How do you clear rocks in preperation of Sod?
Ok this may be a no brainer but here's the thing. I'm getting ready to lay sod in my yard. I would like to do it myself. This is a new home with a completely barren dirt backyard. Everything I read talks about soil preperation before laying sod. I have it all graded and leeled correctly however, there is mention of removing rocks. I don't have any giant boulders but the soil is simply littered with small stones. Picking them out of the entire yard by hand seems overwhelming. Is there a simler way to remove stones from the soil?

The only thing i can think of is to use a hard rake and rake the dirt with it to try to collect at least half of it,when you do it keep the rake position more up towards the sky so the back of the rake kinda collects it.Or you can try to make a sifter out of screen make a square out of wood like a picture frame and then cover bottom with screen and wrap up side then staple or nail it,Make sure the screen holes aren't to small though so dirt will pass through easier but keep rocks in you sifter.Take 2 shovel fulls of dirt in sifter and shake into wheel barrel to collect then re-spread or just work your way across your yard, shake then move up a spot and dump stone in wheel barrel or bucket....Hope i helped you or a least gave you a good idea

You can use a rake to move the stones closer together, but you still have to pick them up. Or get some local kids and pay them a penny for each rock they collect.
