Hotep, I never know what to put in these boxes. How does one describes them self without sounding arrogant or self centered? Honestly, I don’t think I am very interesting, but I have been around. Everyday I struggle, I struggle to learn more and to do more; I struggle to be a decent human being. I have been to the "Garden of Eden", I've been to the "holiest of holies", I've been in the belly of the beast, I've been to war, I have fed the hungry...and everyday someone tells me I haven’t done sh*t. I guess I am just another person traveling the road of self discovery and enlightenment. Salaam, Shalom, Peace

  • Has America become the "The Empire? "?

I am NOT referring to your typical large Global player, for example Rome, the British Empire or the USSR, but to the nation state that was represented in the Star Wars movies? I am not suggesting that any nation with whom America Wars, are the rebels, the good guys. From my travels I have discovered that the world is not divided into good guys and bad guys, but bad guy and worse guys? Having said that, however is America intentions to control not only her population, but the whole world?

  • "Know the truth and the truth shall set you free", what does this verse mean to you?

Whether you are christian, jew, muslim, believer or non believer, you must admit that there are some powerful thoughts within the bible, as elsewhere. I found this to be one of the more poignant lessons within the bible, although the writer left out a very important step, that being acting upon the truth. However, regardless of its incompleteness, have you in your life found a truth that has set you free?

Please include your religious belief, thanks.

  • When did the definition of "White", racially speaking changed?

I admit I have been away for a while, not doing hard time mind you, but living abroad, so it is possible I have not been paying attention. Still, I do not remember this being the definition of "White": White- A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa. Furthermore, not only is this new to me, but this definition is quite flawed. Does anybody notice the obvious flaw in this definition?

  • Did you know god died yesterday, Dec 22nd?

This should be of great interest to believers, but also to non believers, philosophers and historians alike, knowing when god died and why.

  • Is islam the new christianity?

Consider for a moment that both, christianity and islam, were met with suspicion and distrust when they came in contact with the West.

Furthermore, both were/are resisted violently by the government, then Rome, now the US and Western Europe.

Lastly, the followers of both religions have behave quite violently and were associated with terrorism.

    What is your view?

  • Is it Western Religion, christianity and judaism, that causes the West to support Israel?

The West, America and Europe supports Israel blindly regardless of their actions, even when Israel behaves like a totalitarian, apartheid state similar to WWII Germany or South Africa. I thought the reason for this was religious, but many in the West are nonreligious. Please, give me your opinion, is it religious, political or maybe "racial" identity?

  • What do children owe their parents?

Having spent the holidays with my parents and other parents, I have noticed that parents think their children owe them something. Furthermore, this is the view of all the "Holy Texts", but holy text or not, it must still pass the logic test. Logically speaking, no child has ever asked to be born, so all that parents do for their children is what a parent should do, as they made the decision to bring a life into existence. Aside for the usual pleasantries, what do children owe their parents?

Please tell me your view, and what if anything supports your view, ie. religion, philosophy or other?

  • The world is obviously going to Hell in the proverbial hand basket, what can we do?

I pose this question here for believers, nonbelievers, agnostics, theists and deists alike. We as a world are facing war, rumours of wars, poverty, disease and the meltdown of society, what do we do? This seems to be the most appropriate place for this question, as it falls finally again to philosophy to bring enlightenment and salvation. However, philosophy and the philosopher has been hijacked and render obsolete by the extreme fringe of philosophy itself, those elements being religion and science. Science has promised to be our saviours, but it has really been a "devil", all it has given us is useless technology and a greater and more spectacular means of destroying ourselves; nuclear bombs, high tech enslavement, and radio active waste, but no useful medicines or ways to save the earth.

Religion on the other hand, decry science and all its evils, but religion has been as is now, the greatest motivating factor to soldiers. Moreover, religions answer is to wait for a saviour to fix the problems of this world; but since you are waiting, why don't you just bow down in servitude to whatever dogma is asserted by the religion. Suffice to say religion is nothing but a control mechanism which has done little to better the world.

