  • Is sparkling mineral water bad for you?

I don't like soda and usually only drink water, coffee or tea but occasionally I drink a Sprite because I like to have something fizzy every now and again. They recently started putting sparkling mineral water in the vending machines on campus and I bought it out of curiosity. I love it because it's fizzy but not sugary. I've been drinking it pretty much everyday for the last few weeks or so.

What I want to know is if it's unhealthy or not? I mean, it's only water with CO2 bubbles added right? It doesn't have all the high fructose corn syrup and Yellow Lake #5(whatever that is) that soda has, so it must not be too bad, right?

  • Can someone help me figure out this problem I'm having with Tumblr?

I just recently started using the Tumblr. I want to post all my artworks on a specific page so that people can look at them without having to scroll through all the other tomfoolery on the blog. I found that you have to tag posts this way to make them appear on different pages: yourname.tumblr.com/tagged/pagename

So I tag my works thusly: lovesickrenegade.tumblr.com/tagged/works

But the things I tag are not showing up on the page I have designated for them to appear on. Why? I know I'm probably making some stupid mistake but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. A little help please?

  • Do you ever think about random strangers you've met in passing?

Maybe I'm the only one but sometimes, I sometimes find myself thinking about the random people I see out and about during the day and wondering about their lives. I'm always thinking things like, "I wonder how that old lady from the doctor's office is doing." "Is that couple I saw arguing at the store still together?" "Did that kid on the transit have fun at the park?" "I wonder if that lady at the restaurant is still waiting for her friend to show up." Sometimes I like to make up stories about them in my head.

    Do you ever do that?

  • Was the movie "Sucker Punch" based on a manga or anime?

I just got around to watching this last weekend and the whole time they were in their little alternate world or whatever, I just keep feeling like I was watching a live action American adaptation of an anime. I mean, you've got sexy school uniforms, mecha, katanas, iron samurai, and the whole "cute, helpless looking girl turns out to be badass" thing they had going on. Not to mention all the panty shots thrown in fight sequences lol.

If it is based on a manga, I'd be interested in reading it, since I feel that film adaptations of manga, anime, books and such always sacrifice a lot of story in favor of cool visuals and leave me feeling like "Well that all looked cool, but what about the plot?"

  • Do they make versions of the old Final Fantasy games for PC?

I was just wondering. I bought FF1 and 2 for my phone from Verizon Wireless' app store. I was surprised to see them available! I managed to beat 1 but I'm stuck on the Dreadnought on 2 and I'm getting frustrated with the small screen. I was wondering if there are versions of these games for PC? Seems like there would be if there are cell phone versions, but I can't seem to find them. I'm also in the market for other PC versions of arcade/NES games if anyone knows of any!

I may actually make a quick sketch of the best answer if the suggestions are any good, depending on how bored I am tomorrow.

  • Is it shallow of me not to be interested in males over a certain age?

I'm 21 years old and, for a good part of my life, most of the men who've been interested in me have been old enough to be my father. I know that it's probably because I reached puberty at an embarrassingly early age, so there was not much I could do about it. I've never been an attractive girl, but my looks never seemed to deter these guys like it repels younger guys, which is kind of weird.

The problem is, now, even though I'm technically old enough to date the men who are interested in me, I still have no interest in them. I still feel the same way I did when I was a teenager and I doubt I'll feel like an adult anytime soon. I like guys in my own age group, and I'd prefer someone who shares my interests. It seems like all older men think about is money and much of what they have to say is boring. I really feel like I don't have anything in common with these guys. Likewise, I can hardly imagine any man over 40 wanting to hear about anything I'd want to talk about either. What kinds of activities would we even do together? My friends and family tell me I should get a boyfriend, and that dating even a much older man would be good for me. To be honest, I have been pretty lonely in the last few years since my first relationship, I just don't want to get stuck with someone I don't find engaging, someone who wants a serious relationship when I'm still just trying to figure out my life. It just wouldn't be fair to either of us, just a waste of time really.

I explained this to a 52 year old man who always wants to talk to me when we're on the city bus. He said that my way of thinking is kind of shallow and that I should be happy that he wants to take care of me, especially considering it doesn't seem like guys my own age will ever look at me. I don't feel that I need a caretaker...and I don't really mind being alone if I don't think about it too much. His words just got me thinking and even though my opinions make sense to me, I wonder if my logic is wrong.

So is he right about this? Or does my thinking seem logical? It probably won't change my mind, but it'd be interesting to hear other people's opinions.

  • I'm looking for women's button down shirts that are similar to men's?

I need some plain, solid colored button down shirts basically, but all the one's in the women's department are either really stupid looking with a bunch of extraneous decorations/patterns, made of super thin or otherwise weird fabric, sleeveless or 3/4 length, or cut awkwardly(either too short and wide or nearing the length of a dress).

