Hubby and I are debating the type of door to install. The deck is off one side of a kitchen breakfast nook, which has large windows on 2/3 sides and a door on the 3rd for the deck. The debate is a front door style, with 3 small panes at the top and the rest just wood ... Or a full panel of glass or sectioned glass. I ve thrown the idea of those half door half windows as a compromise, but wasn t met with enthusiasm.

The arguments are: too many windows/fishbowl feel... Vs not wanting to have coffee or thanksgiving dinner looking at a panel of wood on a door.

Thoughts?

I am extremely thankful for a baby shower that's being thrown for me,but in my 8th month and really working on my personal issue of being able to let others do things for me/not control the situation- I need some words of advice....

My mom had a game at her shower (30 years ago) and is doing it for mine-. It's a white elephant exchange, but she's supplying all the gifts (basically random small things, mostly stuff that she's accrued and never used like small picture frames or candle holders, unopened blank christmas cards... Cheesy things etc) -- we're having about 25 people come and I'm nervous about the time this will take. I brought this up and she said we would play the game while I opened gifts. That made me even more nervous, because I can't picture how that would work. Look at my gift then look at the random elephant exchange gift being opened?

Any suggestions, either 'it'll be fine just let it happen' or suggestions on how to make this run a little smoother? Am i out of line for questioning it? Anyone else encounter this at a baby shower?

My mom is making baby shower invitations, and she wants to incorporate both my and my husband s baby pictures for the front. She was going to put a plus sign between our photos and an equal sign to a clip art style baby for our new baby. What do you think... I started thinking too deeply into this and thought maybe that d be weird because it might look like babies having a baby?

What do you think of the name Olin (its an old Scandinavian name) with a nickname of Olie... If you were a mean kid would this be a target of attack and if so how? Any help is appreciated and will be taken as constructive :)

This cake I'm making for my cousin, I'm going to still do the 21 bottles of alcohol but instead of the circle cake it's going to be a cake shaped like a large mug of Guiness - and I'm going to have an empty can of Guiness 'pouring' into the cake ~

I'm trying to come up with something to say on the cake/side of the mug that incorporates turning 21, the mug, and the bottles of alcohol.

Any ideas??! ... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I can always piggy back off of multiple suggestions too!

I'm looking to find out what kind of whisky to get for my husband - He likes the Johnnys, Mccallen, the Glens, and last year I got him Bookers and he likes it occasionally (says its a bit on the strong side)

I know nothing about whisky and was hoping to get some guidance here! I do know that he hated Ardbeg, he said it was waaay too peaty.

I don't drink the stuff, so I don't even know what direction to go when it comes to what it tastes like.

I did some google research and found some names, but I don't know if they're available in the US.

Any of these any good? Or do you have other names you could throw at me?

I have a vision in my head for my dads bday cake - I'm just wondering if it sounds do-able.

I want a 3 tier circle cake with a medium sized 3d John deere tractor out of cake on top.

I trust my skills (mostly!) for the 3d cake, but my other vision of this cake is to decorate the entire 3 tiers to look like its covered in grass, but then I would like to write Happy Birthday on the side as if a lawnmower cut it out of the grass. And then I'm making a small John deere tractor out of rice krispy treat and using a toothpick to stick it into the side after the trail of the Y on birthday.

Obviously I'll need to use a cursive font so all the letters connect... but how would you go about making the grass and the 'cut' grass? I have a couple good decorating tips so I can do the grass, but should I write the happy birthday part first on the side using a knife somehow? And then fill everything else in with 'uncut' grass?

Or, should I decorate the whole cake with uncut grass, and take a fork and write happy birthday - sort of 'cutting' the grass with the fork?

Any suggestions?! (If any of that made sense!)

Our computer has been doing this for a while now, and there's no rhyme or reason for it, except it happens when we're online. We could be on any website, or in the middle of writing an email and the screen resolution starts to zoom to 1000%. It could happen an hour after browsing the internet, or 20 minutes. It seems the longer we have our computer turned off for, the longer stretch between zoom times happen. But once its zoomed, theres no getting it back to 100%. We go to the View tab and change it to 100, but then we just watch it grow right away. I'm typing this quickly, as I've just only restarted the computer to ask this question! Restarting will give a couple minutes before the zoom happens.

Another weird thing is that if the zoom has started going, and we exit all internet browsers - the icons on the desktop will grow to 1000% as well.

What is going on?!! And how do we fix this?! Any help is appreciated!

I have two hanging baskets that I'd like to put out with a christmas-y flower, like a poinsettiea. I'm in WA state, 30 Minutes north of Seattle. These hanging baskets would be undercover, so they wouldn't be getting over watered - I'm just worried about the temperature as I've only seen these flowers indoors. I'd just keep them up through Christmas, so maybe 4 weeks.

Do you think they will last and not die within a week?

Any help or suggestions are appreicated!

My vet told me yesterday that specific Blue Buffalo dog food was recalled... I feed my cat Blue Buffalo (for cats) and have since he was 3 months old. But recently he's been sick - diarrhea mostly. Can anyone inform me if your animal has gotten sick from Blue Buffalo food, what were the symptoms? We've done the full fecal sample thing, and found nothing. He took meds to get better, and was good for a week ... then is back to being sick again. So hes on steroids now, to help clear up the problem while we switch his diet.

If you or anyone you know has used the Blue Buffalo that has gotten animals sick, please let me know what your furry friend's symptoms were. We want our little kitty to be healthy again, so any information is helpful!

(I'm not 100% if he is sick because of this food, I'm just trying to eliminate problems and get information~)

A couple weeks ago our kitten (9 months) had quite a few runny poos, up to 6 times in a 24hr period. No other problems, he ate and drank fine - so the vet gave us some anti inflammatories and then some 'good bacteria' for when he finished his prescription, along with kaopectate to use sparingly. We got him all better after a week of yucky poo, and his BM was back to normal for a little over a week.

Just yesterday he started having runny poos again :(

The only thing we can think of, is this happened when he had been outside for a few times. He was on a harness & leash, just to play in the backyard - but he of course ate some grass. I know animals eat grass to help their tummies or as a dietary thing, but how long would the runny poo last for if he ate grass? I would assume a day or two, so I'm not sure if eating the grass is what caused the problem.

The thing that I don't get is nothing has changed. He eats the same food, there haven't been any stresses or big changes, and just out of nowhere his tummy got upset. I would've said maybe I should change his food, but then that doesn't explain the healthy week+ when he was eating his normal food.

I called the vet, and her suggestions were to re-do the meds again, or change his diet with some specialty food, and worse case - do an investigation through his bowels and see if this may be a lifetime problem.

I just want to know if anyone else has dealt with this, or if you have any suggestions. He is acting normal all except his poo.

Any help is greatly appreciated! - off to look at pet insurance, just to be on the safe side!
