  • What are the difficulties with drilling through the Earth's crust?

I'd imagine there is unlimited free renewable energy down there. It's only 10km through the upper crust, 10km is relatively simple at a slight angle, so where are the issues going straight down. Pressure? Heat? Cost?

  • What do Muslims think of bad Mohammed's?

Firstly, I don't want any racist or insulting replies. I'm genuinely curious.

When the Danes published those cartoons, there were murders due to the insult on Mohammed.

When students named a pineapple Mohammed, there were nearly riots.

There were even reports that an afghan teenager was murdered for joking that he wouldn't even give a discount to Mohammed.

My question is this, I have seen drug dealers called Mohammed, read of child molesters called Mohammed and murderers called Mohammed. They are all named after the prophet, or even goven themselves that name. Surely this should be the biggest insult of all. Why is there not worldwide islamic outrage to the blasphemy they commit while using Mohammed's name?

  • What do you call the lone group of trees on top of a hill?

When there are fields and fields with no trees and there is suddenly a hill and on the very top of the hill is a small wooded area. What is it called and how is it formed, is it natural or man made. Is there a purpose to it?

    Thanks.

  • What happens when the tooth fairy makes a mistake?

Last night 'she' put the coin under the pillow but forgot to take the tooth away... Silly girl.

Son has found the old tooth thinking he's quids in! The tooth is back under the pillow for the second night in a row.

What should the tooth fairy do? Give him another coin? Take the tooth? Leave it?

Please don't criticise the tooth fairy. She had a busy day and a couple of glasses of wine before her shift!

  • What colour are Russians?

Sounds daft I know. All of the Russians I know are from the west of the country so look fairly Scandinavian/ Eastern European. But the country spans most of the eastern hemisphere, passing the Middle East and china. So in the Far East of the country do they look oriental and in the middle do they have middle eastern traits? If so, how slowly do they merge from an oriental look to Scandinavian?

  • How do you buy a car at auction?

I'm thinking of going to a BCA auction. Looking for a diesel mondeo, up to 4 years old. Never been to an auction before. Do you have to pay a membership fee / entrance fee? How much do catalogues cost? (I assume you need one) how much is the buyers fee for a one off buyer? And roughly, how much below the normal cost of this sort of car would an auction price be expected to be?

I know it can be a gamble, but am hoping with this age car, there shouldn't be too much risk. Am I being naive?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Should I buy a diesel?

When I go to car dealers, they tell me it's not worth getting a diesel as I only do about 8k miles a year but I feel this is just because they don't have many diesels in stock. However, they all seem to be double the fuel efficiency and perform pretty well too. Is it worth changing.

For info, looking at going from a 1.6 zafira (petrol) to a 2.0 insignia (tdi).

  • How do I liven up Christmas dinner?

I always used to have really busy Christmas dinner with 15+ people. Lots of noise and activity. Now, people have moved away, died or are just busy, there are just the 4 of us, it is just like any family meal apart from eating turkey and wearing a silly hat. What can I do with just the 4 of us to make it more of an event?

  • What are the arguments of holocaust denyers?

I have always been interested in hearing conspiracy theories. Whether or not I believe them is irrelevant, but there are interesting questions always raised. However, although I know holocaust denyers exist, I have never heard one argument to defend their claim and evidence of the holocaust is overwhelming. I understand that it is even illegal in some countries to answer this but what arguments do they raise that could cast doubt on this dark, but well documented, part of history?

  • Why would someone be asked to be a non executive director?

A friend has been asked by his father (with whom he has had very little contact for several years) to be a non executive director of one of the small businesses that he owns.

The father has stated this is so that he could leave this business as an inheritance should he die. He has not been asked to take any active involvement with the company whatsoever.

Is it possible there could be an alternative motive for this, would my friend be liable should the business go bankrupt or could he be liable for business debts? Alternatively, is this to identify some sort of tax break, although my friend receives no income?

    Thanks.

  • Why do so many gay men sound camp?

I know a lot do not sound camp and there are a lot of very straight people that sound camp, but it appears that a much higher percentage of gay men have camp accents than straight ones, why is this? Is it a deliberate self identification, is it a hormonal thing.... Just curious.

  • How do you get rid of cigarette smell?

I've lived in the house for 2.5 years. We've put in new carpets, redecorated throughout and have air fresheners. The old occupants used to smoke, and I still smell it if we've been out of the house for a day or so.

  • Do you recommend airport lounges?

I very rarely fly, but am flying with my family (2 kids, 4 & 7) from gatwick south on a wednesday midday. Is it worth spending £60 on getting a comfy sofa to sit on away from the hoards, or would it be more fun spunking it on arcades and duty free?