I would have no problem buying shirts from the men's department (I buy men's clothes often anyway) but I notice that button down shirts don't fit a female figure right (The buttons gap at the bust and hips, and the shirt is always baggy around the shoulders).

I just want a plain, regular button shirt, like guys' dress shirts, only with a good fit for my curvy bits. Where can I find this elusive type of clothing? (Gosh, shopping is annoying.) Anyone that can find one in charcoal grey or black is a plus!

  • Are keytars legitimate instruments or more like toys?

I've always thought keytars were a interesting, convenient concept and that it could be cool to have one, since they look easier to carry than a keyboard and you can actually move around with one. But are they really serious instruments? Most of the ones I've seen look like kids toys. I'm a pretty low level piano player anyway but it seems like it'd be nice to use to make some simple melodies to accompany vocals.

  • Am I feeding my kitten enough?

My kitten is almost 4 months old but only weighs 2.8 pounds. My friend who has cats says she's way underweight and that she should be at least 4 pounds by now and that I might not be feeding her enough. I feed her 3 times daily, half a 5.6 ounce can of Wiskas wet food in the morning and the other half at night. I leave her a bowl of dry Purina kitten chow to eat during the day while I'm away if she wants it.(I feel like the wet food will get all crusty and gross/spoil from being left out in the air.) She usually has about half the dry food I give her left when I get home. She always has fresh water too. Occasionally she gets a little cube of cheddar cheese as a treat(she loves cheese for some reason).

I took her to the vet for a checkup and shots last week and she(the vet) didn't seem concerned about her weight and said she was healthy. It didn't occur to me that I might not be feeding her enough until my friend said she was underweight. Maybe she's just going to be a small cat? She doesn't look skinny and is always very lively.

  • I've had ringing in my ears for a while and now that I notice it, it's driving me nuts.?

I noticed a few months ago that the ringing sound I hear in quiet rooms is actually coming from inside my head. I didn't realize before, but now that I've noticed and done research about Tinnitus, I feel like it has gotten worse. I know that it probably stems from having earbuds in with the music too loud and now I fear that one day I'm going to be completely deaf. :(

I don't hear the ringing when there is a little constant noise present but when it's completely quiet I can't help but think about it and it seems to get louder. Last night, I had trouble sleeping because every time I put my ear against the pillow and it would block the sound of the fan, it seemed like the ringing would get louder and louder the longer I lay there listening to it. I'm afraid to use my earbuds at all now for fear that they will make the condition worse but I'm having trouble concentrating while at work because the room is too quiet and I can't stop listening to the ringing! I'm not sure at this point how much of this is "Tinnitus worsening" and how much is just me freaking out. What can I do?

  • Have you ever tried dying your hair blue-black...?

...and it just came out black? I bought Revlon Luxurious ColorSilk Buttercream in 12 BB Blue Black. The box showed a photo of black hair with a bluish tint, which looked really interesting. I thought it would be good to minimize the reddish dark brown color that my hair is naturally. Well I used it and during processing the dye looked like it would tint my hair navy or purple (super exciting!) but now that it's dry my hair is just regular, plain old black. No blue at all. I like it and all. It's super shiny and looks edgier and cooler than my natural color. Just disapointed about the lack of blue.

I'm wondering if this is what normally happens with a "blue-black" hair color, or if it had something to do with the warm tones in my natural hair color, or if this brand is just another dud (like L'oreal Feria's Midnight Stars was). What do you guys think? Also, do you have suggestions for getting blue-black or purplish tints in black hair? I'd like to try it again in the future.

  • How much should I charge for freelance graphic design work?

I'm a graphic designer and just recently got a request for a logo and business card for a friend who's trying to get her business up and running. It's my first freelance job, outside of the work I've done for the campus design job I have. I'm still a student, so I don't want to charge too much, but I also don't want to sell myself sort and charge too little. Where I work, we charge clients $25 per hour. I'm actually quite skilled at this point, so I feel I could make both logo and business card in about 12 hours. But I don't know if I feel comfortable charging my friend (actually a teacher I had in high school) 300 for a logo and business card. It seems like so much money! Any advice?

  • How to flatten super short hair?

I recently got a short haircut, it's longer on top/front, shorter on the sides and super short in the back(about as long as the second joint of my thumb). It's the first time I've ever had short hair and I loved how it turned out. Only trouble is, after washing it I can't get it to lay down in the back like it did when the stylist did it. She relaxed it that day (about a week ago) and my curlicues haven't come back yet ha ha. The longer part is no trouble with a quick run through with the flat iron. I bought a small flat iron, (I think it's 3/4 of an inch) but I just can't seem to grab the hair in the back of my head with the thing and that part sticks out like hedgehog spines. I'm generally opposed to putting gel in my hair because I'm not in a 90s boy band :) but perhaps I could try something like that. I just don't know what to buy. Any tips?

