, but my stomach is always empty and this has never happened before. Any suggestions or should I call my doctor?

And I can't eat yet, by this afternoon I should be able to. But right now even a sip of water makes my gag reflex kick in.

  • Remove old fake blood stain from white clothing?

Two years ago I was Little Red Ridinghood for Halloween, and afterwards we used my costume for a photo shoot. The white part at the top ended up covered in fake blood!

I tried to get it out at the time, but was not sucessful. So the stain has been washed into it, but I wasn't too worried because the prize money I won was more than the cost of the costume lol.

But I need a costume and would like to at least try and get the stain out.

I cannot soak the dress in anything. The top is white cotton (not sure on %) but the rest is red and black velvet. So I need something I can put on just parts of it.

Is there something I can do with bleach? I mean, if the costume ends up ruined, I'm not in a much worse position than I was before.

  • What kind of jewelry for painful lobe piercing?

So, the piercings aren't new lol. I've got my lobes pierced twice, once when I was little. The second time like...6 years ago? 7?

Anyways, whenever I put earrings in, its really painful. I had stopped and started wearing earrings all the time years ago. They are completely healed.

Suddenly though, anything I tried hurt! I've only got pretty stuff now, but I think I have to retrain my ears to wearing jewelry.

What is the best type of earrings to do that? What metal, and what shape? Would rings be better? I miss wearing earrings!

    Help?

  • How do I completely delete my wireless networks and start from scratch?

I'm 99.9% sure my wireless router is broadcasting an unsecured network. And I can't find any of the networks it should be broadcasting on my laptop, which could always find them before.

So how do I completely delete every single network on the wireless? The computer the router is attached to runs Windows XP.

I've tried doing the things I found on google, but none of them did ANYTHING or I couldnt find the right place!

So could someone give me a hand? I've tried pressing and holding the reset button on the back of the actual router and it doesn't do a single thing but restart it. The unsecured network comes back on after a few seconds.

I want to completely erase any trace of there ever being a wireless router and start from scratch. How do I do that?

  • Would a hot tub do more harm than good for arthritis or other joint problems?

I have about a 2 month wait until I see a rheumatologist. It is likely that I have arthritis, fibromyalgia or some other joint disorder/problem of some kind.

But in the mean time, I am in unbelievable pain a great deal of the time. I am only 19.

I have some swelling in my knees, hips, and ankles...

Would sitting in a hot tub help? Or could I do more damage than good?

I mean I've gone this long without it...if there is a risk of making things worse, I can continue to live without it. But if there is a chance it would help provide temporary relief, it would be worth it right? So is it bad or good for arthritis/unknown joint disorder?

  • If my landlord refuses to give me receipts what do I do?

I am trying to get receipts for the rent I paid in 2008 for my tax return. If my landlord refuses to give me receipts what do I do? I don't think they will send them to me. And is it their responsibility in Ontario to supply them?
