Who is your favorite president and why?
8 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoWhy do people, especially liberals, generally always wine about "separation of church and state" in arguments?
It seems to me that whenever any issue related to religion (specifically Christianity) occurs this is the main argument. This would make sense if this was actually in the Constitution. This is what the first amendment states, taken from Cornell University law school web site-
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
If you read this, it clearly states that the United States will show no favor toward any one religion, or in other words, won't do what the monarchies in Europe did by having an official state religion (catholicism in France). Along those lines, you can not forget the "free exercise thereof" This once again goes back to offical state religions in Europe, that you were basically forced to follow the monarch and if your beliefs were against them you were forced to stop. This, I understand is never taught in schools, but why are so many people intellectually dishonest during debates. If people just knew the "rules" of our country they would know that religion is not meant to be excluded from government, rather that government would not distinguish between religions.

2 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoDoes anybody have any information on the area around Lynchburg VA? Weather, Economy, Housing, ext?
I currently am in college, live in Connecticut but have a vague familiarity with the southern culture and styles. I would very much like to get away from New England and go to a more conservative area with good schools, jobs, and friendly people. I do not care if you have any information on Lynchburg, but the surrounding area as that area appeals to me.
Thank you
1 AnswerOther - United States1 decade agoOut of couriousity, how many fans of lord of the rings are also Christian?
If you are looking here to bash God please do not post. It is insulting to God and painful to any believers.
I have noticed that all of my Christian friends love the story and that my non Christian friends aren't as into it. When I was saved I also noticed that I was more drawn to lord of the rings, I think that was because the movies were out though and I was old enough to understand the books.
