  • Lap Swimming Lane Capacity Question?

Can someone tell me the lap swimmer capacity for a 25 meter swimming lane? These would be casual swimmers (no triatheletes or anything like that). I have scoured the internet and have found many references such as "as capacity allows" but have only found numbers relating to high end atheletes. Any links to reference materials would be greatly appreciated!

  • Not trolling, I have 3 honest questions about veganism.?

I'm not trolling, I have 3 honest questions about veganism.

    1. Why is honey not allowed (to my knowledge, no bees are harmed)?

    2. Why is lanolin not allowed (I read an article mentioning it among offensive to vegan items that are not declared in products)?

    3. If lanolin is not allowed, is wool clothing also not allowed?

    Thanks!

  • What is the difference between a machine gun and cannon on military aircraft...?

For example, if an aircraft is armed with .50 cal machine guns and 20mm cannon, what is the difference (other than the caliber)?

  • Real World Elasticity Coefficient Use Question?

I got into an argument regarding how to properly use an elasticity coefficient. I (and several other, unrelated people) have used elasticity as an exponent in the following equation to determine volume impact (in this case, 10% price increase is assumed and elasticity is -1.4). (I'm doing this from memory, so it may not be exact, but my the question relates to use as an exponent):

    Base units x ((1+10%)^-1.4)+1.

The other person said that the equation should be:

    Base units x (10% x -1.4).

Can someone PLEASE point me to some definitive documentation to tell me who is right? Is the other person using a simplified formula that breaks down as the price change gets bigger? Am I nuts?

  • Jewish Funeral Question?

I was at a funeral for a Jewish man (a friend's father) and I had some questions but didnt want to bother my grieving friend.

    1. At the end, the rabbi placed something on the male family members' heads (a small box with a cylinder on top) and leather straps that wrapped around the arms. Then prayers were recited. What was put on the head? Also, why bend in the middle during prayer, is it a bow to God?

    2. The rabbi and one person had strings coming out of their pockets. What is this?

    Thanks!

  • Does GameStop have a scratch removing machine in-store?

I bought a used game at Game Stop. I got an 'unreadable' error deep into the game (and well over the 7 day guarantee). All I want it to be able to run it through a scratch removal machine, but I'm only assuming that they have them in store. Can someone confirm? Thanks!

  • I have roof heat tape that snapped. Can I just twist it back together?

My roof heat tape snapped when a large amount of snow slid off the roof. It looks like it's just a braded copper wire. If I were to twist the wire together and wrap it in electrical tape, would it work?

  • Furnace Help. I already installed a new thermostat?

My gas furnace has an electric pilot. The pilot works fine (glows red hot), and the unit will fire up ok, then the fire will cut out and it will just blow unheated air indefinitely. I replaced the thermostat, but that didn't help. If it turn the thermostat off, then back on, it will blow warm air for awhile before the fire cuts out again. Any advice?
