  • How to get a disposable camera look on a digital photograph with GIMP 2.0?

I really like the look that disposable cameras give. It's kind of a faded/authentic look, but I can't afford to keep buying disposable and getting it developed when I have a great working digital camera. Does anyone know how I can make a digital photograph look as though it was taken with a disposable camera, preferably using the software GIMP 2.0??

  • Is Michael Durant's crashed Black Hawk still sitting at the crash site in Mogadishu?

I'm looking on Google Earth and I believe I have located the exact crash site position. I know that Wolcott's Super 6-1 is still in it's place in an alley behind some buildings under a bunch of Cactus plants, but Super 6-4, being in a wide area, I wonder if it is still there. Does anybody know if the Black Hawk is still there?

  • Why is Yahoo shutting down Y!A?

It seems like a lot of people use it. We need to get a petition or something and convince them not to shut it down. =/

  • Good question for fellow atheists that don't believe in ghosts?

Ok, so this is a story I've been trying to find logical reasoning to, as I'm an atheist and don't believe in ghosts, spirits, demons etc.

Instead of saying it's lies, let's just ASSUME it's a true story and try to find out how this could logically happen.

A few years back, my mom, my dad and I all lived together. I am currently fifteen and was about 2 or 3 when this happened. We had a lamp in the front room that had multiple selections: "Very low, low, medium, high, very high" or something like that.

Well, every night, at exactly 12:22 AM, the light would cycle through it's multiple power settings all by itself. This was 1999, just after my Great-great Grandma had died.

So, in an effort to prove this to others, my dad and my mom set up a video camera, hidden from sight and aiming at the lamp. It wouldn't cycle through the settings while on film! If they refrained from setting up a camera, it would then go through it's settings again, at 12:22 just like nothing ever happened and just like usual.

So now my dad and mom starting thinking, "This is the weirdest thing ever." My dad invited several friends over on multiple occasions and it would not happen.

As soon as we were all alone again and not on film, it would cycle through it's settings.

Now, let's just say they're not lying, and this is a true story. As I previously said, I'm an atheist, and I really don't believe ghosts exist, aside from impacted energy on the environment, dimensional overlap, etc.

I've been trying to think of a logical explanation for how this is possible. That's why I came here and can hope that only an atheist will help me find the explanation.

The only thing I can think of, is that they're lying, because there were no other witnesses.

But pretending they're not, try to think of something.

    Thanks

  • How were the tombs of Ancient Egyptians lit?

Alright, so this is very weird.

Egyptologists claim that torches were used in the Ancient Egyptian tombs. Problem: Fire will actually not light deep inside the Pyramids of Giza. There is simply not enough oxygen.

The Mummy (1999)'s theory is that mirrors were used. Problem Two: Copper mirrors (used by the Egyptians) did not reflect enough light to stop dissipation of light while transporting reflected light through the corridors.

Several of the Heiroglyphics show actual lightbulbs inside the tombs of ancient Egyptians.

Also, if you are curios, research the Baghdad Battery...

  • How to Simulate Lunar Gravity?

I have tried several attempts using a rope and having my dad pull but it's not efficient and the person on the other end can only hold you for so long. What I would like to do is have some way where I can relieve approximately 5/6ths of my weight with a rope so that I can jump around in low gravity. Is anybody has any suggestions don't hesitate to share. And remember, using only a rope.

  • Is Tourettes Guy Real?

In many scenes, Danny's outbreaks seem EXTREMELY real. In one episode, Shirlena throws a ceramic bowl right at the back of his neck. Sometimes, he actually passes out or falls down drunk. Another case in point, the grocery store and the parking lot moon. Nobody in their right mind would fake such a thing for fear of getting beaten up.

One guy approaches the tourettes guy and says, "Do you know if Jiffy Lube is open on Sundays?"

and Danny moons him. Another time, he is in the bowling alley, screaming cuss words. None of this seems like it could have been faked. What is your opinion?
