Did Contractor Correctly Lay Wood Floor?
We had a leak which caused the floor to buckle in one of our rented properties. We think it must have started 3/4 months prior to it being reported to us by the tenant. We had a plumber in who fixed the leak which was coming from the toilet. 5 months later we had another contractor lay the wood floor which costs thousands. The floor started to buckle after a couple of months. The contractor who laid the floor said the leak mustn't have been fixed and the plumber says it has. We have had a few plumbers in and there doesn't seem to be any leaks and they weren't able to find anything. The contractor reckons it is the shower screen that is allowing the water to escape because when you hold the hose against it a stream of water comes out and disappears into under the tiles. My argument is though that when the shower is on no water comes out so I don't think it is that. We took up the wood today and we think that the contractor didn't take up the chipboard and has laid a thin board of hardwood on top of it and then laid the wood floor on top of that.
Is this the right way to lay wood flooring? Would the chipboard have dried after 5 months of the leak being fixed also considering it was under the wood and no dehumidifiers were used. I feel the contractor should have taken out the chipboard which would have blown anyways. Also if it was still retaining water would it be enough for the floor to start buckling again.

3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoTrying to find a song! Please help?
I have been trying to find out the name of a song. It's really new but being played on the radio quite a bit. It's a woman singing a ballady type song but it's a dance tune, it might possibly be a dance cover of an old song. Kinda sounds like a remake of an 80's ballad. The lyrics kinda go, I never knew love until I met you..... Well something along those lines. I have been looking on radio 1's play list but no luck!

I have been given the length. Is there a formula to this? Also, considering I have a full test to complete, any suggestions of books or websites that could help me out with questions of this nature would be much appreciated.

3 AnswersSculpture1 decade agoI want to know more about dream boxes and the likes?
I have been looking into buying one of these dream boxes but don't know much about them. When I do have a look there is a lot of technical jargon that I don't understand.
I want to know do they come with all the pay per channels or is it something I need to set up and what accessories does it need, like aerials and anything else? They also seem to be a few different types. do the cheaper ones do and what do the more expensive ones do in simple terms and leaving out the really technical stuff. Also is there any alternatives to the dream box?
Thanks

I am ding a project based on a greenhouse in a cold climate. I want to use some sort of thermal blinds for the windows which are curved. The will be used at night and winter to keep in the heat but also to control the sun during the summer so as not to overheat the greenhouse.
I know they will be like the pull up blinds you get(not the roller blinds)the difference being they will be attached to curved windows(domed shaped) I have that worked out but what materials would they be made from is where I'm stuck?
Any Ideas Please.
cheersxxx

Where is a decent area and not too expensive to live in and how much rent per month. I am getting a little anxious about it when ive been looking. I would prefer to live in a one bed flat, nothing to fancy but Id rather not be sleeping next to my toilet bowl.

Can I get some honest advice because its stressing me out!!

2 AnswersOther - United Kingdom1 decade agoMaking books into films..... your suggestions!?
I was thinking about books that would be great as films. The book of lost things would be a magical and dark one that would be great if done right and the Robert Jordan Series, The Wheel of Time but I d think they should be made into a Series rather than a film because it just wouldn't do them justice to be made into a long film for each book.
What do you think?

2 AnswersInvesting1 decade agoPlease Help! Getting a deposit back from a property investment in florida?
In September last year, my partner and I went to Florida to look at property to invest in. We went with a international realty company who set us up to meet developers, mortgage advisor and a management company. The plan was to rent it out as soon as possible and in later years to sell.
We found the perfect property and signed a contract with the developer who was aware we were applying for a mortgage in america and said if there was any problem with this we could pull out.
We came up with the 30% (as this was needed to apply for the mortgage) straight away. But as the months went on, we were applying to so may different mortgage schemes with no luck. It was dragging out to long and we were already paying a mortgage on the 30% we decided we had to pull out and get our money back. We have contacted the realty company and the developers but they are very unhelpful, it seems we can only contact them through emails and they haven't given us any idea if and when we will get our money back. it has been dragging out for such a long time we are begiining to worry.
So if anyone has any advice on what we should do? We are beside ourselves with worry as the developer has been no help what so ever.
Thank you for reading.

1 AnswerRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoI Need To Write a Paper on A Urban Planning Scheme.....?
I need to write a paper about an Urban planning scheme, preferably in London so I can visit it and get information on it. Any suggestions would be great for the following....
1 Pick an urban planning scheme and research and analyse it in depth. You can select a visionary scheme which was never built or a scheme which was built. It would be easier for you if it were somewhere you could visit. Your discussion in the essay should provide information both about the plan and the context within which it was conceived. What were its primary aims and concerns, and how were these translated into the plan/built project? What were its strengths, possible weaknesses? Your analysis should demonstrate an awareness of the key ideas and debates over the city.
