Why do some get offended or uncomfortable when I say thank you. I'm not talking about going on and on or overboard. Just a simple "thank you" or "i really appreciate it". The average person does not seem disturbed but I have noticed it with several individuals on different occasions. They say stop thanking me or something like that. I was just taught good manners. Why are some uncomfortable with showing proper appreciation?

Myself and a whole bunch of friends (like 50) recently tried whitewater rafting in Chattanooga. It was a blast. They were Class 4 rapids, and some class 3. The company that did the tours was great and knowledgeable. Most of us expressed a desire to go again and try Class 5. Will it be much different than Class 4? How much, how so? Thanks.
