It may have missed a lot of peoples notice but the euro coins (coppers) are not what they seem.

I had by chance a magnet and loose coins in my pocket, when emptying my pocket (copper coins)) stuck to the magnet.

When and why did they do this?

Of course they must have an amount of Ferris metal in the coins for this to happen.

The copper price may rise of course, however the euro is falling in price against other currencies. We know that reducing copper content doesn't effect minted coins in that way,so who's got my copper.
