  • Finish strong, or check out?

So, I put in my two week notice last monday of my resignation. I am moved jobs to a new organization. I'm, as of today, a software developer for a Fourtune 500 company, moving to another Fortune 500 company.

I have 2 and a half days left of work here... and I do have some work in front of me that I "could" be doing.... but I'm finding it hard to get motivated to do it.

Would you put the axe to the wheel and give it your all your last few days.... or just check out, sit back and browse the Internet for the rest of your stay?

  • Why do women say they can do anything a man can do?

Yet, when a man goes to do something that a woman typically does, they roll their eyes and laugh?

For example, my wife left this morning for business travel leaving me to care for our 2 year old son. I have no problems or concerns with how to raise my own child... yet for some reason, I awoke to find a weeks worth of clothes already laid out for him with instructions. Granted, I'm not the one that normally dresses him in the morning, but why does she think I can't figure it out.

If she were to say that she was going to mow the lawn, and I got the lawnmower out, the gas out, and instructions on how to start it and what pattern to mow the grass in, she'd be livid.....

    What gives?

More so than a concept driven by intellectual thought and logic?

  • Do stupid questions (like this one) deserve stupid answers?

I know, everyone was told by their kindergarten teachers that "there's no such thing as a stupid question"... well, lets face it. Our kindergarten teachers lied.

So, if challenged with a stupid question, do you find it acceptable to respond with a stupid answer?

  • Would this be a good idea?

I think Yahoo should rig something up where if you ask a question that has the phrases "I had sex" and "could I be pregnant" any where in the question or description, that 10,000 volts of electricity are instantly sent through the Internet and into that person keyboard.

    Any thoughts?

Last night my wife caught me measuring my penis. It reaches just to the back of her sister's throat.

  • Why do fat people say they are proud to be fat?

I don't get it... what is there to be proud about? The fact that they are going to die sooner than everyone else? Did they do something that they are proud about to become fat? The only way I know how to get fat is to eat a lot and not exercise, why is that something to be proud about?

  • What is the ethical logic behind homosexuality and incest?

Why is homosexuality ethically fine, but incest is not? If the whole argument behind homosexuality is that two consenting adults should be able love and be intimate with anyone they choose, then why does that "anyone" exclude close family members? If sex is simply a physical exchange of emotion and love, then why would that same act be so wrong between an adult brother and sister or father and and adult daughter?

  • How do you prefer those younger than you to refer to you as, "First name", or "Mr / Mrs / Miss"?

For example, if your name is John Smith. Do you prefer those younger than you to refer to you as "John" or "Mr. Smith"

If you wouldn't mind, please also state your age.

  • Question for smokers?

Would you have a problem if, when going into or out of every building, there were like 3 or 4 people standing outside the door masturbating? Would you find that rude, offensive, and disgusting? Would you complain about it, or just respect the fact that they have a habit they need to attend to?

  • Copyrighting public information?

What are the laws on copyrighting public information? The example I am referreing to is as follows. Someone has taken upon themselves the task of going through the documents stored by a villages Historical Association. The Association has a large collection of stories from residence of the past. This person took those stories, that are all publicly accacessable, and compiled them into a book and published it.

Now, am I permitted to take stories from that book and publish them myself? All I would have to do is go to the Historical Association and I would have access to the same documentation she had.

  • Smokers, why do you bother to put deoderant on?

Or even bother showering? You obvioulsy don't care about having an offensive smell or even worry about your health. You don't really think the deoderant and showering covers up the stink do you?

  • Parents of 1 - 2 year olds, new car seat recomendations?

Aparently there are new car seat recomendations out that say you should keep your child rear-facing in the car seats until at least 2 years of age now. Our son go flopped to front facing as soon as he turned one. Now, he's 21 months old and my wife is freaking out that we need to turn him back around for 3 more months.

If you have a 1 -2 year old, are you going to be turning him back to rear facing?

  • What do my dreams mean, missing class?

I frequently have dreams where I'm always missing classes. I'll have dreams where I'll look at my watch and see that I missed a college class, or that I'll be sitting in class and I'll go turn in an assignement and the professor tells me that was due last week, or that I'll get my semester grades and see that I got an F in a class that I completely forgot I had registered for and never went to.

The ironic part is with these dreams is that I graduated college almost 10 years ago.

  • Teenagers, Is a 20 year old dating a 15 year old bad?

Okay, this seems to come up somewhat frequently and the common answer I see goes something to the extent of, "Its just an age, 5 years difference is no big deal. Does it matter if it was 55 and 50"

Personally, I don't understand this logic and I was hoping some of you teenagers could better explain it to me.

If you are going to use the 50 and 55 logic, isn't it also fair to also apply it to the 15 and 10 logic?

If you think that age is only a number and a 5 year difference is no big deal, then could you explain to me how a 15 year old dating a 10 year old would also be acceptable?

It is my reasoning that the age isn't important, but what is important is the ratio in age difference. A 50 year old with a 55 year old is only a difference of 10%, where as a a 15 year old and a 20 year old the difference is 33%. I would have to say that someone having a 33% difference in the amount of gained life experience is quite significant. To relate that back to the 50 year old, that would be equivalent to a 55 year old dating someone who is 73 years old. I would certainly say that is something to at least scratch your head at, no?

  • What is the most recognizable pop culture song of all time?

The question is what is the most recognized song, not necessarily the "best". In other words, what song, if played to any given person, would most likely be recognzied. Keep the answers to pop culture songs, avoiding things like "Happy Birthday" and "Mary Had a Little Lamb"
