What program would or could I use to synchronize two videos into one split screen video?
I filmed a recent pistol shoot I was at. Using a non-high def video camera (640 by 480 or something like that)I filmed the shooters as they shot, then using an I phone I recorded downrange the targets being shot in 720. I thought it would be a blast to make a high def split screen video showing the shooter on one half of the screen and the targets being hit on the other. What I don't know is what program I could use to synchronize these two different formats (and probably framerates) so I have one split screened shot. Bare in mind this is for home use and I am not looking for any profesional level $700 for a license programs. Nor am I a colledge student that has acces to 12 billion adobe programs. For all I know there may not be any consumer level products that can hep me. Thanks ahead of time. Oh btw my operating system is windows 7.
1 AnswerCamcorders1 decade agohow to use a multimeter to find positive or negative?
I'm not completely electrically illiterate but I have never gotten the hang of using a multimeter. Last year a halloween prop was broken. The head (which contains two dc servos; one for the eyes and one for the mouth) became disconnected from the body. The problem is that the wires disconnected from their weak point which is where they had been joined to the wires in the body which are color coded differently (this is a purchased prop, not one I made, and getting info from the manufacturer has been next to useless). The two pair of wires in the head are obvious (two complete sets each containing a black lead) but where they connect its just four random seperate colors: purple, red, green and white. I imagine there is some way for me to figure out with a multimeter which of the two leads are positive and which are negative, as well as which positive goes to which negative. Any help would be apreciated.
2 AnswersEngineering1 decade agoCan the contacts of a "DC" specified relay handle "115ac"?
I'm looking for a mechanical relay with a 12vdc coil. Many of the cheaper ones out there are automotive. A couple list their contacts at 40amps at 14vdc or 20 amps at 14vdc. Couldn't I still run 115ac through the contacts? Most of the relays I have now I run both ac and dc through (the contacts not the coil). I know I wouldn't get the full amps listed at 14vdc but sheesh I only need less than one amp. Thanks
4 AnswersEngineering1 decade agoWhich Lead on a wall wart is positive/negative?
On most U.S. Wall warts (wall plug transformers) there is one wire on the DC side that is either striped or ribbed and the other wire is smooth. Which wire is the positive or hot lead, the ribbed/striped or the smooth. Also if you happen to know, is there any reason that I can't wire the outputs of two wall warts in parrellel as to supply a greater amperage without increasing the voltage to my end product? Thank you for your time.
3 AnswersOther - Electronics1 decade agoCan you use gas propane on a pnuematic valve?
Ok, ok now before anyone mentions correct specifications and osha regulations, I should state that this is not some proper comercial or residential application. I run a fairly advanced haunted house for fun every year that involves some pnuematics and animatronics. This year I wanted to play with a fire effect. (Just trust that the fire will be applied in a safe and apropriate manner or don't bother answering.) I have a ton of traditional pnuematic solenoid valves, and I also have a good ignition system. What I don't know is if there are any short term negative effects of running gas propane (not liquid) through say a Mac model 35a valve or any air valve for that matter. The valve companies aren't much help when I call as anything I use them for is genrally not part of their "intended aplication" and lawsuit fear abounds. So any thoughts guys?
1 AnswerEngineering1 decade agoWhere is the nearest public land for shooting to east Contra Costa County Ca. ?
Ok, I know that (with certain exception) that I can shoot on all BLM land, as well as in any national forest. I'm not so sure with national parks or state parks. However the nearest national forest to me is Stanislaus, and I'm having a hard time making heads or tails of where BLM land actually is. I live in the town of Brentwood, in contra costa county and would just like to find the closest public land (that is accessible by road). If you don't know of any, but know where I could find out that would be appreciated as well. (the BLM website didn't seem to be too helpful with specifics).
1 AnswerHunting1 decade agoHow do you clear rocks in preperation of Sod?
Ok this may be a no brainer but here's the thing. I'm getting ready to lay sod in my yard. I would like to do it myself. This is a new home with a completely barren dirt backyard. Everything I read talks about soil preperation before laying sod. I have it all graded and leeled correctly however, there is mention of removing rocks. I don't have any giant boulders but the soil is simply littered with small stones. Picking them out of the entire yard by hand seems overwhelming. Is there a simler way to remove stones from the soil?
3 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agoShould I buy a House with my company rather than my own name?
