Lasting effects from bad edible experience?
Long story short, I was at a friends house three nights ago and he offered me an edible. I told him I had only had edibles once before and I was a lightweight. He assured me it was very light and I would barely feel it. I have known the guy for a while, and trust him, so I ate it. It ended up messing me up pretty bad. I got very paranoid and even ran out of his house and called someone to pick me up. Three days later, I feel mostly better, but have a little lingering depression and anxiety.
Is it normal to have these kind of lasting effects? If so, when can I expect to feel completely back to myself?
1 AnswerOther - Health9 years agoHow do you say "We are all one" in Japanese?
Genki Sudo, a former professional fighter, used to hold up a banner of all the world's flags with the words "We are all one" written in English, after his victories.
I was wondering if this phrase translates well into Japanese, and if so what it would be. I speak Japanese at an intermediate level, but not well enough to know if my translation sounds natural.
Thanks.

I am trying to think of some slang words that have been inspired by movies. Maybe a new word or phrase that a character used that was so catchy that it made its way into popular culture.

3 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoWhy can't I visit certain website (ebay, facebook, etc.) while on a public network?
We are between internet providers and using our apartment building's lobby wireless internet. But we are unable to go to a number of websites...it just consistently times out or displays strange looking versions of the website.
I am sure the apartment building isn't blocking any websites...is it possible our laptop settings are keeping us from going to certain sites because the network is unsecured? If so, can I override this?
FYI, I already tried temporarily turning off my firewall...no change.
Thanks.
3 AnswersComputer Networking1 decade agoWhich venue is better for watching the Portland Winterhawks?
I haven't been to game in years. Should I see a game at the Rose Garden or the Memorial Coliseum? Obviously the Rose Garden is newer and nicer, but I have found that at least for basketball games, the views are great from anywhere in the Memorial Coliseum. The Rose Garden, on the other hand, has some true nosebleed seats.
Thanks.
3 AnswersPortland1 decade agoTips for opening a stuck film door on a Pentax K1000?
I've got a K1000 with a jammed film door. When I pull up on the release, I hear a small popping sound, but it won't open. Anything I can do to open it without damaging the camera?
Thank you.
1 AnswerPhotography1 decade agoBest mechanical SLRs?
I have recently been enjoying using a couple of old Minolta mechanical cameras that I picked up (SRT-201 and SRT-202), and was hoping for recommendations of other mechanical SLRs.
To clarify, I don't mind if there is a battery needed for the light metering system, but the rest of the camera should be mechanical.
I know the Pentax K1000 is popular, as well as the Nikon F2 and FM2. Does anyone use anything else by these brands? Are there any mechanical cameras that are particularly noteworthy from Mamiya, Yashica, Olympus, etc?
Thank you.
4 AnswersCameras1 decade agoWhich of these is the best 28mm lense for Minolta manual SLR?
I am looking at a few 28mm for my X-700 and have a few options in my price range (which is low at the moment). I am leaning towards one of the Vivitar lenses, because I have used a Vivitar lense before and found it to be pretty good.
JC Penney 28mm f2.8 MD
Osawa 28mm f2.8 MD
Vivitar 28mm f2.8 MD
Vivitar 28mm f2.5 SR

1 AnswerPhotography1 decade agoAnyone familiar with Nitakon lenses?
While looking for lenses for my Minolta X-700, I recently stumbled upon a 24mm lens with a Minolta fit by a company named Nitakon. I have never heard of them, and a google search gave me absolutely nothing, so I assuming that quality can't be that great. However, I am wondering if anyone is familiar with this brand and could supply any information. For a 24mm, it was quite reasonably priced and I might take the risk if someone can tell me it is even half decent.
Thanks.

