A traveler must reach a town on the other side of a river. The river (assumed straight) flows 5 miles North of the starting point of the traveler and is 1 mile wide. The town is 6 miles North and 5 miles West of the starting point. The traveler speed is of 5 miles/hour on the ground and 1 miles/hour in water.

How far West of the initial position should the traveler get to the river to minimize the time of travel?

-This was a problem on my most recent exam, for which out of 25 points I received only 5 for drawing a diagram. I'm unsure how to create the function necessary to then use to optimize a minimal time of travel.

I have a 2003 Mazda Tribute with no cassette tape drive, only radio and CD drive. I'd like to be able to hook up my iPod as opposed to make tons of audio CDs.

I recently bought it used and one of the few minor issues is that the front top grill has only one clip that's attached - the rest are broken, so one side of it i'm holding up with duct tape underneath. I would like to buy a replacement but i'm having trouble looking it up because "grille" doesn't seem to cut it. What is that part called? It is the metallic, thick, almost straight lined piece that is centered above the Mazda logo.

The bill is in about 5 parts and i can tape it back together, but I know that the serial numbers have to still be there. There's the serial number in the top left and the bottom right, and the bottom right is fine if I tape it together, but the top left serial number has a couple of numbers missing because its a small piece that I couldn't find on the carpet, my dog probably actually swallowed that one. The only part of the bill not legible is a small portion of the top left because I can't find it.

Will a bank still accept it if I cash it in, taped?

It is completely my brother's fault of their break up after over a year-long relationship, however the break up is not finalized, but her and I are talking right now and she plans on cutting it off. The details of why are not important. She lived with us for a while and we're 8 years apart but we've become absolutely great friends and true sisters. She said that if they break up she does not want to stop talking to me, and of course neither do I.

I take the 2 capsules every evening. I know they're causing the symptoms because there were several months where I was on a different set of vitamins and was having no reaction, but when those ran out I was stuck with these again for the time being. I take them at various times - before dinner, after dinner, etc, and no matter what I still feel the same very soon after taking them. When I started taking them last summer, along with some strange anxiety issues I was having, I actually purged at least once or twice a week for the 3 months - it was bad but I thought it was the anxiety stomach aches. I have no idea what I could be having a reaction to, but if any of you have an idea, thank you in advance.

I have Mac OS X 10.6.6 and I tried this thing where I can drag a widget from my dashboard onto my desktop and have it stay there, and it worked (I did it with the StickyNotes) but what happens is that it is always above everything I have open getting in my way. Instead, i'd like to have something of the sort (where I can write notes to myself) but fixed on my desktop. Does anyone know of such a thing?

I'm a junior in 3 AP classes, 3 advanced classes one of which is pre-calc because i'm ahead of my grade in math. I started having major procrastination problems recently, they have never been this horrible. I don't have any more distractions than I did last year. Last year was a substantially stressful year for me but I overcame it. I looked up that procrastination might be caused by an anxiety disorder and I have social anxiety disorder, or social phobia, but I cannot see the connection between social anxiety and doing my homework. I literally get under 5 hours of sleep every school night. I stayed home today to try to get some work done because this week is swamped with hours upon hours of homework, projects, and other responsibilities, but I seriously didn't get anything done since I woke up at 10:30am. I don't know what to do; I feel like it's physically impossible for me to get stuff done in a timely manner to leave myself with a good amount of sleep. What can I do? It's seriously started to affect my life dramatically; my grades are dropping because I do not get enough sleep and i'm starting to not even do some of my homework which I have never done.

I've had some of my questions be deleted before because i'm posting pictures of myself for completely elementary and innocent reasons, so don't report this to be a jerk because it's my own choice to post them or not. Thanks....

I can't believe i'm asking Yahoo!Answers about this but...

I don't actually like this kid but he's extremely cute and very mature for his age (17) plus he's definitely my type I just have never spent more than an hour alone with him and can't say I like him. Anyway, I mentioned we should hang out this weekend and I thought he'd assume with our other 2 good friends (as we do 100% of the time). However he asked who with and when I said it doesn't matter he kept making a big deal out of me choosing who we hang out with. He said it's totally fine with him if it's just us or the 4 of us. "Either way:)" So him and I are going to see a movie Saturday together. My best guy friend who's also his friend talked to him about it, but the kid ignored any questions my friend had about me (he didn't make it awkward or obvious). I don't know what to expect Saturday when he picks me up. Date or just friends hanging out.

He has never been like this. I got him a little more than a week ago. He sleeps in my room with the door closed so he doesn't run off and do something... bad. So just tonight for some reason he's almost literally bouncing off of my walls asking for me to open the door. I'm thinking he needs to go potty but we go outside and he doesn't. We come back in my room and he does the same thing again. I'm very curious as to why he wants me to open the door so I just do it and he runs to the kitchen and one of his toys are on the stool so I give it to him and we come back. Nope...still a maniac. I tried giving him a snack, water, anything. My brother came home and walked him for like a mile and he comes back still as hyper. I have no idea what to do. He's crazy whining and stuff. I don't know what he wants!

We adopted him so they're making us neuter him mandatory. I know that after puppies are neutered they become a bit less playful and they usually gain a lot of weight. Is there any way I can stop this from happening or help him not gain so much weight? We didn't neuter the last dog we had.

I just got a new puppy on the 19th. He's 12 weeks old and weighs 3 pounds approximately. Mostly when he's falling asleep, actually asleep, or just tired, he starts breathing in a way that sounds like panting but at the end he kind of "hawks" up something. Nothing actually comes out of his mouth but some snot came out of his nose once. Now, just now he's been sleeping and making extremely strange noises with his mouth while on his side. They seem like he's popping something inside with his tongue and his saliva. I'm probably over reacting. I had a dog who passed away in

December but i've never had a puppy since I was too young when my old dog was a puppy. This pup has had 2/3 of his puppy shots and we're going to the vet for his check up on the 28th.

Final week was last week and I was extremely stressed and suffered from "anxiety" stomach aches almost every day and one of the days, late at night, I had to purge. Finals ended last friday at 9am. I am still getting those same stomach aches but clearly not for a stressful reason. What mostly happens is that almost daily, sometime past the evening, I get that upper abdominal pain and in a few hours I have to purge. That happened several days ago again and AGAIN last night. Currently I have that pain and its 2:15am, I really hope I can go without barfing tonight.

My diet is not unhealthy at all, but its not vegetarian or crazy healthy either. Most of our products are organic and my mom makes balanced nutritional meals. Today for example I had scrambled eggs with toast, some leftover grilled chicken (only from the previous night), yogurt as a snack, cranberry juice if not water, and for dinner she made a sesame tofu stir fry with broccoli and soy beans, without the stir fry sauce (her own seasonings). What could possibly be wrong? :/

For instance, when you have accomplished something you do a little arm thing to yourself, fist clenched and arm extended and then you bend it in as in *yes*, *score*, etc. I have no idea how to actually call it, but mainly I want a picture of this happening.

Peeking over at my mom's QuickBooks today I saw the balances all of her clients had left. Majority were 0, but others were between 200-2,500 dollars. I asked why they haven't paid yet and she answered saying she's tried to make them, but she can't sue for only a couple thousand dollars because she'd end up spending more than that on lawyers and such. She said she even tried getting a collecting agency to collect the balances on her behalf. She is an interior designer in New Jersey (if that helps).

Is there a way she can get these people to pay up? For some it has been years. How can people live with it? It bothers me so much i'd be willing to go up to their house and yell at them. We could be in less debt if they pay up what they're legally supposed to.
