What kind of plant is this?
http://www.flickr.com/photos/14121122@N06/48980288...
It grows to about 3ft tall (max) with stalks covered in blue flowers. They seed every fall, & come back every year, but don't seem to spread very much.
2 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agoHow to secure a short (12-16inch) garden retaining wall?
I have a small, sloped flower bed beside my concrete front steps. There's currently stones between it and my walkway. I'd like to pull out the rocks and build a short wall up against the walkway, and fill it in with dirt. The walkway is almost a perfect 90deg corner. The 2 walls I'd need to build are 4ft and 7ft.
I bought some driveway bricks, 8x4x3, and am thinking about laying around 4 rows high. The bottom row will be half the height lower than the sidewalk stones, and I was going to use quickcrete to attach the bricks together.
Will this work? Should I use the concrete to attach the wall to the walkway and steps to make sure it will not fall over? Any better suggestions?
3 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agoExcel formula DATEDIF, but ignore blank cells?
So far I have this:
=DATEDIF(K1011,TODAY(),"d")
If the K1011 cell is blank, it returns an answer of 40213. How can I get it to either appear blank or 0 instead?
I'm using conditional formatting to white out the value if it exceeds 365, but I'd prefer to figure out how to fix it. I think it's an IF function, but I just can't get it right.
4 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoHow can I import data from shared excel files without locking the originals?
I would like to pull the data from multiple shared workbooks stored on our server into one local spreadsheet to update when I need. I tried using "Import External Data" in excel without changing any of the options, and the source data spreadsheet would be locked from editing whenever I had my local sheet open.
Is there any way to do this without locking the source data?
2 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoCan I be automatically notified every time a shared document is updated?
I have a scheduling excel spreadsheet, and am trying to find out if there's a way to be notified somehow (email, pop up, reminder) whenever is has been changed or updated. The file is kept on a shared drive.
1 AnswerSoftware1 decade agoWhat are some good bars in Minneapolis?
We're looking for something with cheaper drinks or good happy hour specials, and more of a casual place/dive bar. Thinking about going downtown, but am open to other areas. Also, are bars open and alcohol served on Sundays?
1 AnswerOther - US Dining Out1 decade agoIs the Minneapolis Sculpture garden still open in the winter?
And is it worth going to check out in December, or is it completely snowed in and just a pain?
2 AnswersSculpture1 decade agoIs fiberglass or acrylic a better choice for a bathtub?
Also, are there weight restrictions on a tub, or does it just depend on the prepwork done on the floor underneath? The sides on some of the tubs I've looked at look kind of flimsy. How do I tell if a tub is good or not?
2 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoWhat is the formula in Excel to calculate the months remaining in a year?
I need to calculate the number of months remaining in the calendar year, to 2 decimal points, from the current date.
Also, if it could only include work days, that would be helpful, but not necessary.
3 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoVLOOKUP - Need to search for any cell that contains the Lookup Value?
I'm trying to make a VLOOKUP Query to tell me if the Lookup Value can be found in the table array. However, the table array does not contain the exact Lookup Value.
Example: Lookup Value = "AB0762"
Table Array = "not found: AB0762"
I need the formula to recognize that the lookup value IS contained in the table array cell.
Changing the Range Lookup does not help, is there any way to have VLOOKUP or another formula search for a cell that Contains the value?
1 AnswerSoftware1 decade agoRoad Trip from Winnipeg MB to San Antonio TX.?
We're planning on driving to San Antonio this fall (September probably). I'm looking for any suggestions on attractions or things to check out either in SA or along the way.
So far the plan is to head south on the I29 then I35. We will be camping mostly, so any campground suggestions near our route are greatly appreciated!
Also, is it worth the extra 8 hour drive to go to New Orleans?
3 AnswersOther - United States1 decade agoHow long will it take to replace lath and plaster walls with drywall sheets?
We are planning to renovate our bathroom, which currently has plaster walls. The plaster is not repairable, as there is no bathroom fan, and when we bought the house the walls were moldy and crumbling. The room is small, about 5ft X 8ft at most.
Is this something we could easily get done in a weekend? I've never worked with lath and plaster before. The house was built in the 1940s, should I leave the lath up?
We're planning on replacing all fixtures as well, as the wall behind the shower is rotting away, so I'm hoping we won't have to go more than a couple days without a shower!
5 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoIs a steel or wood door better for insulation?
I live in Manitoba, so we get temperatures form 40C to -50C (104F to -58F). I need something that insulates very well, obviously. We currently have a wood door, but it's dried out, cracking, etc.
5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoIs there any way to format multiple Excel workbooks at once?
I have 61 ugly, individual files, and I need to give them the same font, column sizing, and cell validation (list).
Is there anyway to do this to all the files at once, instead of each individually?
1 AnswerSoftware1 decade agoIs there a method of declawing cats...that's not actually declawing?
A coworker was just talking about a surgery for cats where they don't remove the claw or tips of their toes, it just stops them from being able to extend their claws?
...I still think this would be pretty cruel, I just want to know if I can call him an idiot or not ;)
9 AnswersCats1 decade agoWhat is the best way to dig a fencepost hole right up against my house?
I need to put a fence gate in so my dog can safely play in my backyard. There's already a bit of fence attached to my neighbor's house, that goes about halfway across the space btwn our houses. I plan to put a post right up against my house's outer wall, since I'm wary of actually attaching the fence to my house.
How on earth do I dig a hole as close to the wall as possible? I was looking at a manual auger, but the arm needs to turn 360 degrees. I have a feeling I might lose control of a power auger and end up with a new, unwanted "window"
7 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)1 decade agoLooking for some guesses on what kind of dog I have.?
We adopted this dog a couple months ago. The shelter said she was a Sheltie Cross, but I'm not so sure about that. I found a picture of an English Shepherd that kind of looks like her too.
She's 3 years old, so fully grown. About 45lbs, and her back is about knee high.
Any guesses?

10 AnswersDogs1 decade agoCan I spray my empty garden with Round Up before planting to get rid of weeds and grass?
Also, I have some barrel style planters to the side of my house, and I was wanting to put potatoes in them. They are currently filled with dirt and grass from extending my garden, we just dumped the lawn we dug up in them.
Can we spray some sort of vegitation killer, then fertilize, etc and plant our desired crops?