I just picked up this Vivitar Lense at a thrift shop and am hoping to find out a little bit about it. The specs are: 58mm 70-200mm 1:3.8

4 AnswersPhotography1 decade agoRoad Trip Essentials?
I am going on a roadtrip in June. It will be a three state (primarily California), 8 - 9 day trip. What are the road trip essentials that I should bring?
Is there anything you have been really glad you have brought on a past trip, or that you really wished you hadn't forgotten?
Thanks for the input,

5 AnswersOther - Destinations1 decade agoAre there redwoods near I-5 in northern California?
I am taking a road trip from Portland, OR to LA this June, and was hoping to see some Redwoods, or possibly even get to drive through one of them. However, I need to go the I-5 route to save time, and won't be able to make a side trip over to the 101 route.
Are there any redwoods nearby I-5, maybe somewhere near the Redding area?
3 AnswersSan Francisco1 decade agoGood road trip stop in Northern California?
I am planning a road trip with my fiancee from Portland, OR to LA at the beginning of this summer. I want to make one stop overnight on the way down, just to break up the trip a little bit.
I was thinking Redding might be a good place to stop. I am a slight interest in architecture and other interesting man-made structures, so I thought it might be cool to check out Turtle Bay and the Sundial bridge. But I don't really know much about Redding besides that (other than it having the northernmost In and Out burger).
Is Redding a good choice? If so, any hotel or sightseeing/activity recommendations?
Other suggestions of places to consider?
Thanks everyone,
Brent
5 AnswersLos Angeles1 decade agoCancun to Chichen Itza by rental car?
My fiance and I are going to Cancun this summer, and we would like to see Chichen Itza while we are there. Instead of taking a tour, we are thinking about just renting a car and doing the driving ourselves.
We would prefer to be on our schedule and go to places of our choosing. It also seems like it will be much cheaper that way.
Has anyone done this?
Thanks,
Brent
9 AnswersCancun1 decade agoSan Jose Del Cabo vs. Cabo San Lucas?
I have been to Cabo San Lucas three times, and loved it. I have stayed at Hotel Solmar, Pueblo Bonito, and Villa Del Palmar. I thought the locations were great and loved that it was a short walk into town (Cabo San Lucas).
I am hoping to take my fiance to Mexico this summer (she has never been), and was wanting to go back to Cabo again. However, our finances are a bit tight and the San Jose Del Cabo area a bit north seems to be cheaper. I am not at all familiar with this area and would love any info about the pros and cons of staying here vs. where I have stayed in the past.
Thank you in advance.
6 AnswersCabo San Lucas1 decade agoTwo grammar questions?
First, is the following sentence grammatically correct?
"The decision affected the amount of money spent greatly."
Second, what is the category/function of the word "spent" in this sentence?
My instincts tell me that the sentence is not quite grammatically correct, but I am having trouble figuring out why I feel that way.
Thank you.
6 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoAttractions remaining after the Vancouver Olympics?
My fiance and I are visiting Vancouver next month. Though the Olympics will have finished by then, I am wondering if there will be any attractions remaining from the games that will be worth going to see (in addition to everything else Vancouver has to offer).
Thank you in advance for any information on the subject.

2 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoJapanese women's jewelry (necklace) preferences?
I am trying to figure out what sort of accessory to buy for my fiance (who is Japanese) for Christmas. She doesn't wear earrings, so I am going to get her a necklace of some sort, which I know she will appreciate.
Obviously, this will be generalizing, but I have a few questions about Japanese women's accessory preferences: Do Japanese women prefer simple jewelry or more intricate designs? White gold or Yellow gold? Do they wear stones other than diamonds (e.g. citrines, topaz, etc.)?
Any opinions from Japanese women, or those familiar with Japanese style are appreciated. Here are a few links to a variety of items as options for discussion.

3 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoLeaving engagement ring on in the shower, etc.?
My fiance's engagement ring (White gold) is a little tight when passing the knuckle while taking it off or putting it on (it fits great once in position). But she is starting to develop some pain and skin irritation around the knuckle. She tends to take it off for bed, before showering or going to the gym, etc...so quite frequently.
Can she leave it on for some of these activities without harming it? Or is there some kind of lubricant we can buy that won't harm the ring and will ease the process of removing and replacing?
Thanks in advance.
