  • Mothers who breastfeed and formula feed daily?

    I both breastfeed and formula feed daily due to trouble getting my supply started. About 30% is formula. My question is, 'what is your baby's poop like?'

    My baby seems to have two very different types. One looks like breastfed poop the other I guess is a formula one. They don't seem to mix together. Baby usually only goes once a day, but it is usually one or the other (mostly formula ones).

    Anyone else find their baby is the same or different??

  • Is your baby on Losec for their reflux?

    Sorry it's long!

    My 3 month old has been on Losec suspension for a while now and it took a while and a very high dose, but we saw improvement. At one point I noticed she was really improving (I could lie her on her back or tummy for a play if she hadn't just eaten). She has always slept very badly during the day and likes to doze on a pillow on my lap at home. I can't put her down to sleep! Anyway, she always slept well at night (went to bed easily and usually only woke once for a feed) and was occasionally having a decent sleep during the day, but she is now not sleeping in the day and is waking twice a night and taking 1.5hrs-3hrs to settle off to bed. Waking twice doesn't seem too bad, but it is usually another 1.5hrs before I can get her back to bed so it is really not a lot of sleep. She seems to either still be in some pain or remember it because she still gets very upset when I go to put her on her back, but she also hates to be put down full stop. Does anyone have a child that is like this? I have developed tendonitis in my hands and problems with my shoulders because she needs to be carried. I do have a carrier (Baby Bjorn) and I often put her in that if I am up and about, but I can't sit down with her in it and she hates a sling.

    My questions are;

    1. Does your baby have bad reflux and take Losec?

    2. If so what is your experience and when did it improve for you?

    3. Did you investigate a milk protein allergy? ( I am breastfeeding and topping up with formula due to supply issues).

    4. I am thinking of buying a swing. Have they helped your baby? Is it worth the money?

    Sorry it is long. It's been a stressful week and I have been sick with gastro, so it has been a little harder to cope with. Thank you for your time!

  • Is your reflux baby tense? Have you used a chiropractor for your baby?

    Today I went to a mother's group and we lay edthe babies down beside each other for a photo. My baby was all scrunched up and tense and awkward looking (even in her sleep). All the other babies looked soft and so much more relaxed. She has reflux and colic and is on losec, but she is still very unhappy. We tried a chiropractor today and there were a number of alignment issues with her spine. We go back again in a couple of days for more treatment. She was a breech presentation throughout pregnancy and ended up stuck under my ribs and her head was a little mishappen at birth, but looks pretty normal now. I wonder if the position in utero is causing this tension in her body and her unhappiness? Please let me know if you have experienced anything like this. She is so miserable and I feel so helpless.
