My girlfriend and her sister are going on holiday to NYC in a few weeks time and are staying in a Harlem hotel. Harlem is portrayed in films as being a rough, dangerous area. Is this still the case? Thank you in advance.

I'm wondering if there are any Muslims on here that don't regard December 25th as just another day in the calendar. Are there any Muslims on here that exchange presents on December 25th? Or have an extra large family meal (similar to a 'Christmas dinner')? I am well aware of Jesus's existence within The Holy Qur'an and I understand that He, like Moses and Mohammed, are considered to be prophets of Allah/God. I'm just wondering if there are any Muslims on here that celebrate December 25th?

ps I am well aware that December 25th is an ancient Pagan celebration of the Winter Solstice. I am an atheist. As an atheist, born and raised by atheists, I celebrate Christmas (but obviously NOT as any theist ritual). With my family on Christmas Day, I enjoy a hearty meal, lots of wine, port, cheese, whisky a 5 or sometimes 7 bird meal with all the trimming and the exchange of presents.

I'm just wondering at what point does a cult become a religion. Is Scientology still a cult? Aren't all religions cults? (I think so but what do you think?)

It seems tragic and frankly outrageous for a country that claims to have ultimate freedom to NOT have unlimited access to free healthcare. It must be awful for the people who can't afford health insurance, mustn't it? I can't imagine living in a society where going to the doctor or havig an operation would actually cost me money. Why aren't Americans rioting in the streets for it? How can a country that produces so much money not afford (or choose to not pay for) universal healthcare?

I look at the UK's NHS (National Health Service), which is the 4th largest employer in the world, with complete and utter pride. For a country of only 60 million people, I find it amazing that the NHS employs more than one in 60 people.

I'm aware that Bush made it virtually impossible for there to ever be a universal health plan in the US, but why aren't people going mad about? Americans, do you look at the Healthcare 'sectors' of countries such as Canada, UK and France with a sense of frustration or anger at your own government?

I know I would. I hope that one day the American people elect somebody who will ACTUALLY look after the people and put a national insurance plan in place... For the health of Americans whom, as a people, (not a country) like actually quite like.

I do not mean to cause any offense! I can understand why he'd create create planets, solar systems, plants and animals- because they are all totally righteous things. But why would He create angels and Humans, and them tell them how to spend their lives and tell them that they have to worship him? Why all the worship and pray? Does he get off on all the praying and worshipping? Does He need it? If not, then why would He demand it? He's God after all, he supposedly IS everything. So why then does he ask for everyone to pray to him. Surely He knows how great He is? Is He insecure? Why all the atttention seeking? Hasn't He got better things to do, without the need for people (His suppossed creation) to spend their lives praying and worshipping Him?

Why would he create satan and hell? surely then he made some humans deliberately evil, otherwise he wouldn't have made us evil in the first place? isn't it quite a cruel and sadistic thing for a creator to do. it's a bit like if giuseppe made pinocchio out of wood, then sent him to work as a fireman or a pyrotechnic expert. i mean, come on, what was He thinking, seriously?!?!

...for Christians and Muslims to say (and beleive) that I must beleive in god/jesus to be accepted into heaven? If i live a true, decent, honest and charitable life, though 100% do not beleive in gods, would i still get into heaven? (not that i actually beleive in heaven/afterlife in any way, because i don't - i'm just curious as to what religous types on here think about it)
