  • I have a pretty nasty ingrown toenail, it's a repeat offender...?

I've made an appointment for this Friday at 9:30am to hopefully get the entire nail removed as this will be the third time in a year and a half that it's bothered me. And this procedure has been recommended by my podiatrist for "next time" as well. But I have to work at 4pm Friday, and I kind of don't want to call in if I don't have to. I work at a job with lots of standing and a bit of walking. I'm wondering if I will be able to go to work after this procedure or will I have to call in? It'll only be a four hour shift. I will have Saturday off so that won't be a problem. Anyone with experience in this area would be wonderful. I'm kind of nervous. Thanks.

  • Why is there oil in my air intake hose?

I have a 2004 Chevy Cavalier and I took it to get an oil change today and the mechanic found a lot of nasty, used looking oil in the air intake hose. What could be the problem and also how much would it cost to repair? I just want to be able to have the money for it. Thanks.

  • Thousand Foot Krutch fans? Help please?

So I really love the band Thousand Foot Krutch. I went to my first concert of theirs in February, and it was incredible. I am seriously considering planning a road trip to Pittsburgh next March for another concert. But here's the thing. I read on a TFK fan page that the guys usually do free meet and greets about 15 minutes after their shows end. I really had my heart set on meeting the band last time but I found out hours after I'd already gone home.

My question is, can anyone confirm this for me? I'll probably still go to their concert in Pittsburgh because they're one of my favorite bands. I just want to know if I should expect the possibility of a meet and greet or not. Thanks :3

  • In your experience what is the best repair shop to go to?

I'm thinking of getting a remote starter installed on my mom's 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan as a Christmas present this year, and I'm aware of the fact that one wrong move could cause thousands of dollars of damage. I'm looking for a national shop with professional and very extensively trained employees. Hopefully there is such a place, haha. Any suggestions would be lovely, and true examples would be great as well. Thanks!

  • Questions about a remote car starter?

I'm thinking about getting my mom a remote car starter for Christmas as she has been wanting one for several years now. But the thing is, I'm not sure if installing something like that after the car's been out awhile would cause complications or what. She has a 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan and I just really hope it wouldn't cause like electrical issues or anything. Any educated opinions would be great as I am seriously considering this and I don't want her van to break down.

  • Planning a trip to the Thousand Islands... Help please?

I'm planning a trip to the Thousand Islands next spring and I've never been there. Basically what I'm wondering is which islands are full of fun touristy things to do, and which hotels are affordable but nice. Also staying on the American side of the Islands would be preferable as I don't have an enhanced driver's license or a passport or anything. Thanks.

  • What episode of Doctor Who was this meme taken from?

I've been seeing it a lot if someone posts a particularly sad photo, and I've seen all of David Tennant's episodes as the Doctor at least once. I obviously missed this one, so I was just wondering if anyone else knew what episode it was from or if it was from a deleted scene or what. Thanks :P

  • How can I personally achieve salvation through Jesus Christ?

I haven't necessarily grown up going to church every single Sunday, but I did go a lot. And I remember it was usually with my great aunt, because for whatever reason my mom chose not to go. I know Jesus died for me, and I believe that there will be great things waiting for me in heaven when I die. I call myself a Christian, but here's where it gets tough for me.

I have always felt empty inside despite knowing God exists and having lots of personal evidence to prove it. Things that are just too close to home to be coincidences, like when I went to a concert of one of my favorite bands in February. I made an offhand remark to my friend that it was a great night, and the only thing that could make it better was free parking. Well, God was listening and He gave me free parking. Turns out I'd chosen a parking garage that closed about an hour after my concert let out, and after making a couple calls the owner was more than happy to send someone to let me get my car for free.

I've had way too many answered prayers to be able to brush them off as coincidences, even if I wanted to, and what really makes me sad is knowing that I don't deserve them. Sure I may not be a "bad" sinner, i.e. I don't do drugs or drink, I'm saving myself for marriage, etc. but I am still a sinner. It just makes me so sad knowing that I haven't properly accepted Jesus into my life yet, and I don't want it to be too late before I decide to fix that.

