  • Spaghetti monsters and God.?

All of existence (universe, alternate dimensions, other realities) is not the same thing as your closet of the space under your bed.

So why do people treat spaghetti monsters and leprechauns as serious arguments against having faith in God and thumb down answers that speak out against the spaghetti monsters?

Also, is there anyone over the age of 14 who treats the Easter bunnies and Santa Claus as a serious argument against God? Or is the R&S section dominated by children who copy and paste from atheist websites and thumb down Christian answers?

  • Favorite thing about your religion?

  • People who have seen things...?

Do you think that all people who claimed to have had a weird/paranormal experience are delusional or imagining things? Or could some people really be telling the truth? For that matter, have you seen or experienced something and knew you weren't imagining things?

  • What is your favorite unexplained mystery...?

or event that could be considered paranormal, or basically anything people can debate about.

Is it the Bermuda Triangle? Aliens? Crop Circles? Bigfoot? Missing time?

Mine would have to be aliens.

  • Trolls at the religion section?

There are several people who each spend several hours every day spamming this place with nonsense and insults disguised as questions. It's as if they are paid employees doing a job. The same people were here five months ago, when I was visiting this place every day. They are still here. For some reason, the moderators do not delete their questions or ban these people.

I won't mention their names for two reasons:

    1) It's probably against the rules.

    2) I don't want to flatter the egos of these people.

Do you think this place is totally infested with paid disinformation agents? Do you think that communist countries and other countries that hate freedom of speech and freedom of religion are behind this? Or is that just paranoid thinking?

What should those of us who provide serious answers do? Should we abandon Yahoo! Answers? Or should we fight back against the trolls and keep answering questions here and keep reporting the trolls over and over again?

  • Question for Christians about church?

For example, let's say that you're a Catholic and you move to a town where there is no Catholic church nearby, what would you do? Could you go to an Orthodox church or an Anglican church, or whatever is the next closest thing to Catholic?

Or, if you're a Baptist, can you go to a Lutheran church or Methodist church or whatever is available if there is no Baptist church nearby?

How seriously do you take denomination and why?

  • Why are you here at the religion section?

Are you here to learn? Are you here to preach? Are you here to defend your beliefs? What is your main reason for being here?

Do you feel that you have learned something new in your time here or influenced anyone in a positive way?

  • Question about evolution for those who believe in God?

What are your views on creation vs. evolution? If you're Christian or Jewish, how do you interpret the few chapters of Genesis?

  • Question for everyone about religious affiliation?

If someone was to ask you why you were a Christian, what would you say? Would you be stumped and say "I don't know?" Or would you have an answer?

If someone was to ask you why you were an atheist, what would you say?

Same thing for Hinduism, Buddhism, and any other type of belief... you get the point.

As for me, I'm a Christian because I believe that God exists and that Jesus Christ was crucified and resurrected.

  • Do you thumb down answers?

I oppose censorship. So I quit thumbing down answers. And I only report people if they're being truly hateful.

It is my opinion that the thumb down feature should be taken away, at least from the politics and religion sections since everyone abuses that feature to censor opinions they disagree with.

What is your stance, and why?

  • Do your beliefs influence your diet?

This question is for everyone, including Christians, atheists, Hindus, Muslims... everyone.

Are there any foods that you avoid because of religious reasons or any kind of spiritual or ethical reasons? How strict are you about it? Was this a personal decision, or a tradition in your family and culture as well?

On a related note, are there any foods you eat on a regular basis or on certain days because of your beliefs?

I've stated my views many times when answering questions and have been outspoken (Christian and vegetarian). But I'm curious about other points of view, and also hope I thought of a question of ask that hasn't already been asked many times recently.

    Thanks.

  • Question about cat food and my cat' s weight?

The only kind of dry food I've found that he will eat is original flavor Meow Mix. The only kind of canned food he likes is Friskies in gravy. He turns up his nose at everything else. And I've been letting that slide and have kept buying what he likes. But now he's gained some weight recently. He's not morbidly obese or anything like that. He is overweight though.

There is another cat living here and they both get along with each other and run around and play. But my cat apparently isn't getting enough exercise, or is eating too much.

Does anyone know of a reduced fat dry food that has a similar flavor to Meow Mix, that is, a cat who likes Meow Mix might also like the other stuff? Is there a low fat canned food similar to Friskies? Or is there no other way than to buy a bunch of different kinds of cat food and end up throwing most of it away/giving it to someone?

    Thanks.

  • Scientific evidence for God?

This question isn't just for Christians, just for atheists, or just for any one group. It's for everyone.

Do you believe that there is any scientific evidence that an outside intelligence created the universe and any life therein?

  • Should we blame religion for the Dark Ages?

    Yes or no and why?

I'll share my thoughts after I pick a best answer. After all, I'm actually curious to find out about different viewpoints and do not want to give off the impression that I'm 'preaching'.

    So what are your thoughts?

  • Bible contradictions?

I found some websites that Christians might find useful when answering questions here at R&S.

So what are your thoughts? Is it possible that the Bible really doesn't contradict? Or is the idea of contradictions an "article of faith" for anti-theism?
