2 AnswersGambling6 years agoAre we funding our payroll account properly?
We are in the midst of an upgrade to our business's accounting system. Since we have a separate payroll account, we fund that weekly when we do payroll.
My bookkeeper asked me to show her how to transfer money from our payroll account to our general account.
I asked her why and she said that we transfer the employee health care contributions to the payroll account weekly and at the end of the month, we write a check to our general account to get the money back.
To me, it seemed like a waste of a check. Couldn't we just deduct it from the weekly deposit and not write the check. Then credit the Health Care account with the amount weekly? This way, we will have the money in the general account rather then sitting in the Payroll account.
My bookkeeper keeps saying she doesn't understand the question. I don't know it's that bad of a question and I think I'm being clear.
Thanks in advance!
2 AnswersOther - Business & Finance7 years agoQ-tips and Hard Candies for young kids?
I'm trying to pick my battles with my wife, but just not sure how to suggest things without her thinking I'm second guessing her.
The other day, she was cleaning our daughters ears with a Q-tip. She handed a Q-tip to out daughter and our daughter walked off. She saw the look on my face and asked if I was worried. I was, they have all sorts of warnings on Ear drum damage from Q-tips and our daughter is only 1.5 years old. Even poking herself in the eye was a concern. So my wife gave it to me for questioning her judgement and continues to hand her Q-tips.
The next day, we were in the car with the kids. My son (3.5) asked for some candy. My wife opened up a Werther's original hard candy and handed it to him. We're in the car, and I'm panicking. I told my wife that I thought it was a bad idea. She said something along the lines of let me do the parenting. Yes... I pick my battles, and I just don't know whether to let this go.
My mother and her friends never let us eat hard candies until we were much older. My mother was very paranoid and over protective, so I may have a warped perspective. Very frequently, I will see my wife doing things that consider dangerous, but maybe it's just my warped perspective. Then again, most of my knowledge comes from PSA's and such. She tends to disregard this stuff. I think I need a reality check.
What do you think? If you think it's an issue, then how to I bring it up with my wife without her feeling criticized?
6 AnswersParenting7 years agoIs Yahoo still working on fixing groups?
I'm an active member on a number of Yahoo groups, but the navigation is broken in a way that I cannot read all the messages in a thread. When I click the button to show the other 15 messages, only one or two will show up. There are a number of threads that I'd like to read, but they seem to be impossible to navigate to. Also, that center line blocks all the text on my mobile devices.
I figured this would've been fixed months ago, yet everyone is still having issues. Are they still working on the problems, or would Yahoo just prefer everyone go to Google Groups?
I'd rather keep all the data on Yahoo, but if they have no intention of fixing it they should let us know. That way we can all just go over to Google and watch Yahoo die a slow death. It's not so fun to watch the slow death from within.
1 AnswerYahoo Groups7 years agoDoes it cost more to insure child on parent's health care plan?
I own a small business and offer insurance coverage to all of our employees. I noticed that our plans are broken down in a few categories... Individual, Husband&Wife, Parent&Child, Family, Parent&Children.
So I know Obamacare required plans to cover children in school up to 26. But then I see that my health insurer IS charging me more to insure my children. I though that was changing. Is it really changing, or did I misunderstand?
It looks like I get charged an extra $300 for my children.

I have a 2002 Trek 5200 OCLV roadbike. I forget the size.

If it's on the frame, I cannot find it.