I own a business. A general partnership, to be exact. The partners are all close friends/family. I'm getting ready to purchase a property as an investment (and a source of income as a rental). I plan to pay cash. Would I be better off purchasing it under my name, or under the partnerships. I live in California. And when I say better off, I mean in general regarding tax purposes and ease of transfers. I hear a lot of things about Limited Liability company's or land trusts as a way to protect property from excessive taxes on transfers and such. Since I allready am in a partnership (though our business is generally not real estate) I wondered if it would be good to handle the rental under it. Also IF I should happen to die, I would like the property to be easily transfered to one of my partners. Thanks for any help you might give.
2 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoWhere would or could I buy Gold in the U.S.?
I'm curious where I would go about purchasing gold? Not gold coins, but the gold that a jewler or minter would purchase to make coins, or necklaces or such.
2 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoWhat are some good "twisted" Disney songs; like "Tragic Kingdom" and "Madman in Disneyland"?
I'm building a Disney themed Haunted House for Halloween and for the soundtrack of the que I'm looking for good twisted songs that parody either disney songs or ideas, or themes. For example I allready know about "Tragic Kingdom" by No Doubt and "Madman in Disneyland" by Ugly Kid Joe. What other songs are out there that are similiar to those two or mention disney or disneyland in some way? Thanks
1 AnswerOther - Music1 decade agoWhere do I find the engine number '71 Challenger?
I have a 1971 Dodge Challenger 440. I'm pretty sure the engine is not the original for the car and wondered where on the block (or which component) is the number to identify the engine. (not the engine number on the fender tag etc)
3 AnswersDodge1 decade agoWhat happened to the Cirque du Soleil "KA" crabs/ pillar jumping?
I saw "KA" at the MGM Grand a few weeks back in Vegas. It was a Tuesday night. We bought the "making of" DVD to learn more about the engineering of the stage (a fluff filled dvd incidently). HOwever, in the DVD we saw that during the sand scene (with the starfish etc.) there were two acrobats dressed as crabs. Also the DVD showed a scene with pillars in the void (similiar to the ones eddie murphy crossed in the film "golden child") with cast members jumping and fighting from pillar to pillar (not to be confused with the pillars that men swing to and from in the jungle/ forest scene). The thing is at our show we didn't have any crabs or the entrie pillar scene. Is this something they have taken out and why? or where the crabs maybee just sick that night? and what happened to the pillar sequence? It looked fabulous on the DVD. Was someone hurt, or was it a pre-production idea that made the DVD but didn't make the actual show? Thanks...oh and still an amazing show.
1 AnswerOther - Entertainment1 decade agoIs it true that photos can be taken of your license plate and used as reason to pull you over at another time?
I know many people will automatically say yes to this but I'm wondering does anyone have any hard facts or backup to wether this is true or just an urban myth? I have heard in various cases of contraband; examples: your town doesn't allow alchohol on sundays but theres a twenty four hour liquor store right out of town; or your state doesn't allow fireworks but there is a large fireworks store near the border; or your sate doesn't allow certain firearms, etc that police will set up sting operations whereby they photograph your car in the parking lot of said business legally purchasing your "soon-to-be" contraband and then send your information ahead to officers waiting to nab you at the city/county/state line after you have crossed of course and your legal item becomes an illegal item. It seems improbable to me? How would the officers store all this information, is there just a database loaded with license numbers saying "pull this guy over he might have metal numchucks" ?
Law Enforcement & Police1 decade agoIs refusing to answer a question probable cause for a vehicle search?
If I am knowingly transporting illegal material (and for the sake of argument and moral dillemas) lets assume it's not a dead body, kidnap victim, heroine etc. And I am pulled over. Lets assume this area has many such individuals as me carrying this particular contraband, and the officer asks are you carrying any.....blank or having any blank in the vehicle. Now, If I don't want to lie to the officer (for fear of getting in even greater trouble than having my goods confiscated) and tell him that I'm not going to answer that question....I imagine that it would make me look very suspicious. Does that on a legal level (or for that matter a practical level) give the officer grounds to search my vehicle without my consent? Is there any protection against the search?
17 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoApplication for probation officer--turthfully answer questionare yes/no?
I have a friend applying to work in probation in San Bernidino county, california. The application packet they give is huge and includes an extensive questionare regarding both drug use and previous employment. My buddy experimented with drugs in high school and was asked to quit a job when he was 19. (he quit, and was not fired). Now his girlfriend says be bruttally honest to the questionare and explain that he has reformed (he's 32 now). I say lie your butt off, don't list the job he was asked to leave from on the employment list, and answer no to any drug related question. Now bearing in mind that he's been clean for a decade and has had stable complaint free employment for the same period of time, without delving too far into the morality of lying on the application, for practicality which would be the better option? i.e. how deep do they really dig into these questions, and if you were honest, realisticaly, would it be an automatic rejection, even though they say it wont?