  • My new kitten wakes up early in the morning, crying. What can I do?

I've had my 9 week old kitten for 5 days now. The first day I got her, she was apprehensive about my apartment and hid under the sofa most of the day. She also would periodically meow loudly. My mom said that the problem was that she felt "lost" and was calling for her mother and littermates. It made me so sad I almost sent her back so she could be with them. But a day or so later her behavior changed. She's doing wonderfully adjusting to my apartment and follows me everywhere wanting to play and snuggle. She uses the litter box every time, plays, eats and naps normally.

The big problem that I'm having is getting her to stop feeling lonely at night. I don't want her to sleep in my bed because she's still so little and I'm afraid I might roll on her and kill her! D: I bought a pretty sizable dog cage for her to be in when I'm at work/school or at night when I'm sleeping, until she's old enough to be unsupervised for long periods of time. It's large enough to fit her litter, food and water, her bed and some toys. She seems to be ok with being in there. I put her in a few minutes before I have to leave for work and before I go to bed and she doesn't seem concerned. But around 4 a.m. every day, she wakes up and starts meowing and climbing up the sides of the cage. I sit up so she can see me and call her name to let her know I'm near and she stops long enough for me to fall asleep and then starts again. If I take her out of the cage, she just wants to play and won't let me sleep. If I put her in another room the meowing gets worse because she can't see me. It's starting to upset me a little bit because I don't want to be mad at her for it but I'm starting to feel sick from having to wake up at such an odd hour. My mom suggested that I squirt her with a water bottle when she does something bad to let her know that her behavior in inappropriate, but that seems too mean.

What can I do to stop her from doing this? Should I let her sleep in bed with me?

  • Can anyone help me identify the typeface here?

    http://img.ibtimes.com/www/data/images/full/2013/0...

I'm talking about the typeface used for the headlines: "Swimsuit 2013" "Polar" "Bare" "Body Paint" etc.

What the Font isn't able to identify it, most likely because of the swashes, but I've seen it before so I know it's out there! I looked in the magazine when I saw it in the store but of course they don't take the time to list the fonts they use. Figures.

If anyone can tell me the name of this font( or one similar to it) I'd be much obliged.

I know this is probably in the wrong category, but there isn't a section for graphic design or typography so... :(

  • Does anyone know of some simple music creation software to make "video game" music on?

I want to make some original music for the animation projects that I'm doing for school. What I'm after is that sound like the music from vintage arcade and NES games, similar to the music made by Anamanaguchi, MOKA, and 8-bit warrior. I have a keyboard but it doesn't have the right sounding instrument settings.

Since I've very limited knowledge of music software it's kind of important that the software be simple and easy to use. I also don't want to spend much money on it but I would be ok with spending a little cash if it's a good enough program I can continue to use in the future. It'd be very cool if there was something I could use by plugging my keyboard into my computer and have the sound converted to sound like what I want. Is there a software (preferably cheap or freeware) that can do this?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Itchy face, neck, ears, arms and legs. What could it be?

I noticed this began either Sunday or Monday, an itchy, creepy crawly feeling mostly on my face, neck and arms. It has also begun on my legs, but to a lesser extent. It feels like bites sometimes, sometimes like tiny rubber bands snapping against my skin. There isn't a rash or bumps, though I have had an out break of acne recently. Every blog I've read since I've begun to experience this has told me that it's invisible, microscopic mites that doctors and exterminators can't identify. I'm very scared at this point, because I don't have the money or resources to begin trying to eradicate an infestation of a pest that I can't even see, something that even professionals don't understand. And anyway, I live in an apartment and half the stuff they say you need to do, I'm not authorized to do anyway. So I though I'd take a shot at seeing if it could be something else before I go broke trying to do that.

I haven't done anything different before the itching began, haven't eaten any unusual food, I'm not using a new kind of soap or anything. I'm pretty good about cleaning up. I'm really conscientious about bathing and hair washing. I wash my hands frequently and bathe every day, sometimes twice or three times a day(I'm not obsessive-compulsive or anything though). I don't wear make up and I always use a gentle face wash and astringent. The face itching is the worst part though and even my eyes are very itchy. I do have dry skin and scalp though and I use a tea tree oil based product to try to help with that. Sometimes I notice that the itch goes away for a while but it usually comes back, especially when I exercise or get hot.

