Stereotypes of Army wives/female soldiers?
I know this is awful, but I kind of hate Army wives --- I have some friends that are spouses, and I know there are a great many of them who work, raise kids, etc...but nonetheless, those few awful ones KILL it for me! Those ones who don't work, think all Army females are out to "get their man", and whose only opinion of us stems from their husband's experience...what can I do to stop being so irritated and predjudiced? My husband and I are both active duty soldiers, and I just see this crap a lot...help?
14 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoMilitary Moms? Anyone?
Anyone else out there a female soldier with kids? I know it gets hard sometimes; I just wanted to remind y'all it is worth it! Today my lil' man said, "Mommy Solda" (well, he is only two).
Do you ladies have those days? Where you are just like seriously? Drop off, PT, work call, pick up, go home, cook, clean, study...deployments are almost a break (KIDDING!!!!)! :)
And to the fathers too! We are all in this together, and I just wanted to throw a shout out to all of us who do two full time jobs! :)
2 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoMilitary Women and Men?
I really want to know...
How many people out there really believe we (those of us in the service) are:
*really "brainwashed"?
*sluts (for the women)?
*high-school dropouts who had no other choice?
*stupid...
the list goes on...I see these questions all the time, and it makes me laugh.
I am not lazy, a ****, an idiot, or a dropout....I just love Soldiering, and so does my spouse (fellow Soldier).
So I really want to know how many of you (civilians, but everyone is, of course, welcome to chime in) really believe that?
9 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoFemales who Serve --- how do you feel about this?
I joined the Army a little over three years ago as a single female. Since then, I've gotten married, etc. My spouse is also a Soldier, same rank as me, both deployed, etc, both facing more deployments....
Yet I am ALWAYS assumed to be a spouse when in civs.
I CONSTANTLY hear the:
"Slut" "Joined to get a man" "Wants my husband", etc. comments.
I know I'm not the only one. It appears to me the majority of young female spouses really believe that crap --- that we are just lazy whores who want their husbands.
My husband is FINE and wonderful, and I don't want/need anyone else's.
I want to know how many of you hear this crap? And how do you respond to it? I just try to ignore it, but it's crap. We all have jobs to do, even spouses, and this **** isn't helping.....
Let me know!
9 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoDeployment and parenting?
I am a mother of two wonderful wonderful little angels, and I love them to death...(not in the creepy way!!), but my husband and I are dual military, both Army soldiers, and he is about to come home from downrange (deployment). My unit already has orders (cannot specify dates) for our next deployment and so does his....am I a bad mother to want to serve my country and be a great mommy? My husband's unit is offering to allow him to stay in the rear....IF THEY CAN...which, for anyone who knows anything, is completely ucertain, and even if they do, I know he won't know how to be as good as me...not that he's not good, he's an amazing father, but I'm Mommy, I'm the Mommy, and I'm just a little nervous. I was already in the Army when I had both of them, and when they told us our unit finally had orders, I volunteered because I would rather go while my kids are young and don't understand. But I am feeling guilty...has anyone else been through this?
