I am a Socialist Atheist. I talk to some of my friends about problems i have with things in America today, talk about socialism and the like. So why is it that so many people tell me that if I want socialism, that i should leave the country and that I am Un-American? Is it not the duty of a good American to try to change things in the country that they feel are wrong?

Why do people say that America was founded on "Christian Values" and as a "Christian Country"? Not only was it put into our constitution that the government would stay separate from religion, but also a majority of the founding fathers weren't Christian. Most of them were Deist, and some even rejected the idea of a god. So what does our country have to do with Christian Values?

I have seen/heard person after person say that if we have a Universal Health Care System, it will end up like the DMV (Which is the Secretary of State office for those of you in Michigan). But can anyone tell me why you think it will be like this? Why would the government making sure that everyone could get health care make hospitals like the DMV?

Ok, while I do enjoy the freedoms granted to me in the Constitution, why do we base our government on something that is over 200 years old? The world is a very different place today than it was in 1787, so shouldn't our government allow change to these things instead of trying to uphold an old idea of perfection?

I have seen a few pictures of what people think God (esp. the Christian God) looks like, and I was just wondering, why does he always looks like Zeus? Were Christians too lazy to think up their own idea of what he looks like? Or do they really think that he looks like Zeus?

I have looked at Y!A's questions about communism, and have come to one conclusion: Very few people on here know what communism really is. Communism (for starters) is not a government practice, like democracy or monarchy, it is an economic ideal, and the exact opposite of fascism. It says that everyone is equal, regardless of race, religion, language or sexual orientation. It says that the workers will be fed up with their employers and will revolt, taking control of the business. The government in response to this, seizes up all properties and controls industry and business. The government makes people share their positions with everyone, making people such as Wall Street CEO's equal to people who used to be beggars. They give people health care, a job, a house and anything else that people may need.

So tell me, why should we hate this? We claim to be a capitalist country, but to the exact definition, capitalism means no government intervention, so how can we be capitalist with things such as minimum wage, social security, the Sherman Anti-Trust Act and the current bailouts for Wall Street and (maybe) the Big 3 Auto Makers? Does this not break a capitalist ideology? They say that the reason people shouldn't be communist is because it always fails, but have you ever noticed that every nation that became communist, we started a trade embargo and caused the rest of the world to do the same. So how could any country do well when the United States makes almost every country stop buying their products?

People also say that "In a communist country, people don't have rights! We wouldn't have freedom of speech, miranda rights and other rights that we hold dear". But if communism only deals with the economy, how could it possibly do this? I think that the only reason that people fear communism, the only reason that we got involved in Korea and Vietnam and the only reason we hate it today is that we were afriad that our economic ideology would not be seen as the best throughout the world.

I would like to hear your thoughts on this subject, what do you think about communism now that I have throughly explained it?

If God was real, what would he have done before he created everything? Would he have had a whole different universe? Would he have just sat around doing nothing? What do you think?
