  • Prime lens to fit 600d/T3i canon?

Hello, im looking to find a prime lens for the 600d canon for some low light photography i want to do with low F stop. I was looking at the lens that is around £70 the plastic fantastic canon EF but wanted to know if i would be better off looking at an older second hand lens and an adaptor for better images than the EF 50mm. Are there any easy non EF options for fitting to the canon 600d - any advice would be much appreciated.

    thanks

  • Specify preferred mobile networks while roaming - android?

    Hi folks,

I wanted to ask, is it possible to get an app or to do this through android system settings.

I want to have a list of mobile networks while roaming that I never want to connect to, and to have a list of preferred mobile network that I do want to use while roaming. Is this possible?

Reason I ask is that 3 mobile now offer free roaming while using the 3 network or O2 while in southern Ireland. I want to avoid a situation however where it accidentally connects to vodafone/meteor etc.

    many thanks!

  • Heating control Wifi?

So here I am, a homer simpson of a man with basic knowledge of engineering who just wants to be able to control an on off power switch over wifi, is it too much to ask. Well apparently so. The fact is I havent been able to find a manufacturer who can reliably make a product that can allow a power socket to be switched on and off over wifi using both an iphone app and over the net. What about Belkins wemo you might ask well the truth is its too unreliable :

    http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Automation-Switch-App...

Is there anything out there that can do this reliably without dropping the connection over the course of a two week holiday.

    thanks

  • Honda SCV Scooter Clutch Stuck engaged slightly?

I have a honda 100cc automatic scooter. The clutch has started to stay engaged slightly even when the engine is at idle and bike is stationary. Its only slight and the back brake is enough to stop it from rotating but you can hear the engine being choked slightly as you brake the back wheel. Is there a common solution to this - could the springs in the clutch be worn or need replacing or what other maintenance checks can I do to determine the cause of the problem. I have not worked on the scoot before - just want to get an idea if its worth performing the repair myself. thanks!!

  • Washing machine motor question?

I have a siemens siwamat 5100 (UK model) washing machine that has given up. It is working fine except it wont spin even with a little push on the pulley at the back (with the lid off though maybe this would rule out the capacitor?).

    1. The machine was made in 1995 so im assuming its an AC motor

    2. There are different wires going into the motor im assuming to control the different speeds of the motor - can these be tested to check if the motor is getting voltage from the control board?

    3. The voltage that is being fed to the motor - is this fed in a controlled way or should I see a steady 220V coming in when the motor is being activated. If it is fed into the motor in a controlled way can I measure this using a duty cycle test on my multimeter!?

If you can answer any of these questions or give me any info that would be great! thanks

  • Fuse from transformer to magnetron has blown - Microwave?

I have a russel hobbs microwave, the HV capacitor is ok, the voltage going to the transformer is ok 220V, havent been able to test the HV diode yet, but found that the fuse between the transformer and the magnetron has blown. Also check the resistance across the primary on the transformer and it reads ok. What can cause this fuse to blow? Is it safe to replace and where could you source one if so, Thanks!

  • Iphone jailbreaking for 4.3.3 with week 44 bootrom?

I have a 3Gs running on ios 4.3.3, I want to jailbreak it using redsnow however when I load redsnow it asks if the phone was manufactured between weeks 40 - 45, mine is a Week 44 going by the serial number. Does this mean I cannot jailbreak the phone without it being tethered or can I jailbreak it at all? When you run resnow it says for weeks 40 - 45 results vary, what does this mean?

  • Iphone 3G speed slow over wifi?

I have broadband with talk talk on a huawei router 521. Laptops and Desktop work just fine over this connection however the iphone is really slow for youtube, twitter pics, opera, slow to download apps, slow for everything really. I also use the iphone over a different wireless network at work and it runs like a dream so its something to do with the router settings at home i'd imagine. Could anybody suggest what I should tweak either on the iphone or the routes to attempt to improve the connection speed on the iphone.

I have already tried switching the channels on the router and playing with the DNS settings on the phone which have not helped.

I have an aquarius hotpoint dishwasher, it only has a cold water inlet. Can I hook the cold water inlet up to the hot water supply so that it can accept hot water instead of cold to save on running costs. Thanks!

  • New car battery reading 8.3V?

Bought a new 12V car battery yesterday and its reading only 8.3V and wont start the car. Should the shop selling the battery have it charged before selling? Is it just faulty because its reading this low or is a case that it just needs charged up?
