  • Why is Congress acquitted when it comes to our financial crisis?

Reworded to clarify that I am not advocating extremism.

All I read here is how bad Bush screwed up the economy. As a conservative, I can agree with that to an extent, but why isn't some of the outrage directed towards "senior senators" such as Ted Kennedy who has been in office for years and years? How about the house seats that run unopposed year after year so that congressmen can act with impunity in their districts?

Everyone shouts about the president, while congress turns out page after page of wasteful spending, pork politics, crushing taxation and overbearing legislation.

This is not directed at a particular party, this is directed at the members of the house and senate who have been in office for years and cannot be budged from their positions, so that they can legislate without fear of reprisal. If we want "change" let's clean house, literally, and vote these lifetime senators and congressmen out of office.

Where am I wrong here, or why isn't there any mention of congressional accountability anymore?

  • Christians, why do you insist your beliefs are based on blind faith?

..when God offers ample evidence for his existence, and nowhere command us to believe in spite of the evidence to the contrary?

A blind faith will surely lead to instability. I have questioned my faith since day one, and have searched and found answers. But you don't even need the Bible to know God exists, otherwise the Bible itself would not say:

Rom 1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

Rom 1:21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

We know from personal experience that intelligible results do not just happen from explosions. We have caused explosions (note that these explosions have an intelligent cause, US, while big bang cosmology offers an explosion without a cause), and we have also designed and created things. Observation leads us to the conclusion that design and creation produces order and that explosions produce chaos, unless directed by intelligence.

We see God's triune nature in all of creation through Atoms being comprised of protons, neutrons, and electrons; and the universe consisting of space, time and matter. Objects all have length, width and depth. Three dimensions, three persons of the Godhead.

We can see the veracity of God's word in that it exists intact after centuries, where other literary works have not been able to, prior to the printing press.

We have so much evidence that we should be presenting it, not hiding from it. It is not "science versus religion", it is "religion versus religion" because natural cosmology and evolution are PRESUMPTIONS made from the evidence, not direct observation of the evidence, and creationism brings presumptions and interprets the evidence adequately in a different way.

Our "trump card" should be logic itself, not pitting logic against faith! Faith IS LOGICAL! A universe governed by randomness (lack of any intelligent origin) and lawlessness is totally illogical in the face of the intelligibility of the universe!

  • Is the big bang theory the golden calf of our day?

Exo 32:22 So Aaron said, "Do not let the anger of my lord become hot. You know the people, that they are set on evil.

Exo 32:23 For they said to me, 'Make us gods that shall go before us; as for this Moses, the man who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.'

Exo 32:24 And I said to them, 'Whoever has any gold, let them break it off.' So they gave it to me, and I cast it into the fire, and this calf came out."

Here Aaron was shirking his responsibility, saying "I put the gold in the fire, and this calf just came out on it's own!"

According to the big bang, a huge explosion happened, and this universe just popped out! Everything just kind of swirled into place, law and order came about on their own, where there had previusly been none, and things just started magically happening on their own, with no outside intelligence or purpose!

Exo 32:25 And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:)

So now we can strip off our "clothes" of divine origin and accountability, and do whatever we wish, whatever seems best to us.

  • Atheists and Christians and others?

I have noticed that the majority of messages I receive are from Yahoo Canada. Setting aside our theological differences for a moment, where are you from?

  • Are modern home designers exhibitionists?

The wife and I have been searching new homes, and floor plans to possibly build our own home. The latest trend seems to be a huge master bathroom with the walk-in shower and the large tub, which we like. The problem is that it seems like 90% of these newer homes have no doors on the master bathrooms.

If someone is buying a 3 or 4 bedroom house, it is more than likely that they would have children. Why, then, would you not want a door on your bathroom? If I don't shut the door on the bathroom, my daughter will follow me right in. So, when I am taking a shower, going to the bathroom, or getting dressed, I close and lock the door. Why would I want a bathroom where I would have no privacy at all in the shower? Who would want their kids to be able to come strolling into the bathroom in the middle of a shower or bath?

I know it's no big deal to put a door on or have the house built with a door, but I just wonder why they design like this in the first place.

  • What is your opinion of labor unions in the United States?

I am a member of a labor union, and also a conservative. While some would find this very contradictory, I fully support my union (while realizing it's corruption, like any other human institution). I also fully support civil liberties, which is mostly why I fit in the "conservative" category.

I ask because I have found amazing anti-union sentiment in a lot of folks who I would have thought would be fully supportive of labor unions. This includes people with low paying, blue collar jobs.

The sentiment seems to be that I should be making less money, not that they should be making more. I get raises with every contract, and my job has kept pace with the skyrocketting cost of living and inflation, while not at all hurting the profits of the corporation I work for (eight straight quarters of record profits, and a $22 million dollar bonus for our CEO). Vacation and job assignments are all entirely based upon seniority. Is this really such a bad thing?
