  • What is the difference between Dell home and business accounts?

When I got my first Dell laptop, it was purchased by the state, since they contract through them. I was to register the laptop under my name, and all of the contract agreements and warranty transferred. My account was automatically set up as a government account, and a year later changed to a business account. The service was always great, with someone coming to repair by the next day on site.

So all I've ever had is a Business account. What are the differences in these accounts?

  • Back problems causing pain in other areas of my body?

I have degenerative disc disease, L5-S1 foraminal stenosis and arthritis through my entire spine. Because I’ve got multiple conditions, standing, sitting or laying down will each relieve something but aggravate another issue. All of my problems are on my left side.

I also get a feeling like a cramped muscle around my shoulder blade that, when it really acts up, can cause tingling down my arm to my fingertips. If I have my girlfriend massage the area, I can’t guide her to where it hurts, it’s ends up being a different area that’s tender than what it seems to me.

I also get this pain around my rib cage on my left side, which is hard to describe, kind of a burning and kind of stabbing. It feels like it’s a radiating pain, but the muscles between my ribs in those places also become really tender.

These 2 pains I can’t make sense of. All of the other pain I know exactly where it’s from. What exactly could be the cause?

  • Are landlords able to leave stab lok breakers in a rental?

The house I’m renting has a very old breaker panel, which is a federal pacific stab-lok panel. I have run my air compressor a number of times without the breaker tripping, then, one day it finally did trip. It was then that I found out that my garage is on the same 15 amp breaker as the dining room and the refrigerator. At that point I wondered why it hadn’t tripped before. That was when I did some research into it and found out those types were recalled in 1985 because they are a fire hazard because of the bus bar, plus the tendency for them to fail to trip when overloaded.

Are these something that could still be grandfathered in on a house? Or are they supposed to be replaced for rentals in most states?

  • Why does one of my laptops blow out much hotter air than the other?

I have 2 laptops, a dell latitude e6520 and the other is an Inspiron that’s a couple years newer. They were both originally windows 7, now have windows 10, both have an i5 processor, the latitude’s is slightly faster.

When I run my latitude, the fan will blow out very warm air, and seems to blow out a lot more air than the Inspiron. The inspirons air doesn’t feel near as warm. They are both completely clean inside, and I’ve got the overclock function on my latitude turned off.

Is there a reason it would feel much hotter?

  • How can I recover the files from my WD my book drive?

My old WD my book is old enough that it used an IDE hard drive. The circuit board that connects to the drive, power supply and usb went bad, and someone threw it and the housing out before I could get information written down. If I hook it up with an IDE adapter, all files show as RAW, so I can’t do anything with them. It’s got the backups of all my important documents, books from school, and photos of my family. Does anyone have any information on how to recover them, and any software that doesn’t cost a lot?

  • What exactly is the difference between playing in modes and the key a song is in?

I understand what a key signature is, I understand what a major and minor scale is, pentatonic scales, and I see, on paper, that modes are basically just a diatonic scale starting different notes than the root note, with the ionic mode being the same as the diatonic major scale.

I’ve played guitar for 20 years, but I mostly play by ear and some guitar tabs. What I can’t figure out is when they talk about a lead guitar player applying different modes. Does it mean they are still using the same key, but the note they start on decide the mode? For example, if the song is in the key of C major, and the guitarist is using the mixolydian mode, is he playing with the first note of the mode as C? If so, I’d think everything would sound way off

  • Do I need a voltage regulator when converting ac voltage from an adapter to dc?

I have an 1800ma ac adapter, converts 110 ac to 9 volts ac. It looks just like a typical ac to dc adapter, just that it’s output is still ac. The output voltage reads as a constant 9.6 volts. What I’m needing is a dc output

I have bridge rectifiers and capacitors to convert to dc, but no 9v regulators. Do I really need to use a regulator for the output since the ac output is already regulated?

  • What’s the best ratio of half and half to heavy cream for homemade ice cream?

Since I got an ice cream maker for Christmas, I enjoy making ice cream. I’ve had one difficulty with it, and that’s the amount of half and half to heavy cream to use. If I use too much half and half, it melts very easily, but too much cream makes it so hard it’s impossible to scoop. I’m trying to figure out the ideal ratio.

  • What more do I need to convert 9v ac to dc and function correctly ?

I have a 110 volt ac to 9v ac adapter that I want to convert to dc to power some devices. I have a number of bridge rectifiers, capacitors, resistors, breadboard, and the tools needed to test and assemble circuits. If I understand correctly, I need to use a capacitor in the circuit. Am I correct? What ratings of the capacitor I’d need?

  • How much should I ask for a Quincy 230-32 air compressor in good condition?