Yet it is philosophy that is under fire from both. Science view and asserts that philosophy is a trivial pursuit of no use in this era, and aside for teaching and perhaps writing, science have accomplished that. While religion seeks to keep the captive mindless, ie. For it is written," I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart. Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?" 1 Corinthians 1:19-20; surely religion is seeking to silence the philosopher by this writing.

So, it is my opinion that it falls to philosophy and philosophers to come to the rescue before too late. We each must strive to be better philosophers in life. Remember, philosophy is the search for "Truth" not belief (religion) or technology (science); know the truth and the truth shall set you free. It is the middle path which we should travel. I belief it is only through a new and radical way of thinking can we stop the impending doom.

Tell me, what do you think, what steps can we take? If you wouldn't mind, please tell me your religious background or philosophical views?

    Thanks

  • Is Islam a religion of peace?

Yes or No? Please provide some evidence to support your position.

If you could indulge me, whether or not Islam is a religion of peace, is there any "religion of peace", and again provide some evidence?

  • In the West, we can bash any religion, right?

Not that I support the bashing of anyone's faith, but the moment judaism or the followers of judaism (jews), are spoken of in a unflattering manner, you are immediately targeted and silenced? I wasn't a big lover of Rick Sanchez (CNN), but what he said was not antisemitic, maybe a little hurtful, but the truth often is. Pretty much, before he was finished with the interview, his career was finished.

Is it because they are the only Anglo group of people for which the world still must grieve, and any unflattering comment strikes a cord with our guilt, sort of like picking on a handicapped kid; you just cant do it. However, might the truth behind this lie in the power of that community, everything from banking, to Hollywood and politics is controlled or heavily influenced by ultra-rich, elite members who subscribes to the religion of judaism?

  • Is America on the verge of fracturing? Yes or No?

If the answer is in the affirmative, is it due to the political climate in America? Please give some detail as to why you hold that belief. Additionally, do you feel it is because of the president?

I have just recently returned to the states after living abroad for a few years, and the atmosphere here is almost explosive. I seen more goodwill at a klan rally, are our political leaders orchestrating this?

  • Is America on the verge of fracturing? Yes or No?

If the answer is in the affirmative, is religion the cause, an excelerant or helping to calm the situation? Yes or no, and please explain why?

I have just recently returned to the states after spending a few years abroad, I have never seen or felt such anger and bitterness; outside a barroom brawl of course. In my opinion, the religious institutions have a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate to the world the positive aspect of religions, and why it is still relevant; but I fear they might not be up to the challenge.

  • A QUESTION FOR BELIEVERS AND NONBELIEVERS, IS AN ATHIEST IN ESSENCE GOD'S DOUBT IN HIM/HERSELF?

This is in no way a stab at "Believers" or "Nonbelievers", but a rather interesting question, in my humble opinion, worth pondering. I am not an Atheist, but I do not view God in the cartoonish description in the "Holy" writings. If God, the creator exists, He/She/It would be the very atoms and subatomic particles that make up the Universe and all things within, humans included. As we all know, a sign of sentience or consciousness, is to be aware of ones own existence. Sentient beings also have doubt, even animals display doubt. So, when an Atheist professes nonbelief, is it not also God, who exist in this nonbelievers doubting His/Herself?

  • In your opinion, was my actions correct?

Recently, about a month past, I had the opportunity to watch someone attempt suicide; dont worry the person is not dead. However, after the person failed and was disarmed, I was chastised for not attempting to stop this individual. My rationale for not attempting to stop the individual was simple, he was not "bothering me"; this was a personal choice which he exercised. I did not believe I had the right to interfere with him exercising a choice that in noway harmed me or others. So, please tell me if you think my actions were correct or not. Also, please provide a reason or justification for your opinion and your religious preference? I am not seeking forgiveness or your understanding, I am merely curious as to your views on the subject.

    Thanks