My question is, how can I as an individual go about truly accepting Jesus into my heart and experiencing that wonderful sense of peace people keep talking about? I don't really like reading the Bible, and that's another thing I want to change. But first, redemption. I want to be the kind of person who can shout about her faith joyously no matter where she is, but I know that is going to take a lot of work. Help, please?

  • In Doctor Who, what's so bad about Cardiff anyway?

In S1E3, The Unquiet Dead, when Rose and the Doctor landed in 1869 Cardiff on Christmas Eve, why is the Doctor so disgusted? Is there something wrong with Cardiff? I'm not from the UK so hopefully it makes sense why I'm confused.

  • How to Clean a Laptop Keyboard toshiba satellite?

Long story short I accidentally spilled a small amount of water on the keyboard last night and now I have to use the onscreen keyboard to type this out. Is there any way to fix it because I can't afford a new one at the moment thanks

  • How can I reteach myself to type properly?

And by properly, I mean with all of my fingers; I've grown up typing with just my two pointer fingers and occasionally my right middle finger hits the delete button if I think about it. And now it's starting to bother me because I don't like seeing all of my other fingers just sticking up in the air as my pointer fingers do all the work lol. I've tried to rewire my fingers the way I want them to type, but the attempts usually don't last for more than a second or two because it's so slow trying to reteach my fingers and the way I've always done it is faster for me. I know it's possible, I just need a method that works. Thanks in advance :D

  • Does classic Doctor Who get better?

I don't mean this in any way to be rude, but I've become a fan of new Who recently and I decided it would be a good idea for me to go back and see how the show has managed to last so long. Well I tried William Hartnell, no dice. Apparently he's an acquired taste. Ah well. So I moved on to Patrick Troughton because I heard good things about his time as the Doctor. The acting was good enough I suppose, but considering I'm a 90s baby the special effects were terrible, and it just couldn't catch my attention.

I want so badly to like classic Who as well as new Who because I find it annoying when someone's only seen a fraction of a show and calls themself a huge fan and I didn't want to be that person myself. So I'm just wondering if the story lines get better as they go along. Also, sorry if I offend anyone unintentionally.

One more thing, is every episode available as an audio version as well or just certain episodes? I think audio versions would suit me better.

  • Where can I buy/watch classic Doctor Who?

I'm just about caught up with the new Doctor Who, with Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant and Matt Smith, and I don't want to be that person that thinks they know everything about a series but have only seen part of it. Plus I just really want to see Classic Who as well, to see how the show I know and love originated. I have Netflix, but that doesn't have all of the episodes of Classic Who; probably just the best ones. I have been searching the web trying to find the old episodes in their entirety but probably not hard enough, as I have not found them yet.

If anyone knows where I could find and hopefully buy Classic Doctor Who, that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance :D

  • How can I transfer my music on iTunes from my old computer to my new one?

I have attempted to use home sharing, but with all the new iTunes updates lately, I am just so confused as to how to do anything other than turn it on (which I've done on both computers). But when I downloaded iTunes onto my new computer the other day, all that showed up were a handful of albums. I have a lot more music that hasn't been transferred. This disappointed me as I was under the impression that with my Apple ID and password, ALL of my music would stay on iTunes in case I got a new iPod/computer.

Anyway, since that isn't the case, I wish to fix that problem. I just don't know how to do so :/ Any suggestions would be lovely, thanks!

  • So I think I found my dream career, but I have a few questions?

For most of my life, I've been in love with books. When I was in first grade, I was reading at a 6th grade level. I once read Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in three days flat. I'm getting to a point here- my dream job obviously involves working with books. I would love to be an editor at a big book publishing company like Scholastic or Harper Collins, but in the meantime I've discovered a (hopefully) much more attainable career- becoming a high school librarian. I've thought over the possibility of doing that with my life, and the more I consider it, the more excited I become.