I acquired an old Quincy 230-32 air compressor pump and motor from a friend. It had been overhauled a few years before, and still worked well. It’s too big for me to use, so I’m planning to sell it. Looking online, I saw a refurbished pump for over $2,000 on eBay, with no motor or pulley. So I have no idea what I should start my asking price at.

  • Is there an app and a way to plug in my guitar to my iPhone then to my amp as an effects processor?

I have an irig, but I’m not looking to use GarageBand to record songs or use my iPhone or iPad as the amplifier. I’m wanting to find a way to just have it run in series to my amp and use an app that works as an effects processor until I can afford to buy a processor or pedals I want. I’m wanting to have a flanger, delay, and reverb at least. Not needing anything fancy, preferably a free app.

  • How can I find information on a 1982 Coachmen Travel Trailer ?

I’ve inherited a coachmen 25’ travel trailer, not sure if you’d call it a bunkhouse. It’s a model year of 82-84, not exactly certain. It’s a bumper pull. At the front it has a couch that folds out into a bed. As you go back, you have the sink and gas range on one side, the refrigerator on the other. Next, on each side you have single size bunk beds on each side, and the bathroom at the back, no bathtub, just a shower stall. It has no slide out.

I have tried finding information online about it, but can’t get anything exact on the model. I’d love to find an owners manual. I’m wanting to restore it, much is in good condition, so want to find any information I can on it.

  • What is the difference in the use as a potentiometer vs a rheostat?

I’m no expert in electronics, but I do toy around a little as a hobby. I’m familiar with the use of rheostats to vary resistance, but don’t really understand the reason for the third pin on a pot. What kind of applications are all 3 pins used for, and what function does it serve?

  • What are the pros and cons of a .270 Winchester to a 30-06?

I’ve only used a 270 when I’ve hunted deer, many years ago, it was my fathers, I was 14-16 years old. My dad was great with it, taking deer at 500 yards.

Nowadays, anyone younger than me insists the 30-06 is superior, and doesn’t believe me when I say the 270 is derived from a 30 06 casing. Can anyone tell me where the 270 excels and where it’s inferior to a 30-06?

  • S&S two throat carburetor for Harley shovelhead?

My dad died 2 years ago, and many of his personal belongings were kept in many different places, so I’m still trying to find a lot of them. Yesterday I came across some of his parts from his 78 Electra glide that he wrecked years ago and he thought had been stolen. In there was an S&S two throat carburetor. I know I’ll never have a use for it, so thinking I’ll sell it. It needs to be cleaned and rebuilt, but all parts including intake manifold are there with no damage. I’m trying to figure out what it’s worth. I don’t want to end up selling it for way less than I could get from it. I’ve looked online, but can’t find much on people selling them and on value.

  • Is it possible to send old voicemails to email on Android phones?

My girlfriend has a lot of voicemails on her motorola g6 from a girl that was like a daughter to her. Her voicemail is completely full, and trying to find a way to transfer them to a computer. I’ve tried using Audacity to record them, but have had no luck. She’s now trying to figure out if there’s a way to send them to email. I know that there’s apps that forward new voicemails to email, but don’t know of any that can be used for old ones. I don’t believe she’s got visual voicemail on her phone. She uses a prepaid plan through Verizon.

  • How should I fill the ruts beside my driveway?

I’ve developed a bad rut right beside my concrete driveway. It’s because after all of the rain, one side of my driveway now angles to one side, and so my vehicle slides off into the rut when driving in. I filled it with dirt, which only came back. I set paver bricks there, but the rut got bigger.  Should I use a mixture of gravel and sand and tamp it? Possibly put quikrete on top, spray with water and let it set? The way it looks isn’t important, I’m just trying to stop the rut getting worse when it rains and also be able to get in my driveway without it being so rough

  • Is it worth it to restore a 1982 coachmen travel trailer?

When my dad died, included in his estate is a 26 foot bumper pull coachmen, I believe it’s a 1982 year. I found out my dad wanted me to have it. When it was parked at the family farm about 10 years ago, it needed work on the water lines, new carpet, a board on the floor was weak, and it’s had hail damage, but the propane system, and everything else inside was still functional, and no broken windows. I’m certain it needs new tires after sitting so long, and, until I can go look, not sure if mice have found a way in.

I’m considering fixing it back up to use on camping trips to nearby places, not needing to go long distances

  • Can watermelon rind pickles work without peeling ?

I’ve been wanting to make refrigerator pickles with watermelon rind using cinnamon candy. I just got done cutting up a watermelon, then cut up the rind. One mistake, I forgot to peel it. I’ve always made refrigerator pickles from cucumbers and zucchini without peeling. Will they still work ok if I leave the skin on?