It's very strange though, this happened so suddenly. I didn't notice any unusual itching the day before. My family came for Christmas and brought the pets along( a dog and a cat) but it's been two weeks since then. If the pets were a factor, I feel like I would have been itching while they were here. Also, I feel like if it was mites, they would be everywhere and not just certain places. Why on my face and not in my hair? Why am I not noticing the itching on my torso(except for the occasional back itch caused by my bra or whatever)? Also, shouldn't an hour-long hot shower wash them away? And yet I feel itchy only minutes after a shower, before even putting on clothes. Anti-itch cream and allergy medicine don't do anything and I'm sore from scratching already.

Last night was the worst. I felt like my skin was flaming and I just got so freaked out and couldn't sleep. It's not so bad right now. Could the added stress and fear be making it worse? I do have a tendency to overreact to body problems but I'm certain that it's not just my imagination. I almost don't even want to see a doctor because I feel like they're just going to say that I'm crazy.

Thanks in advance for any help that you can offer.

  • I have really noisy neighbors and my landlord doesn't care. What else can I do?

For the last 2 years I've lived in a small relatively quiet apartment complex. All the units here are 1 bedroom places and very cheap for the area( near my college campus). Almost 2 months ago, a large group of people moved into the unit below mine. I've seen so many people coming and going from this place, at least 5 women, several children( I don't know how many exactly), and 2 men. Way too many people for a one bedroom apartment. It also seems that some suspicious people have been coming around since they moved in. It turned out that one of their friends was the one who took some rugs I had drying on the balcony only a week or so after they moved in.

It seems that NONE of these people ever learned phrase "inside voices". They all yell and curse almost constantly. They are either arguing, yelling at the kids, yelling on the phone, or loudly discussing how mad they are at others. Just angry, angry, angry all the time. The kids are just as bad because they are either whining, crying or screaming. The adults let them run wild through the complex, beat on things, spray the fire extinguishers and throw objects around. Twice, I've had to go outside and yell at them because they threw a ball that hit my window. On top of this, they are constantly slamming doors so forcefully that it makes the floor tremble. It's driving me crazy!

About a week after they moved in, I came down to tell them that they were too loud, loud enough, in fact, to drown out the sound of the movie that I was watching. I politely asked them to please keep it down and they said they knew they were being loud and they would try to be quieter. But they didn't try to be quieter. They were just as loud as they were before I asked them to tone it down. I didn't want to be a nag so I just tried to suck it up. But recently, they've decided to have the tv on all night or have music going in the bedroom when I'm trying to sleep. I think they are upset with me now because I've knocked on the floor a few times to tell them to be quiet at 1 a.m. But if they think I'm coming down there in the cold every night to ask politely they're crazy.

I told my landlord about the problem. It took such a long time to catch up with her because she's always on lunchbreak or vacation and when I did, she just told me that if they weren't disturbing the entire complex, there was nothing she could do (total BS). I know for a fact that they are disturbing others because the people that live next to me say that they can hear them too. They've also complained but got no results. I know that others are probably getting tired of the kids running around and causing trouble outside. It really seems like she doesn't care about her tenant's problems as long as she's getting rent money.

So I don't know what to do now. I really can't take this. They start being noisy very early in the morning and sometimes late into the night. I need my rest so I can be functional at work and at school. I need quiet in the evenings for homework and studying. Sometimes it's just nice to have peace and quiet or be able to watch a movie in the living room. I don't want to move because I can't realistically afford any of the other places near my university. Besides, I shouldn't have to move! I was here long before these idiots! It's not fair!

I don't really want to get the cops involved(I don't think they'd do anything anyway). I don't want to get anyone in trouble, I just want them to keep there noise to a respectful level (and perhaps get anger management. They sure seem like they need it.) What can I do?

  • I'm looking for PC RPGs that aren't MMO.?

Just as the title says. I'd like to find another good RPG for PC, with magic, quests, monsters, items that kind of thing. You know: A team of young heroes go on an adventure to [insert purpose here], travel through several realms, fighting monsters and meeting various people in order to find [insert object/evil boss here] do various quests to gain experience, make money, get objects, etc.

I see there are some games that fit my description but they are usually MMO and I don't want that. I'm not a hard core gamer really. I'd like to be able to play on my own at my own speed without having to be online or have other people to do quests and all that hassle.

One game I really liked was Seal of Evil. I don't think it's very well known but it was great with lots of quests, worlds to explore, items, monsters, people to talk to and a decent story. If I could find another game similar that one, that would be perfect.

I also really liked the game Skyborn but it was way too short and the arcade-ish graphics weren't really to my tastes. I think it was geared more towards kids anyway.

The Fate series was ok but it was all dungeon crawl and not enough story. All the quests were pretty much the same, just a bit harder each time and that was boring.

Does anyone have any suggestions for good games? Thanks in advance!