I believe being a high school librarian is my calling; I've done a fair bit of searching online to discover what sort of major I would need in college, where I could look to find a job after college, etc. but so far what I've seen isn't very informative. I would like to know the following:

    -necessary major(s)

-where to find colleges that have those majors

-how likely I would be to find a job, and how soon

    -starting pay

-what degree is necessary for this job; like is an Associates degree alright or do I need to go for a Bachelor's?

Anything else you think I need to know would be lovely as well! Hopefully there are some experienced school librarians on this site that can help me on my way. :)

  • How can I research my family heritage for free?

I have been curious lately to find out exactly who my ancestors are and what my bloodline is and whatnot. Like, my uncle claims that my family are direct descendants of Pocahontas, but I don't exactly know whether or not to believe him. And I'm also certain that I'm part Irish and German, but again not a hundred percent sure. I would just like a way to confirm all of that and more, cost-free. Doesn't necessarily have to be online, but I would also prefer not to have to embark on a wild-goose chase. Thanks :)

  • Has anyone else had this issue while playing Super Mario Galaxy?

Alright, so I'm not entirely sure this problem is just on my copy because it was given to me as a gift from my local used video game store, but I've briefly considered that possibility. Anyway, I've gathered enough stars (Luma? I don't remember :P) to move on to The Fountain, the next level. But the problem is, I'm not advancing. Rosalina keeps telling me that I have to go back to the garage and talk to my friends there. So I do.

I go back and gather the lives from Princess Peach, and the ones hidden inside the wooden crate. Then I go and talk to every character over there. And when I return to Rosalina to see if I can advance yet, she tells me again to go to the garage because my friends have something to tell me. I've repeated the same process multiple times to no avail, and all I want is to continue on and be able to have a shot at completing the game and moving on to the sequel. Has anyone else run into this issue? Help would be greatly appreciated :P

  • My friend's older sister wants a very specific baby book, where can I find it?

She is pregnant with a girl, and due I think in January. My friend doesn't have internet, so she asked if I could find the book and give her all the information so she can buy it for her sister. I've looked everywhere I can think of, with no positive results :P the sister wants a baby book with butterflies on the cover, for the child's first five years of life. I've found plenty that can record a child's first five years, but none with any butterflies whatsoever. Any ideas where I can find one like that, hopefully cheap? My friend doesn't have a lot of money, considering she has an infant daughter herself. Thanks in advance :D

  • How do I politely inform Walmart management of my availability change?

I got hired somewhere else about a week ago and they are more than willing to wait until I change my Walmart availability (in case the new job doesn't work out, I need a source of income to pay for my car). So I filled out the necessary form and put it in the mailbox of the assistant manager in charge of such things. I don't know if she got it or not, but it hasn't been put into the system yet. I start this new job November 12th, and I will only be available after that on Fridays and weekends.

And here lies the problem. I'm scheduled to work on the 12th and 13th, when I'll be at the new job. And also they have me scheduled on Sunday the 11th until 11pm and that won't work either because the new job's hours are 6:00am-4:30pm Monday thru Thursday. Walmart also neglected to approve my request for days off in the middle of September, which I put in TWO MONTHS EARLY. It was to go see my younger brother graduate Marines bootcamp, and all they could tell me was "here's a list of cashiers available those days, go see if they will take them." I'm getting sick of Walmart management and their laziness, but until I find a better job I know is permanent, I have to deal with them.

So, I don't really feel like getting on anyone's bad side while I still need a job there. How can I ask said assistant manager politely if she got my availability change request without revealing the precise reason why I suddenly need to change it?

  • What is the name of this book?

Last Sunday at church, one of the pastors was telling us about a book whose title is escaping me, about these guys from Sierra Leone who go to Syracuse, NY for some reason. And they are so amazed that we have toilets and running water, and stuff we take for granted every day.

The reason I am asking is because I think I might be interested in reading this book, but I forgot to write it down when I was told the name. Please help?