4 AnswersCell Phones & Plans8 years agoCan any physical object be infinite?
I know a number system can be infinite, but that isn't a physical object. Some wrongly say the universe is infinite.
Wouldn't an infinite physical object be impossible? A true infinite object seems like it would violate a few of the laws of physics.
2 AnswersPhysics8 years agoBrother in law living with us? Appropriate?
My wife's brother is having marital difficulties. For the second time in a year, he has moved in with us. The first time, I said it was OK but they reconciled shortly thereafter and he moved out. I was reluctant to have him come back and I initially told her not to offer. Well, she asked me when I was half asleep, and for some reason I agreed. At the time, I figured it was easier to say yes then to wake up or argue. That was my mistake.
He isn't a bad guy, he cleans up around the house and my wife claims she likes having him around because he helps out. He does have a dog that is also living with us, but we also have dogs.
I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old. The 3 year old should be moving out of his crib, but my brother in law is living in his room. My 1 year old, should be moving into her brothers old room, but until my brother in law moves out, there is no place for them to go. My 1 year old is currently living in our closet.
He has been with us for about a month and a half. When he first moved in, I asked my wife to get a timeline. She couldn't because he has to save money to be able to move out. He need to do two things to move out. First, get a car and second an apartment. Unfortunately he went to get a car and he couldn't with his credit. He is also waiting for a promotion from his work, the post office. But until he gets that, which may or may not happen, he is only part time.
He's polite and helps around the house, and like I said earlier, my wife likes having him around. Personally, though, I don't like having anyone living in my house. I'm not going to say it stresses me out, but it does limit my ability to decompress after work. I really like my alone time. Maybe I'm the crazy one, but having him around changes my routines and does add to my stress.
So I am regularly asking my wife about time-frames, or any progress, but nothing seems to be happening. She thinks I'm wrong for wanting to push him out. I'm not trying to push him out, but I don't want him living with us indefinitely. She doesn't understand my concern.
Is it appropriate for me to start applying more pressure on her? I know I'm odd in that I like alone time, but is that a reason to want him out?
3 AnswersFamily8 years agoWhy don't Christians celebrate the Sabbath?
Jesus celebrated the sabbath on Saturday as did the apostles after his death. I know that Constantine changed the Sabbath to Sunday, and Christmas to December; but it is the 4th commandment. If the 10 commandments were directly from God, then it's pretty clear. Christians are sinning by not celebrating the sabbath, no?
I've heard the argument that they didn't know the days of the week back then, but that's clearly not true. Jesus knew what day the Sabbath was and it's widely claimed that Jesus died on Sunday.
22 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoCan you use 12-2 interior cable for DC?
I have a bunch of leftover 12-2 interior cable. I need to wire a couple of cigarette lighter outlets about 10' away from my battery. I was planning on using the interior cable to make the run (through the wall)and terminating it with Anderson power poles on both ends.
I'm planning on ignoring the ground wire and just wiring the black and white wires as required.
Any reason this won't work or I should be doing it differently?
2 AnswersEngineering8 years agoWhy all the Treyvon/Zimmerman posts in politics?
I know there is some trolling going on, but why are all of the posts going into politics? What does the trial have to do with politics besides the fact that each political orientation tends to favor their own idea? This would be like putting religion questions in politics instead of religion. Or like putting evolution questions in politics rather then sciences.
Don't Zimmerman/ Treyvon questions belong in Law and Ethics?
Why would someone put them in politics?
12 AnswersPolitics8 years ago20 amp breaker... Rewire light fixture?
I have an older(maybe 70's)swing arm light fixture that has 16 AWG wire. It is a swing arm lamp.
I'm hooking it up to a 20amp breaker and of course 12-2 cable. The wire in the lamp is about 2' long. Would I need to rewire this to put it on my 20 amp breaker? It would be very difficult to rewire as I don't think 12 gauge would fit and allow the arm on the lamp to swing.
Do I need a new fixture? or Can it be run as is?
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs8 years agoHow much water for Quickcrete for hydration?
I had to mix up a bunch of concrete yesterday. I was planning on using a hammer drill and paddle bit, but my new Harbor Freight hammer drill burned out in a few seconds. It was cheaper then the SDS chuck adapter I was planning on buying so I'm not disappointed.
But, because of this, I had to mix the first batch by hand with a small shovel in the bucket. I followed the Quickcrete instructions. 3qts per 80LB bag. Then I slowly added water until I got a workable mix (approx 2qts of water). It held itself together, but was on the dry side.
I didn't realize until my next batch that it could have taken another two quarts of water.
This particular batch is at the bottom of a non-structural 5' column formed in a sonotube.
My questions are did I add enough water to cause hydration and start the curing? Would a wet cure or spraying it help if I didn't? I was a bit confused because the mix required almost double the water Quickcrete stated I should need. I'm hoping the 3qts is the amount required for hydration, and everything after that is for workability.
3 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)8 years agoDo you cut metal roofing vertically?
I'm about to order metal roofing for my shed. The pieces come in 36" lengths. My roof has a 130" ridge. It would require 3 1/2 36" wide pieces to cover the whole length of the shed.
Does one typically cut or rip the metal sheet? Or is there another way to treat it? I know how to cut them, but it seems like it could be an ugly edge.

3 AnswersSoftware8 years agoMoved domain via Zonefile but E-mail broke?
I have a domain registered through Network Solutions. Previously it was pointing to my sever which was hosted through Verio. Verio was my webserver and E-mail host. I wanted to continue using Verio as my E-mail host, but use Godaddy as my webhost. I wanted to do it this way to ensure no downtime.
So I went to the Zonefile for my domain at Verio(using Verio's CP) and forwarded only the A-records for the website(www.myweb.com & myweb.com). I waited for it to populate and sure enough it broke the E-Mail anyways. I thought I understood the A-records well, but cannot figure out why thew E-mail broke.
Network solutions is my registrar, Verio is my E-mail host and Godaddy has the Website. The only thing I can think of is maybe I need to change the zonefile with a different host. I changed it with Verio, and that's what broke the E-mail.
Any help would be appreciated.
2 AnswersComputer Networking8 years agoHow do I get my wife to answer phone?
I asked a similar question a few months ago. The collective wisdom advised me to ignore it, and I did. But now, the fact that she is missing calls is creating stress for her and me.
My wife never answers her phone. The reasons she has given are no pockets, or she doesn't hear it(she keeps it on vibrate). I told her to turn the ringer on, but she's afraid it will wake up our kids. I leave my ringer on, and use my alarm every morning and it's never woken up the kids. If she kept it on her, she would probably feel it vibrate, but she doesn't.
OK. So the problems it's causing. We'll have plans with friends, she'll miss the call. Most of our friends know to call me, but not all. Twice in two weeks, a missed call resulted in friends being upset with us.
Also, she's been seeing a Dr. Because they cannot get a hold of her, they call me. I cannot answer any of their questions, but I also cannot reach her nor can they. A couple of weeks ago, she missed a call from a Dr. The call was regarding test results that she was anxious to get. She missed the call and had to wait until the next week. Needless to say, she was extremely stressed out that weekend and deserved every second of it. But she didn't learn from that.
We have kids, and I frequently need to communicate things to her, but cannot. Also, her family now calls me knowing she won't answer her phone.
She always says that if the kids are with her, it cannot be that important. But, she also doesn't answer her phone when I'm watching the kids. She says it's never an emergency, but any call could be an emergency.
So obviously, whenever I bring it up, she gets defensive. I don't quite understand it because it's just answering a phone. I'm on call 24/7. How do I convince her that it's important.
