  • crafts with strips of chipboard?

I have come upon a batch of chipboard that are half and inch wide and 11 inches long. Anyone know what kind of cool crafts I can do with chipboard of this shape and size?

Chipboard is the brown cardboard that is at the back of a note pad, it gives the pad structure.

    Thanks!

  • Looking for a stapler-like device that fastens paper with a decorative staple.?

I want to staple together about 5 sheets of paper but I want the staples to look decorative like a gem, a bead, or a simple rounded disc would do too. But, I want the decorative element to be visible on both sides of the stack of papers.

Maybe something like a brad fastener but with the prongs hidden or camouflaged so they look decorative instead of utilitarian.

    Thanks in advance

  • die casts for origami crease pattern?

    Hi,

I want to score or "emboss" a crease pattern of an origami model on a sheet of paper. It will be done over 100 times so I need an efficient method of making the crease pattern. (A crease pattern is a bunch of lines where a person will fold the paper).

Is there a store that can do this? FedEx/Kinkos and Staples does not do it.

Someone suggested that I have a die cast in the shape of the crease pattern and then use this die to make the patterns. It would be like a cookie cutter where I go through and stamp the crease patterns on the paper. Where can I get a die cast?

    Thanks,

  • Where can I find/buy black and white checkered paper?

I am looking for checkered paper (either 8.5 x 11 style or wrapping paper style) which has small checkers that are about 1/8 inch wide. Something like this:

    http://www.chexexpress.com/chexstuff/GiftWraps.htm...

except the black and white squares are smaller.

  • Glow in the Dark Paper?

Where can I find some glow in the dark paper? I need either rolls of it like wrapping paper or sheets of it like 8.5" x 11" in size. I don't want it sticky (adhesives) and I don't want vinyl or photographic film type.

    Thanks in advance

  • What's the deal with Etsy?

OK, so I like arts and crafts and think that I want to start selling my stuff on Etsy. My questions are this:

    1) do people really make money on etsy? Is it like one person finds success when 2 million others don't?

    2) what are the Etsy shopping trends? If I want to sell something specific for Christmas, how many weeks in advance should I post something so that it's not too late and not too early. For example, is it too early to post something specific for New Year? When should I start posting Valentines Day stuff for sale?

3)Who shops on Etsy? Are most of the shoppers from USA or they from all over the world? Are most of the shoppers women, men, or an equal mix. Are most things bought for household, for men, for women, or for children?

Anyways, just thought I'd ask before I get an account.

    Thanks.

  • How to cut half inch wide paper?

I want to cut paper into half an inch wide strips. How can I do this easily?

I want to cut hundreds of sheets so a paper cutter isn't optimal. I was thinking maybe use a shredder that makes half inch strips. Does anyone know the brand name of such a shredder? Most of the ones I see on amazon are quarter inch cut.

  • How do I find a gardener with a "vision"?

I just moved into a house in San Diego which has an amazing backyard with flowers, succulents, annuals, perennials, trees, and all sorts of beautiful plants. I need to find a gardener who can help me maintain the garden. This should be someone who is willing to get down and dirty: weed, prune, trim, replant and maintain the garden so it looks fresh. I need someone who has a plan, a vision, and a passion for his work. How / where can I find such a person? The current gardener is more of the "mow, blow, and go" type.

And how much will such a gardener cost: $50/month $100/month $200/month?

  • Hershey's Kiss shape and plume copyright?

I want to use a Hershey Kiss as a logo on my web site to indicate the concept of candy. I am wondering if the Kiss shape is copyright protected. A friend told me that the "plume" (the little piece of paper sticking out of a Hershey Kiss) is copyright protected, but the shape of the kiss itself (flat-bottom tear drop) is not copyright protected. Can anyone make a comment on this? Confirm or deny?

  • where to get The Candy Man Can by Sammy Davis Jr in piano or instrumental?

I want to use the song The Candy Man Can originally sung by Sammy Davis Jr as a background music for one of my online projects.

    a) is it legal to do so without formally asking for permission to use the song? Or would that be copyright infringement?

    b) I want it on piano only or at most instrumental with no vocals. Where can I find one like this?

    c) If I find a web site which allows me to download/buy the song, how do I know that this is a legal copy of the song that can be sold, or if it is a pirated copy?

    d) If I find a web site which allows me to buy the music sheet and I ask my buddy to play it on the piano and record it, then is it legal to use it? how do I know that this web site has the rights to the music sheets in the first place?

Am I being overly cautious or what? Thanks in advance

  • Camera not turning on: battery bad? charger not working?

I have a Sony Cyber-shot digital camera and it worked fine for about 2 years. Today, when taking photos, I got a battery icon that I had never seen before: it was black with a slash across it. Soon afterwords, the camera turned off by itself. I assumed that batteries had run low, so I recharged battery with charger as usual. After a few hours, I put battery back into camera, but camera still does not work. Sometimes the screen turns on then off right away, other times, it doesn't turn on at all.

So what do you think is wrong? Bad battery? Bad battery recharger? Or something wrong with camera itself?

    Thanks in advance.
